    Love your postcards, Robin. I don't live near the ocean, so think of it in terms of whales and fishes, and maybe starfishes. But the squid took me by surprise. Yes, you have squids. LOL - I definitely need educating . ... and that's what you do. Love your videos Robin. Please keep them coming. They are enjoyable, entertaining, and educational. Oh! The Three E's!!!! See you in next video.

    Thank you sweetness for showing your quick way of creating the post cards in bulk. You're right the issue with batting getting in my mat began to bug me too. Then the light bulb came on, I decided to cut the batting to the exact size of the post card, sew on the fabrics then place it face down and use the batting as my template. No cutting through the thickness, no measuring, it's made squaring up a pleasure lol xx

    I am late to the party again. This week was the dental surgery. Now recovering and looking forward to getting into projects. First I need to clean up my sewing area. I don't have to clean each day as I did when all the family was here. I do like to tidy before the next big sewing. Thanks for the great information. 🤗

      He Ellen. Sound alike your dental surgery went well. So happy to hear that. I hope your recovery is speedy. Dental surgery is never pleasant but it’s necessary. Tidy things up now and when you’re feeling better your sewing area will be clean and ready to go. A nice fresh start.

    Thank you for doing this video!! I will rewatch it again to get all the info. I’m thinking of making mine into small thank you notes for my customers…so maybe like 1/2 of an index card size…but I’ll need to work on that. Again, thanks!!!

      You’re very welcome. Many people use index cards to make their postcards. I think using them as thank you notes is a great idea. If you’re going scrappy you can even make one full index card and cut It in half. Have fun!

    Hi Robin, thanks a lot for this summary. Fabric postcards are really on my to sew list for quite a while and I hope that I can give it a try soon. Maybe with a squid on? 🤔 Unfortunately the postcard charges and also letters in Germany do not only depend on the size but also on the weight, so sending fabric postcards by mail will be quite expensive. Might use them as greetings cards then (and personally give to the recipient). Xoxo from Germany Stephanie

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  2 роки тому +2

      We have to watch the size, weight, and thickness of our cards and letters too. It’s a shame that mailing a birthday card is cost prohibitive. Hand delivery them is fun too.

    🦑 is not going to replace 🦩is it? Thanks for the update/reminder about fabric postcards. Have you ever used just card stock for the back? I’m wondering if something like this would work for teacher thank you notes.

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  2 роки тому +1

      Many have used card stock. It works wonderfully but It wasn’t the feel I was going for with my cards. Granted many are just scrappy fabrics and not fancy but many people like to collect them and display them on a shelf. The comic book boards allow them to stand on their own. Plus when I make one that’s actually artistic then It will be more substantial. I always say make one and see how you feel about It. If card stock works for thank you cards then why not? My word of warning is for the way you do the outer edge or border. If you do a tight zig zag stitch then It can perforate the card stock and separate It from the quilted side. If you prefer a satin stitch edging then I suggest a straight stitch just inside the satin stitching. That way your postcard will stay together. That’s what I do with any cards that are sent to me that have separated. Have fun!

    I love those cards. I made one a year ago (super sewing beginner) and it turned out nice but got side tracked with other projects lol. What size clear bags do you use for those? HL does carry them and would just as soon pick some up there as I probably won't need as many as you do. Also I love the mat under your machine....little bit of everything techniques....very nice! Tfs

    • @rsislandcrafts

      My friend buys her clear sleeve at hobby lobby. They’re just slightly larger than my postcards. What I’ve done in the past is fold over the excess, scotch tape It down, and then add the address label right over It. The tape holds It in place until you can add the label. The adhesive label holds It in place nicely. I think this makes the card and envelope look neater and It avoided that loose flappy bit from getting caught in the machinery at the post office.
      Thank you! I made my mat with my patrons but I also made a similar QAYG mat here on UA-cam.
