Awesome review! Guess I'll wait for an APS-C version.
Price point is great!
I agree, and for the optical quality it produces, it's the best affordable option for those using AF in my opinion if the chunky weight is not an issue... Thanks for the comments!
Thank you. It would be great to know why should anyone buy this heavy lens - regardless the low cost - in a category full with other models🤔
Unless one is into back pain development or bodybuilding.
Thanks and that is a great point! For example the Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 Lens goes for $250 US and it's mostly plastic so very light weight, but has more distortion, fringing, and is not as sharp in the corners at f/1.8 as this lens. It also does not have the manual aperture ring or af/mf switch... However the focus ring on the Sony is a easier to turn if that matters to you... I reviewed the Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 Lens while comparing it to the Sony FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA Lens a really long time ago here: ua-cam.com/video/X0zwdsvhC-Q/v-deo.html The Viltrox 50mm f/1.8 Lens goes for $360 US and is pretty well built and notable lighter than the 7artisans lens, but it has softer corners and pretty bad fringing also. That review is here: ua-cam.com/video/eqmO5juV4sU/v-deo.html I hope that helps and all the best, Jay
@@Jason_Hermann thank you
Good review.
Thanks!
A curious question: Are there people over eighty years of age who are very elderly people who own and will use modern smart phones???@@Jason_Hermann
I know it's not actually the same focal length, but what do you think of the Ttartisan 56 1.8? Have you had a chance to review that?
I actually have one sitting right here and was pumped to test it out, but it doesn't work... Mounts, but is not recognized by the camera.
@@Jason_Hermann Wow. Hopefully you can get it working.
I just traded my Sony 50 1.8 but I am thinking of buying the Sony A7R2 but I needed a new full frame 50 I think this is it, great quality and price.
I have tested this lens with the Sony A7R2. Honestly, this lens produces good colors and details. In my opinion, the autofocus is quite fast but not too fast
Hi Jason, between this lens and the Sony 55mm Zeiss f1.8, what do you recommend? Thanks.
I would go with the Zeiss personally for the better build quality, AF motor, and micro contrast in particular, but the Zeiss has that nasty purple/ red fringing you need to fix in post. The Zeiss also has a "look" to it which makes it very special in my opinion, and I feel like you can clearly see that if you watched my video on that lens... In addition it's hard to put a spec on that type of thing. With all that being said for the money, this 7artisans lens is a great option optically no question. It's very sharp, has very good contrast, and it's honestly crazy cheap! All the best, Jay
@@Jason_Hermann Thank you! I will go with the Zeiss then.
I got an excellent quality one from MPB for $330. So far, I like it a lot, it seems to have more contrast and a pop factor to it. Thanks again for the recommendation.
