      Thank you. I love using my scraps for fabric postcards. People seem to love the simple one fabric cards as much as the mini quilt versions. I love sending out fabric postcards to friends.

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  6 місяців тому +2

      Thank you so much. Some machines can be finicky. Are you using the comic book board or card stock? If the comic book boards that I use then you might need to drop down to the card stock so it’s not as thick and stiff. You could also try a large needle like a jeans needle. Good luck.

    Hi I just happened on this tutorial I know it's a couple of years old. What I'm wondering is what amount of postage do you put on this postcard postage or first class letter postage? These are just adorable and I have thousands of ideas to put on them.

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  Рік тому +1

      I use a standard forever first class stamp that you’d use on a standard envelope or birthday card.

    I laughed out loud , when you said “ or it will look like mine and have the postman’s foot 🦶 print on it. 😂 that’s a neat idea Robin, i love doing fabric postcards. Where did you get the clear plastic envelope at ? You might of said. I need to listen again and check. I was to busy laughing 😂 at that statement you said and picturing the postman’s foot 🦶 print on all your mail. Thanks again i want to get that clear plastic stuff.

    Watched your tutorial about sending a fabric post card. I like all the details and I have a question- does quilting on the fabric post card get “ stuck” thru the mail -I think it’s best to send a pc with cellophane clear cover and then a envelope after that. What I’m trying to ask is- can’t sent a fabric post card with collage or plain fabric with no quilting and no covers? I think you said this but shouldn’t do this? Correct? Where do i get those clear covers, btw and shouldn’t send that too?

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  4 роки тому +2

      Based on the way my postal manager explained to me, if you sew a collage style fabric postcard then It will need to be hand cancelled. Hand cancelling takes longer and costs more to mail your fabric postcard. I’ve heard some post offices no longer hand cancel items so you would need to them place your postcard in a standard envelope. There is a link in the description box below this video for the clear envelopes. I purchase mine in packs of 100 but you may be able to find smaller packs.

      I got my clear envelopes from envelopes from amazon. I just types in 4x6 clear envelopes in the search and then got the one w the best reviews. I believe it was about $8 for 100. I have been very happy with them. My post office will still mail them. But they did say that some larger offices dont like to bc they are so busy. Hope that helps!!

      I bought It on Etsy. There are shops that sell a variety of postage gauges depending on what you’re shipping or if it’s international. I bought it under an old Etsy sign in that i no longer use but I found this. Maybe you can do a comparison search based on this listing. www.etsy.com/listing/270758239/usps-thickness-gauge-postal-gauge-letter?ref=shop_home_active_1&crt=1

    Do you need to put the white paper there or can the post office print a sticker barcode on top of the sleeve itself?

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  2 роки тому +1

      The postmaster that I spoke too said we need some type of paper on the outside of the envelope. Otherwise the machine won’t be able to stamp It and their barcodes won’t be readable.
