Thanks for the detailed review. I bought a pair of these speakers in April 2024. They are connected to my Dayton Audio HTA200 Integrated Stereo Hybrid Tube Amplifier. I am very happy with the design and sound.
@@k4syx I forgot to mention, adding Chartpak Graphic Art Gold Tape, 1/16 W, near the seam of the tweeter twist off cover added a high-tech appearance to the speakers.
@@viderethevaccinatorfromhol7536 Hivi Swans, Aurum Cantus, there are more and sometimes you even dont know they are chineese. Id like to review more of them. If the brand gets recognition the prices go up unfortunately :(
(Eng.) Replacing these electrolytes with MKP will increase analyticality. Leaving aside the issue of "quality" of capacitors, from a purely electrical point of view, a significant part of the perceived difference (I do not claim that all of it) will be the result of the fact that the electrolytic capacitor has a high internal resistance (ESR) and in the diagram it could be represented as a capacitor with a series-connected resistor. By changing the electrolyte to MKP with minimal ESR we somehow increase the tweeter volume. If the speaker cabinet plays, for example, "thinly", after such a procedure it will be even thinner, which may be liked at first (delight in "detail"), but in the long run it can be tiring and a series resistor should be added to the tweeter to compensate for the difference in ESR. In general, adjusting the tweeter volume can be done depending on the room, the target speaker setting, the character of the amplifier. This can save a lot of money on stupid moves with changing equipment / speakers.
You are of course perfectly right, thats why I said I will go for bipolar electrolytes as a replacement for 18uF elcos :) I will also have 4.7uF replaced with Jantzen Standards (already ordered). But its a good and usefull info you got here for everyone!
I dampen inside cabinets with metal plates drowned in silicon, glue bracing if none inside, silicon gaskets. Better caps in the X over. Results are breathtaking.
@@phillipmorris9847 different materials vibrate at different frequencies, metal deaden the cabinet wall, very well. Metal is used in ski building sandwich tech to lessen vibrations.
China literally kills it when it comes to audio that's a country that is seriously slept on i know Phil Jones eho owns AAD and PJB he makes some seriously awesome high end amps and speakers some of them costing a hslf million dollars his regular stiff is made in China with edifier stuff that he also designs (he designs allot of edifier speakers and amps) anyway he has a bunch of engineers over there and they are genius level humans absolute geniuses and they come up with some incredible solutions i personally have been mind blown by them guys
What makes me appreciate them (and thats why I bought all KZ headphones) is that they really try to innovate and they do lower the prices for good quality audio. Its visible the most in IEM world, where you pay 40$ today to get the sound that 4-5 years ago would set you back 400$.
$250!? In the run up to the black Friday deals Aliexpress kept emailing me about these speakers but they were priced at £292 ($370). They’re now £328 ($416).
They were 350 asking price, then I've used 50USD coupon, and then on top of that the final price gets reduced by VAT when its higher than 150 Euro (Vat in such cases should be collected locally). So it was another 50USD for VAT and the final cost to me was 250$. The promo mails do not have best prices - they are promoting selected offers, but if youll look you may find the same things way cheaper. Also try to switch from GBP to USD in settings, Ali uses weird exchange rates (same goes for EUR, they do 1:1 on USD so if you'll switch to USD you get instant bonus)
@@Moe-DK Yes I think they've raised the prices now :/ I guess they realized they got large incoming traffic (or more orders). I was thinking some time ago if there is anything I can do about it (so the prices would stay the same) but I have just no idea. I guess there is a place for new seller in China to step in with lower price.
Ive seen something like that: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dl6OxwD And I have it on my watch list. The price is okay, numbers look good (though I dont really believe in 30Hz given in specs) and it matches more or less style of these speakers. But I havent heard it yet!
These were around $500aud (with discount voucher) during the sale. I seriously considered getting a pair but decided against it as they would be too small for my listening room. I have a second hand pair of original NHT Superzero speakers that, even in combination with my SVS sub, fail to fill the room with sound. I need a larger bookshelf speaker (8" bass driver) at minimum. My regular speakers are Arendal 1723 Tower THX. Although they are a Norwegian brand who design the speakers, they get them made in China yet the build and sound quality surpasses speakers twice the cost.
@@richardlui8914 Mine came with the NHT SW1p Subwoofer and matching NHT SA1 Amplifier. I only used that sub briefly as it tended to chuff. They seem to blend a lot better with my SVS PB1000 Pro. Without a sub, the Superzeros have no bass. A lot of smaller speakers have a little boost around 100-200hz to give the impression of bass but not the Superzeros. But they are really detailed in the range they do cover. While they sound very good, they just got lost in my listening room. The crossover has two Culver brand electrolytic caps that I replaced with 1% Daytons. The old caps ended up testing perfectly despite getting a little crushed during removal due to being covered in glue. The polycaps that replaced them were six times the size but I did manage to fix them on the side and back of the crossover board. I then had to install the binding post/crossover assembly upside down so the crossover cleared to woofers magnet.
Mind sharing how you dampen the driver? + what voltage the caps should be? You think it'll run good on my Sansui AU-X517R. It is pretty bass heavy and throws out about 80w.
Thanks! Take a look at my recent Martin Logan Motion video. The idea is to stick cuts of damping mat to driver basket - the same type of mat that is used for damping car doors in car audio systems. These are cheap, self adhesive and they work really well as that's what they've been designed for. As for caps anything above 25V will do fine, some guys say that higher voltage caps do sound a tiny bit better but I haven't checked that myself. The lowest MKP voltage you can get will be probably 100 or 250V. For bipolar caps 25, 30, 53, 63V - anything really. I think I will do a short video on that when my caps will arrive (they've been mailed to me this afternoon). And you will be fine with Sansui, these were always considered current capable.
Bottom FR at 35hz… It sounds like I have car. May be it’s Rolls Royce? May be Volkswagen beetle? Maybe it’s a Kenworth truck? Is there a difference 35hz at -1.5dB or -10, or -20dB? It’s like those amps, claimed as 2x200w, with single 100w transformer Kevlar cone asking for a bit more advanced crossover, due to persistence of resonance peak. Original B&W 704 has a peak near 4 kHz. After slightly modifying a crossover, the sizzling of my 704 is gone, and now it sounds really pleasant with female vocals, and pianos. Damn they did not copied nautilus tweeter’s structure. Chinese diaphragm really really good. Once I burned 704, tweeter, and while waiting for original part, I ordered just replacement diaphragm with voice coil from Ali. I was stunned when I measured repaired driver. It has a bit more smooth FR than the original, while accurately maintaining general character of the original FR P.S. There is inexpensive calibrated USB microphone UMIC-1, that able to measure loudspeakers for review and modding purposes. Just plug and play, no sound card or preamp required.
Yes I have UMIK in my shopping cart, I will probably get one to measure these and two other speaker pairs Ive ordered. Ive seen that replacement tweeter parts, they seem to be popular and I was wondering if they really are just a copy or is it just another "leak" from the factory. Ive read good things about them just as you wrote here. As for the freq response yes, there are no miracles here, the driver is small, it will reach 35Hz but probably at -9dB or even lower. They do sound good, really good for the price, but Id like to measure them. And Id REALLY would like to see waterfalls for cabinets. The cabinets here are the star of the show!
@ The original nautilus tweeter has a hole in the center of magnetic cern ( central part of magnet assembly), than there is a conical silicone wave guide connected to that hole. Such way the sound waves, emitted by the back of the dome, going through the hole into chamber inside of silicone waveguide, and dumped here, instead of to be reflected from the cern to back side of dome again. I didn’t heard those Chinese tweeters, but the original nautilus just an excellent. It’s nice to hear that you going for UMIC. It is very good instrument, that allow to perform some very interesting projects. Say you can completely redesign crossovers, and fine tune them to get the FR close to perfect.
@k4syx I still used fm255 +300a to test it. . both pre and power amp have balance control ... The balance controls need to be adjusted right at the mid or balanced in order to have the best soundstage and clarity . You are right they need current. So the power amp at max volume and the pre volume needs to be 9 o' clock or above .. I do not get used to it .. a little touch of the balanced control .. the soundstage and clarity change a lot .. and this speaker has the sweetest spot .. for an electrostatic panel speaker user .. it is not a problem but another kind of speaker users may not get used to it and may not be able to have the optimal sound.. just a reminder for junior like me ! Please advise the system and cables you test these speakers . Thank you ahead .. I am still trying to optimize the mid range of these speakers One funny thing to share .. Finally I got five OD gold power cables , one for spare .. sorry for my luck .. one OD gold might be damaged during delivery or something .. the internal live and neutral are short for some reason , it triggered the breaker, I checked that with a meter to confirm . From now on ... I will use a meter to check on all the cables first before I plug in .
Thanks! Take a look at my recent Martin Logan Motion video or earlier Elac Debut stuff. The idea is to use vibration dampening mat (like dynamat used in car audio) to dampen vibration on the steel basket of the driver. These mats are self adhesive, they are very cheap and they were desinged to to exactly that: dampen vibrations in steel. I've learned about that trick reading some articles from 70ties, it was quite popular then as a regular thing for some manufacturers. Then it went away with advent of casted iron baskets, but it still works for cheap steel pressed stuff that is very popular with every speaker entry line now.
@k4syx Thank you very much for this. As it turns out, I am familiar with Dynamat and was actually thinking about it for this application. This confirms my direction with this.
Yes the cabinets here are the start of the show. Just get them and remove the drivers. Oatlon is - AFAIK - a regular brand and I dont think it will be easy and significantly cheaper to try to order cabinets alone :(
Exactly, they are really good as they are and there is still room for the upgrade. There is a polyfill inside, I forgot to mention it in the right part of the video so I've added that at the very end with some shots of the internal brace. These boxes are really well made.
Pls compare with current speakers, I see Martin Logan b100 in the background. Pls share the difference in sound to put more weight and context to review.
@@allentd55 I'm trying to set a microphone rig to do sound demos. These are not as good as B100. Another league. But B100 are also another league pricewise. I got them for 250USD and for that price there is no real competition, something that sounds similar will set you back 400-500usd. They are better than Dali Oberon I think. Definetely better than Elac Debut D5.2 and somewhat better than wharfedale 12.2 that I owned
@@nsxt28 the one I got is not exactly tannoy clone, it's coaxial but it's from regular brand there (sound artist). It's still on its way though. If the shipping time will be the same it should get here in the first or second week of January
There was polyfill but I took it out to show crossover and forgot about it :/ Ive added dhort vid at the very end to show it, just scroll almost to the end of the video and you will see it. My bad!
What I meant there was that from two specced numbers (40kHz and 25kHz) I would go for closer to reality 25kHz and put 40kHz to fairy tales. I think they actually may reach 25kHz, note that there is no info about dB, it can be like -6dB or -9dB for all we know :D
Thanks! That was with coupon and with VAT reduction for EU countries. It should be collected by local authorities, but it was not, it has do to something with railway transport they are using. Though the last mile was done via DPD
I think that's the first time I've seen a bad capacitor combined with higher-quality resistors. Those look like pretty nice wire wound resistors instead of sand-cast units. Usually, I see manufacturers skimping on the resistors.
Because resistors don't do much in terms of audible quality believing that it does . Is typical audiophool nonsense. Same with caps of same values ...it's nonsense
@@MichelLinschotenWhat is more foolish is paying thousands for speakers and then argue over a $5 resistor. My only regret after upgrading my crossover is not doing it sooner !
@@MichelLinschoten sand cast can muddy the sound when they're paired with better quality caps in inductors. But why they would put better resistors with bad caps makes no economic or audio sense.
@@MichelLinschoten A few years ago, being electronic engineer, I would totally concur. But then I had built a 47amp as a fun "project" (thats too big word for it) and Ive done some experiments with caps and opamps. The thing is so simple and uncomplicated that you are able to immediately hear any changes in sound. Especially in opamps, as there are two in series so any signature change gets multilplied. Long story short: it works. Get 47amp kit for like 5USD shipped (no kidding) and play with it. Make simple sockets for caps and opamps and experiment comparing cheap shitty parts from the kit with Nichicons or Elnas. And btw 47amp - as a headphone 12v amp - can sound really, really good. Not very powerful, but clean and very transparent.
Yes they are, once you see them you realize that they cannot be mistaken for the real 805. But they are quite heavy and the cabinets are very good! I thought that maybe a hand will give better scale than numbers alone :)
Christopher Tin - "Baba Yetu", "Hey now" by London Grammar (thats the one with the whine in right channel but thats some vinyl to FLAC grab) , "Hymn to the fallen" by John Williams (Saving Private Ryan OST) - these are the ones I mentioned in video.
If I will be able to get them with good price then sure :) I'm buying my stuff myself so I always need to have a good offer as these are all investments :)
Music, I always just go for random through my playlists. I had tried pink noise a couple of years ago, but it wasnt any quicker and the backgound noise was less pleasant so I settled with music :)
A crossover always needs to have bipolar caps, music signal is AC. If you 'improve' the caps using the wrong type you'll dfinitely hear a big change. Not an improvement though.
Fab video thank you, I think these are a poor copy of the 805, because the tweeter has none of the techbology of the orginal 805 (diamond domed tweeter and vibration absorbing tube.) it's just a soft dome normal tweeter you would find in a cheap 2 way. Those bass drivers look nothing like the BMW drivers except from the front. For the price the finish is excellent, but the crossover is nasty, not sure how I would feel about these if I owned them.
I got them for lolz at the begining. I owned 705 and other B&W mid-range speakers and as you say tweeters here are nothing like bowers ones :) Its just a metal pipe that looks similar. Drivers are kevlar (I think, I wont know for sure without trying to cut them with scissors and thats not happening) and the crossover was mediocre (not bad as I honestly have seen worse in big brand entry lineups). But in spiteof that they sounded good right from the start and that was unexpected. After crossover mods (some replacements) and dampening the speaker basket these are very very good. They have real, lifelike, spooky vocals and I am finding myself listening to those lately way more than all my other speakers, including Martin Logan XT B100 and my Ascent I electrostats. I've ordered a second pair and in the next move I will rewire them and I will replace binding posts. And the best part is these were 250USD, and crossover parts 20USD on top of that :D
Try building only a cabinet this good, for this price. I can't, and I build everything myself. Another price range, of course, but still. What can they make for double or even triple the €€€😮. It's amazing.
There isn't much point to Chinese speaker makers cloning foreign products any more; they've upped their game. I bought some origninal speakers from Swans HiVi, and they're absolutely fantastic.
If you plan on getting more chinese speakers, it would be nice if you got a esurent microphone and got them outside for some frequency response measurements
Yes I was looking at getting UMIK calibrated mic for REW and doing some measurements. We'll see how it goes, Ive ordered two types more, but these get pricey very fast. But I was thinking about it and I have one of the mics in my shopping cart already :)
MDF - I scratched it here and there when I was removing hot glue. I think you should also be able to see cross section on the brace in the last part of the video
If You want to measure impedance of the speakers, you should check around tunning freq.of the bass reflex. 18 Ohms at 100Hz doesnt tell sh*t. about nominal impedance in my opinion.
You're perfectly right. It's just that my meter has 100Hz, 1kHz and 10kHz. So that's what I can measure. Getting full Z/f plot would be excellent if I would have means to do it :)
Nice review! Thanks for it! With end price relative to customer location, which can differ a lot, I think it would be better to know to which speakers does it compere/compete to, so we can take into account final prices for all the involved speakers and see if it is worth it or not. With this in mind, what would be the contenders at same sound quality level? 🙂
Yes the shipping price can make a big difference here. I would compare these to something on B&W 606 or 607, maybe Dali Opticon 1 or 2 too. Similiar in performance but with about 2-2.5x lower price. I wonder how they will sound with better crossovers.
When you think about it, a lot are made in China . Put a Euro name on it everyone wants. Put a Chinese name on it, and it's maybe. Probably comes from same factory in Guangdong.
Thats why I ordered a 3 sets (so far) of chinese speakers. During last Audio Video show I talked with some guys from China that got here looking for distributors (literally half around the globe) - all of them were completely unknown to me and all of them sounded really good. They told me that there are domestic brands in China that do not produce anything for other parts of the world because local market is so vast that it will take them years to even think about looking on other markets...
@k4syx You must take a look at the Meixing Ming Da tube amplifiers. I have brought in a few blank amplifier circuit boards from China, and they are amazing. Heavy, plate through holes and well masked. I wish you all the best
Hi! By the time you receive this, you will have heard about the China Hifi SoundArtist Ls3/5a shipped to you door for less than $600us... lots of revues now online, it may be worth checking out yourself as I'm sure your subscribers would be interested on your findings. May well compete with the WZ-501S 🙂
Yes I've seen them, I went for coaxial Sound Artist speakers first as I got some very good price during one of last sales. But I have the Ls3/5a on my list too!
Awe that’s too bad that the tweeter is just a sealed back. This is a good candidate for DSP active crossover conversion or parts upgrade. The cabinet looks awesome! I wasn’t expecting real wood veneer for this price. I think better parts (or no parts running active crossover) will resolve the lack of detail at lower volumes.
Yes the cabinet is the star here. I think you could go active with that treble driver as the wiring is easily accessible, it can probably be also replaced with something different after removing the glue there. What I meant about the detail is that they retain the detail at higher volumes, they do not have problem with lack of detail in low volume :) Cheers!
@ I have a feeling that tweeter will be good enough especially with the added flexibility of DSP correction on the individual driver level. You can correct way more than with overall EQ and even tweak the way the drivers overlap which is super cool. You can correct the actual slopes separately if you want by applying filters within the crossover region. It improves efficiency as well since you aren’t going through any resistance of the crossover.
Thanks! Its way better this week - finally :) Actually the cabinets are very good and the last thing I would say is that they are thin. They are thicker than in my Dali Opticons and Ikons. The drivers are cheap, the crossover is cheap, but they sound good and there is a room to improve them significantly with minimum expense so all in all they do get my recommendation (as long as you can get them for the price I got with 50USD coupon)
That heavily depends on your location. Here where I live Debuts are significantly more expensive. I plan to get my hands on 3.0 for sure (as I had 2.0) but I can tell now that these are better than 2.0 even after my mods that I've done to them. Clearer and more transparent in the top end and midrange. But we will see how it wil compare to 3.0 when I will get them...
@k4syx in Norway the debut 3.0 5 is +400$ taxes and shipping included.. Since the ones you had was 5 " that's the comparison. The 3.0 is a big upgrade vs 2.0 and wasn't an accidental reference used.
@@wegardfjeld3789 Yes I've heard good things about them and thats why I am curious. I always look for best value options that I can later recommend to my friends, and I also am interested in how much pure sound quality more you can get with every passing year for less. Elac, Wharfedale and few others are great at pushing the boundaries.
Yes the cabinets got my attention - I thought adter seeing some more photos that these are worth the price alone, and they turned to be superb small speakers too :)
FIRST ORDER BUTTERWOTH IS JUST a cap and a coil. remove that shyte and make brand new. Remeber the Wharfedale Diamond 1984 had just a cap and sounded excellent.
Yes, the simple the better. I got a pair of older Cambridge Audio small bookshelfs and they have exactly that: one cap, one coil, and they are super transparent. I need to get calibrated mic to measure the drivers alone before I can redesign the xover, so I went for recap only for now. It's been like 10 USD for parts ;)
Hi ! This really looks like a cheap knockoff when we check the inside of the cabinet! No damping material and the cheapest crossover available. Of course, at such a low price we cannot expect premium parts. Even if the midwoofer looks decent, I am sure the sound quality is in par with the price tag. Thanks for this nice video!
There actually is a polyfill in the cabinet I just forgot to show it in the right place in video, so Ive recorded this at the end along with some shots of the brace inside. The price is low and I think the cabines alone are worth it, and low quality xover gives some area for improvement. I will do a revisit video once I will replace caps in the crossover, Im really curious about the sound quality change here
@@k4syx HI ! Thanks for the reply! I think the sound will also improve marginally if you change the ferrite-core inductor in the low-pass filter. I did it a number of times to help bass control and clarity, even if the investment was higher. It is true the speaker is really gorgeous!

I did, and I still am thinking about it. The problem is I think there will be a limited number of viewers in Poland, and I would need to start a second channel for that. Doable, but so far I have 5700 worldwide subs which is actually a very small number all in all. And doing vids twice would take twice the time, and I do these in my free time after my regular job.. @@k4syx I realize that it's more work. But when your commentary in the film is only in the background, it's enough to record a second track in Polish. And the default track would be the English one
@@Grzegorz70 YT is supposed to be releasing new functionality for having two soundtracks for the same video, I kinda wait for that. But I really would like to have these also in our laguage and when It will be possible, I will have them like that!
No, as its not a copy. It just looks similiar. But its different in size, in most of the looks, just the general design and colour is similar if you'll look closely. And it doesnt sound as 805 surely: its just a very competent and good sounding speaker on its own, that happens to have very good box and dirt cheap price ;)
I got them for 250. And stamped steel is kinda standard with recognized brands like Elac too, I see that on regular basis when I rework my friends speakers. Cast iron is reserved for mid to high tiers, and there are some like wharfedale that go for plastic ones.. I recommend them because even with that cheap crossover they sound good, and for 250usd shipped these are excellent - I would pay that money locally for the quality boxes like these alone. So I figured I will check them out and they turned to be something I wouldn't expect to get for that kind of money. If the price raises towards 400 then there are other choices on the table immediately
I had and modded B5.2 and as long as I really liked and recommended entry level Elacs these are better. And cheaper as long as you'll get them for similar price I did.
Why? If the patents (if there were any in the first place) are expired then its a fair game. Its common thing in engineering to build on good ideas and designs.
I ordered 8" drivers and 2" Dome twitter from US speaker manufacturer and found out they are made in China. Now I rather buy direct from China save a lot.

400Euro is like almost twice I've paid for them, for that price I wouldnt even consider getting them. Ali does 1:1 exchange rate on usd to eur, which is fraud in my opinion, so its alway better to change currency in the settings to $ and let the bank do the exchange. Also, check the final price right before the payment as it will be reduced by VAT. But yes, for 400Eur I wouldnt even consider getting them.
@@k4syx Tom, that's the price Ali shows me and in US$ it‘s the same, nothing changes! No idea why you can get things cheaper? I certainly can't. 😅 (Xuck)
So they claim it can reach 40 khz but you can hear them only going to 25 khz...my, my, my...one of the highest notes in music is the highest key in the piano and it doesn't reach 5 khz...by the way, audiologists don't measure hearing beyond 7 or 8 khz because it is pointless, but you can hear 25 khz...yeah, right😂
What I meant here was that from two given numbers (40kHz vs 25kHz) the second one was closer to reality. They actually can reach that far, as there is no info on dB for that limit and it can be something like -6dB or -9dBs - that trick is often used by more renowned brands too. BTW I am doing audiogram test on more or less regular basis and my hearing goes to 16kHz, albeit that frequency test tone is absolute top limit as I have to be well rested and 100% focused to get that one right. And the tone there is not something I can hear like other sounds, its more like recognizing presence of something or lack of something in the air. Weird stuff ;)
When you do not gonna buy one, it is massive long video. When you wanna have pair of these speakers, wait 2 months for arrival to europe, this long and all measurements, even widths, insides, sound comparisons, comments on value the speaker gives - this is pure gold for interested buyer. Cheap audio man has new speaker every week under his door, sent by companies, but only hifi zone can give you chinese, he is the king of value. He could do 2 hour review with comaprison of every chinese art amp he reviewed, connected ro these speaker and assess value you get. So 10 minutes video that adds nothing but website specs and comment that treble is warm and you have no real assessment of system value that reviewed speaker gets. I wanna buy Nautilus M3 150W speakers. Especially when he says they beat his martin logan ascent electrostats haha. I wanna buy value and feel high end so much that compares to a winning lottery ticket. I already won my things with dartzeel, ocxo adum3166 with r-core lps and new power cable. I could rise volume level up 100 % on everything and still listen for short period, without turning down volume which is from another level world, i do not know anyone who can do that without leaving the house. HiFi zone effect rippling thru dimensions.
Well I try to do videos that I would like to see myself if I would be looking for info on something I consider buying. One of the reasons I've started this channel was that there already is a lot of sponsored channels that in 5 minutes will tell you that everything is the best thing since sliced bread. And it actually may be the case, but I would like to know WHY its the best thing. Just too many times I bought something that most reviewers were praising and it turned out to be really bad. Case in point: all B&W true wireless IEMs. I got both PX versions and they are simply bad, muddy and too expensive if you have any comparison. But every single review praised them for being nicely warm, relaxed, true to company traditions etc.
Ha Ha so the Chinese company thought ....A buyer who is not really an audiophile might hopefully mistake the proper B&W brand for these cheap knock offs. Wow I got me a real bargain !
I think they rather went for the good box design. However, in the manufacturers photos there are some pictures that are looking more like real 805 and this may be misleading on purpose. Hard to tell really :)
I'm sorry sir that you've been disappointed with our service. I will have our customer relations manager contact you for details on refund for your ticket. More seriously, no, it's not a sound demo :)

@@johnwest6224 Is that stereo one? I may take a look at this one. Some of the reviewers share they mic setup and its anything between 500 and 3k USD, I got 3 pairs of mics (2x Sennheisers and 1x shure sets) and ADC based on AKM to try to set something like Joe'nTell uses (he has some grat videos on that) but still, his setup is 5x times more expensive than what I've spent. Unfortunately good full range mics do not come cheap :/ Now I need to finde some time to set this up in repeatable way (distances, gains, source volumes etc) to have best recording quality

There are many nice design speakers from China. Hope to see more reviews of them in the future in UA-cam audiophiles community.

Very good points.
Especially detail at lower volumes...
Most of the time you have to turn the volume up to get any decent sound.
You are of course perfectly right, thats why I said I will go for bipolar electrolytes as a replacement for 18uF elcos :)
I will also have 4.7uF replaced with Jantzen Standards (already ordered).
But its a good and usefull info you got here for everyone!

@@k4syxAh, I see! That’s a really handy tip to change the currency from sterling to dollars. Thanks for that, very much appreciated.
Today in Denmark they are at $471 and free shipping. Maybe these reviews somehow should be kept secret...
@@Moe-DK Yes I think they've raised the prices now :/
I guess they realized they got large incoming traffic (or more orders).

I still have my vintage 1995 B&W Matrix 805s. Paid $1600 for them and worth every penny.
I've had first edition 705's with original stands - excellent speakers!
probably ill upgrade the cross-over
Have you identified any good sub to go with these on Ali ? I tend to believe that a good and affordable sub would be great upgrade to many systems...
Ive seen something like that:
s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dl6OxwD
And I have it on my watch list.
How do you like your nht superzero with subwoofer ? I got a pair of super one and the NHT subwoofer. . I would like to try this setup later ..
Yes these are more like real bookshelf speakers, they do sound big but there are limits for the room size with these
Mind sharing how you dampen the driver?
@k4syx thanks for the reply :)
Great video enjoyed the whole thing

Bottom FR at 35hz… It sounds like I have car. May be it’s Rolls Royce? May be Volkswagen beetle? Maybe it’s a Kenworth truck?
Is there a difference 35hz at -1.5dB or -10, or -20dB?
It’s like those amps, claimed as 2x200w, with single 100w transformer
Kevlar cone asking for a bit more advanced crossover, due to persistence of resonance peak.
It has a bit more smooth FR than the original, while accurately maintaining general character of the original FR
It is a very good speaker .. the uograde may make it excellent !
Thats what I hope for! The caps shuld be here tomorrow :)
I am still trying to optimize the mid range of these speakers
One funny thing to share ..
Glad you're back, chief. So what is this basket dampening mod.?
I wish they would just sell the cabinet - I would love to put a Purify bass driver into it with a decent tweeter
You may be able to find some for sale; they have cabinets though i don't recall this exact one

Once the crossover is replaced with a custom one it and properly damped inside this could be rather good!
Exactly, they are really good as they are and there is still room for the upgrade. There is a polyfill inside, I forgot to mention it in the right part of the video so I've added that at the very end with some shots of the internal brace. These boxes are really well made.

@@tmdillon1969 There is a chance that they just bought a few buckets of these for a good price :)
They seem to be quite a bit smaller than the 805's. wasn't sure until you put your hand on one of them.
Yes they are, once you see them you realize that they cannot be mistaken for the real 805. But they are quite heavy and the cabinets are very good!
I thought that maybe a hand will give better scale than numbers alone :)
Thanks for the review! Can you please give a link for the 2 tracks you commented on for testing ?
Christopher Tin - "Baba Yetu", "Hey now" by London Grammar (thats the one with the whine in right channel but thats some vinyl to FLAC grab) , "Hymn to the fallen" by John Williams (Saving Private Ryan OST) - these are the ones I mentioned in video.
Interested in testing active monitor speakers like the Kali IN 5 ? They have a great reputation concerning soundstage. And they go down to 39Hz.
I have the Kali Lone Pine LP-6 Second Wave and they are amazing. I’m running them with a Schiit Saga 2 preamp and the sound is ridiculously good.
If I will be able to get them with good price then sure :)
I'm buying my stuff myself so I always need to have a good offer as these are all investments :)
Hi - did you use pink noise or just music to let them burn in?
I owned 705 and other B&W mid-range speakers and as you say tweeters here are nothing like bowers ones :)
Its just a metal pipe that looks similar.
Exactly, when I saw the photos I decided to get them even if for the cabinets alone!
There isn't much point to Chinese speaker makers cloning foreign products any more; they've upped their game. I bought some origninal speakers from Swans HiVi, and they're absolutely fantastic.
Exactly!
Question is it MDF or chipboard.
@@k4syx I tought so you cant "dig" deeper than 100Hz :)

Nice review! Thanks for it!

What I meant about the detail is that they retain the detail at higher volumes, they do not have problem with lack of detail in low volume :)
Cheers!
Glad you feel better. Cheap drivers and relatively thin cabinet walls. You can get much better than this s/H.
Thanks! Its way better this week - finally :)
Actually the cabinets are very good and the last thing I would say is that they are thin. They are thicker than in my Dali Opticons and Ikons.
The drivers are cheap, the crossover is cheap, but they sound good and there is a room to improve them significantly with minimum expense so all in all they do get my recommendation (as long as you can get them for the price I got with 50USD coupon)
This is to close to elac debut 3.0 in price. I would be surpriced if they compete vs those withiut mods
Elac, Wharfedale and few others are great at pushing the boundaries.
They look much better than the B&W 705 for the cost they are quite a catch.
Yes the cabinets got my attention - I thought adter seeing some more photos that these are worth the price alone, and they turned to be superb small speakers too :)

@@yvesboutin5604 I am thinking about that, I will measure the one that its there when I will be replacing caps and I will check the prices for something air core.
🙄🧐😕5 rubbles...
I dont know what people posting about "Fake, "Copy", etc. If you barely know speakers ,those here have nothing remotely to do with anything from B&W....besides those 805/705 B&W speakers are not exactly top tier and leave a lot to be desired for. You only have to look inside one , then you know.🥴
Exactly - these are somewhat similiar, but they cannot be mistaken for real 805. And the drivers are completely different, its not like you can fool anyone that will listen to them just by having yellow membrane
What's inside the 805 that you aren't keen on that other speakers do better? I'm curious.
@@MrsZambezi the crossover for example is like 25$ of parts...not really convincing.
@@themountain59 The performance is convincing however. Perhaps this is because capacitors, resistors and inductors don't need to be expensive.
@@MrsZambezi 🙄😂 well, everybody is entitled to a opinion
Nie myślałeś żeby robić dwie wersje filmu? Polską i Angielską? Bo kanał bardzo fajny i fajne sprzęty recenzujesz. Ale z całym szacunkiem, nie jestem w stanie wytrzymać całego filmu z Twoim angielskim.
Haha to prawda pod koniec się samemu łapie ten akcent. A wystarczyłoby by zamiast “i” wymawiał miękkie “y” i już by było o 95% lepiej.
My English is an oldschool ponglish :D
I realize that, but Im afraid its to late for me to loose some of the bad stuff there. And it doesnt really help that I work from people from all over the world: its not getting any better nor cleaner.
@@10secondsrule Oldschool ponglish! :)
Any words in particular that could be an example here? I will try to pay attention in future.
Its not that its much work, its more about me having little time as I do all these in my free time after my regular job. So it takes long time to get something done.
But I really would like to have these also in our laguage and when It will be possible, I will have them like that!
Doesn't look much like the speaker it's copied from. Won't sound like it either.
За такую цену лучше Klipsch - 600M купить, чем это говно. На Амазон стоит 349$, можно купить за 270$.
So you've heard both and can compare? What differences in sound quality would you describe?
Also, RP-600M are twice the price... It's 250$ vs 575$..
@k4syx на Amazon Klipsch RP-600M стоит 349$, со скидками 270$.
@@k4syx На Амазон Klipsch RP-600M стоит 349$.
I don't see how they can be so great with a stamped frame cheap looking driver....cheap x-over components. How can you recommend these for $350 usd?!?
Same. Cheap elac or something might be a better option
@@stijnvanderlooy5311 if you dont hear them you will never know ;)
I got them for 250.
Shame to Chinese
Round 400€ for a cheep joke? Is me to mutch! I was thinking by me, Chines Consuma Speakers must be "Bullshit" and I see now, so is it only the Case is rady for useing :-D Thx.
Look for 400€ U can buy:
Wharfedale Diamond
Polk Audio Signature Elite ES20
Klipsch R-50M
DALI Spektor 2
and so on...
😅 (Xuck)
I paid about $250 for mine a year ago. I saw some for around $259 yesterday. Look harder.

@@MLantier Perhaps Tom becomes super-prices, because he buy all what Ali has into there stock 😛
Actually , pretty rough looking construction
Yes it's not the finesse they went for :)
So they claim it can reach 40 khz but you can hear them only going to 25 khz...my, my, my...one of the highest notes in music is the highest key in the piano and it doesn't reach 5 khz...by the way, audiologists don't measure hearing beyond 7 or 8 khz because it is pointless, but you can hear 25 khz...yeah, right😂
It's pretty easy to measure frequency response. So, maybe just passing that info on?
遲早被人告侵犯版權😂
Why? :D
Am I copying someone? :)
I'm not going to bother watching this it's too long, speaker reviews should be around 15-20 minutes.
Where can I find other official guidelines for different review type lengths? ;)
Way to much talking, way to long
So just as usual😅
@@MsSasuke0pl Thanks!
@@10secondsrule yes, exactly! :)
gotta be consistent, right?
Ha Ha so the Chinese company thought ....A buyer who is not really an audiophile might hopefully mistake the proper B&W brand for these cheap knock offs. Wow I got me a real bargain !
I think they rather went for the good box design.
However, in the manufacturers photos there are some pictures that are looking more like real 805 and this may be misleading on purpose.
Hard to tell really :)
All that talking, and no sound demo? Not good…..
Yes I am working on some stereo mic setup to get sound demos right (not crappy phone recordings) as these are imho different thing from reviews
40 mins video and no 5 mins of music test.. Thank you.. NO!
I'm sorry sir that you've been disappointed with our service. I will have our customer relations manager contact you for details on refund for your ticket.
More seriously, no, it's not a sound demo :)
Not buy just watch. Prefer hear it not your impressions
@@johnwest6224 And thats the problem, the really god quality mics for demos are 3000USD and thats waaaaay above my budget. Im trying to set something cheaper, but I have to little free time when im getting home from the office
I don't think that the "reviewers in yt use expensive microphones.. I ve a hi8 Sony camera. Cost: 300 eu. The built in microphone is unbelievable...
Unfortunately good full range mics do not come cheap :/
Now I need to finde some time to set this up in repeatable way (distances, gains, source volumes etc) to have best recording quality
