He definitely refined the verse/chorus structure
It's a great song even here, but the addition of unpredictability in the 'Deceiver' version is a key to why Cole has become a great songwriter. The double-time rave-up is cool here though, it would be fun to hear them segue into that again. It's vastly more Cure-esque

Are you referring to their uninspired fashion sense? Cause I think that the irony of it is that people relate to this non chalant approach of apparel. It's not pretentious.

You should've pointed out the actual hardships they had to still have made it thru and be succeeding (so proud of Cole, he beat me on staying clean but I finally got off heroin myself and will have 2 years this 18th coming up so it's great to have the music to relate with about the same hellish journey. Especially since we both have the ssme.adfictions and similar mental health stuff. I met him.irl when he only literally just got out of rehab and just went head on right after into and then did the is the is are tour and like doing thay right after makes him such a badass if you experienced itt before csuse its not fucking easy at all to fucntion at all the first few years or more in recovery... anwyays ingot lucky tho and got to see andrew and cole b4 they were on next and talked with cole all.about recovery cause i was onmy 3rd true attempt clean then and had almost a year and couple months and he was only the 90 days of rehab and about 3 months into the tour clean with him ssying around pnly 120ish days clean or so which blew my.mind but got me even more inspired by him after alresdy having him being my fav artist alive rn (elliott smith is his and.my.fav of all time artists btw for a fun factt!) So cole is legit a badass, he is very geuine and very sweet/nice with willingness to meet and give full attention and respect to his fans along eith andrew (the other guys i bet are cool tooo but there was struggles with the bassist wanting to leave but staying to finish the tour.for the band and show supoort for cole in very new sobriety so I get it
They are all only human, right?Not super heros, although i think cole might be related to one tbh with all his accomplishments imo lmaos )I could prove I did meet them if my covet narcissistic ex didn't hack and steal my old yt channel that I had it uploaded on under a link to view only so u know I'm being legit and not spewing made up garbage and gossip crap like some weirdo.. but I dont have any reason too if any want to do a "and things that didnt happen" comment lol
My point tho is that cole has successfully gotten clean after such a rough situation and the struggle from 2013-2019 was hell altogether not just the addiction situation cole was living with that I won't get into cause it's public knowledge if super curious to peice together.. but alone getting and staying clean is a huge accomplishment but everything and the industry they work a career in is all against extreme odds.for failure to stay in recovery, let alone survive it and stay alive or have the band still.together and functioning healthy/properly and still to this day and onwards! So that is what I would have said instead of the clothes comment personally, but its not me trying to give any negative dick stuff towards ya by saying that btw! (In fact you're actually already been proven with past evidence to have yr theory (i guess to describe it? Lol) for bringing up clothes is in old articles and stuff to back up and make your clothes claim legit from it being reported as a thing that a. Lot Of critics back in the day were from too nuch drsma and stuff to explain quick but basically wwre trying hard af to use as a reason amd otherz for the eventual downfall of what they claimed was medicore music bound to end as the quick trend ends and stuff like that and we're working to get diiv to fail or thru claims get ppl and the music industry to not support them or allow them to book tours etc so they would evntuslly not succeed... this was especially bad when they then got to find out about and were using the arrest in 2013 when he was with sky still (she was the mainnreason for the press/media even talking about diiv and or cole at all so it was almost a blessing even tho sad and awful they didnt work out and she broke up with hi m when it occurred cause it could be a legit factor that has lead to them making it still since i thought of that and just peiced it together being cery possible in the moment lol but its onot importsnt
Dont take that as fact pls anybody!) As a weapon to sabotage diiv/cole along with other stuff on top of that with thr addiction starting in.2012 or so. I remember still most of the stuff when it happened in and then finally died out slowly into a silence in 2013-2015ish btw. The press stopped bringing up the arrest and addiction claims once cole admitted struggles and did his first attempt at recpvery and staying clean with rehab and detox in 2015 amd thats when they at least also gave himmsupport with him sharing the 2nd album would be in support and honest about addiction etc lmao basicallythey have had hell the whole time and chaos didnt rly end fully until cole got clean in 2019 as everyone else like andrew and his alcoholism got clean earlier and Thankfully stuck thru and supported cole to make it to where they are today cause it is so important in recovery to haVe genuine support system etc..
Anyways I got into a huge tangent of diiv unimportant facts and shit to explain my pint for changing the part in yr comment and I apologize for it being so long, but felt like find might enjoy knowing about diiv and cole more and feel like they deserve recognition for doing so kuch and being so amazing with succeeding and kicking ass at making it maintenenced to stay succeeding and gift us with music that for me personallyis huge and has been apart of all that I needed to stay alive and share this comment with all of you right now and I beg its been a huge positive influence on all of you and yr lives with the impact the music they have shared with us, but is also awesome how they committed to giving genuine respect and love/care to support us back as fans by staying a genuine band that makes sure it keeps going and will succeed and give us more today but also the future that I'm confident in saying appears to be very likely to last for a good while at least another decade.. I hope for a life time ofc but want what is best and makes everyone happiest in life if diiv did end tomorrow even. But I bet if it did that cole and andrew, the other members have and do their own or other nuaic projects btw like andrew and his other band released a full album awhile back,, back up singer and stuff has his own project, etc if any of u were not aware and even cole did a cool one and more than a few outside diiv so it wouldn't be the last of music from them I highly doubt if diiv ends... which is also what I wanted to end with being another big thing to prove that they are amazing and shit MD to go with yr comments theme that they will continue to give even after diiv ends 98% confident in claiming that btw lol
Anyways that's all I got... sorry its so long and all overwhelmed place. Just felt important to give cole recognition I feel he deeply deserves
ole is also a huge advocate in public about addiction education now and helping in a way making sure that fot what is possible he now makes sure to always be 0open and real about it with his music lyrically wise and has made the 3nd is the is are and 3rd album themed.almodt entirely on life and addiction involved etc btw if you weren't aware:) )

You're right about that for sure Pamela, his voice is flat and it just seems pretty built in a improvised way.
One interview they mentioned that they tried to play the songs live before they went in the studio.
