Have you tried Circassia? If not, what's the hardest EU4 nation you've tried? Also let me know if you'd like to see a Dithmarschen campaign sometime soon!
I get so mad I did Dithmarschen before they got the huge rework: my biggest achievement in the cheevo run though was getting to transfer all of Burgundys vassals to me after getting the age ability just a month before the age ended. Colonial/Exodus Dith is an actually amusing way of doing it, but completely meh, even though forming the USA is deeply amusing, getting all the new mission rewards requires a lot of conquering which makes going colonial irritating.
I remember one of the legends of the game (but not his name) doing an insane dithmarschen run, must be like 5 years ago. Masterful coalition handling through fighting very smart with forts, terrain etc. Id be excited to see your take on it!!
I think the part about no AE hhas to do with the fact that you are a tributary of the great horde (in other words they are your overlord). In a war if the overlord is in the same side as the subject, the immediate overlord incurs the AE penalty. So for example circassia was the immediate overlord of Samskte, so if Samskste expands, then circassia incurrs AE penalty. Great horde is the immediate overlord of circassia, so if circassia expands, then great horde incurrs the AE penalty.
Unfortunately, I'm still not able to manage those difficult starting positions; but it's great to watch you doing good with these nations! Great video 😍
circassia is one of the toughest starts out there. basically any small nation that borders the ottomans in the early game will have a bad time. in my experience of nearly 4700 hours, balkans is tough but caucasus (as non horde especially) is tougher. Before you would get claims and there was the trust system this was really tough. Now it's doable to a certain point, but around 1480 you will get problems with either ottomans, russia or persia - never made it to colonialism even after conquering crimea and georgian lands. you need to somehow make some strong alliances to stay alive and that's almost impossible because youre too weak and have no money and most lands you will expand in are either muslim or coptic; but the orthodox horde flavor is really something I want to try out in the future - other possibility is great horde get zealots and flip ;)
I think I saw someone mentioning your channel in Para Bellum comments but this is the first video of yours I've seen. Good content, I always like seeing smaller, less popular nations played. I'll have to check out more of your videos later ;)
First thing i see after a nap. Life is good. I think a ditsmarschen run would be pretty fun and interesting Have you considered making a playthrough of third odyssey as elysia? Its a pretty fun mod but maybe a bit too slow for some. I really like the lore of the mod so hopefully you like it
The hardest country i played was the isles (the vassal of scotland) and to conquer all of great Britain with it that’s for me the hardest country i played
I only watched first 10 minutes of the video , but in your situation I believe that either owning or vassalizing Trebizond + Samshtske is the best way to proceed . You have 2 mountain forts out of which one of atleast lvl 3 . War with the Ottomans is inevitable anyway . Also , for some reason having 2 opm vassals has a lot more impact on diplomacy than owning those respective 2 provinces , so more access to diplomacy and more support for when ottos will attack
Wasn't a good idea vassalizing trebizond in this video as the Ottomans attacked them at the same time. Not prepared for a defensive war w/o allies. Otherwise i would agree that it's nice ot have these forts
Its a good video. However, it feels like its over too soon. I can completely understand not wanting to play out the 1700s (or earlier) extreme blob phase, but this wasn't really done with the challenging phase.
Even savescumming (because the game is an arsehole at times) you still need things to go your way, a bit of luck. New players need to learn that some games are just more cursed than others, restart, try again. I´ve been banging my head against a wall trying Najd campaigns.

Maybe give Dithmarschen a try with Europa Expanded?

Historically accurate Circassian experience. Unfortunately they got genocided by Russia

Great intro man! Very cool video
I’ve always wanted to do a Finland game where I swap to Circassian culture for maximum attrition

The best thing to do with Circasia: Flip to Georgia.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to show the more difficult wars whenever I'll do a new campaign in Caucasia or surrounding areas
Dithmarschen would be fun.
