JESUS died for our sins on the cross, HE shed HIS holy, innocent , precious blood for us (HIS blood washes away ALL sins) HE was buried but on the third day GOD raised HIM from the dead. All you have to do to be saved is: Believe in JESUS, trust in HIS blood. JESUS did everything for you, no works are required for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The ink itself is important, too. Some are "wetter" than others, some pens write wetter, too. A perfect match up of pen, ink and paper will make fountain pen writing downright sublime.

You summed that up so well! I have three pens that I consider “married” to particular inks, because they never have problems with consistent flow, cleaning, or leaks. Also, the pen color and ink color generally go together well. It’s such a happy occasion when I figure out a perfect pairing! (Like my Pelikan M205 with Taccia Uguisu, or my TWSBI Rose Gold with Diamine Ancient Copper. Happy pens with gorgeous inks.)

I agree with Kymberly and Angela. Try a cheap but good one like the Preppy. They come with a cartridge, so you don’t have to worry about ink at first. It’s all about writing easily, very little pressure. Enjoy the act of putting pen to paper. You will feel more elegant and beautiful if you let yourself! Hugs, hope you try.

As the most of my writing is correspondence, I have found Clairefontaine Triomphe the best for my needs. I have some truly awful number 10 envelopes that I use for my bills, but it's a Clairefontaine envelope for the other things.
You didn't mention that the Clairefontaine envelopes have a perforated side for easy opening. Is this just something that the 50 count "envelope pads" have, or is it something that they all have? (Mine are 80 GSM C6, if I remember correctly.)

I went back to fountain pen use after years of not using it. My work does not allow to use them for doc signing etc. But I went back to college and I remembered how much I hate writing with ballpoints and the likes. I have a death grip on them and my writing is shockingly bad looking.
So recently I got Lamy Studio and never looked back. Now time to get to the point:
I was making my study notes in regular, cheap notebook and was very annoyed at how scratchy the pen felt. So I watched few videos and decided to buy few Rhodia notebooks. OH MY GOD WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE! I WILL NEVER EVER BUY CHEAP RUN OF THE MILL NOTEBOOK IN MY LIFE!!!!
My fiancee came back from work I gave her my pen and asked to write something in the old notebook first and than on Rhodia page. The moment she started writing in Rhodia she said: wow! So smooth.
And cherry on top: writings don't smudge when highlighted anymore!!!

I ‘m sure that if I wrote ( your printing) like that, not using the line as a reference and in between the two lines would produce an uneven form and take me all day to do a letter, let alone take notes. Your demo writing looks nice but not practical for everyday writing when several pages are written. Rhodia 80 gsm seems to perform well for me.

I really want to try fountain pens. But all of this seems overwhelming. 😕

I can't find a calligraphy notebook for a good price here in Mexico. Every notebook under 5 dollars is the same generic product and I'm on a tight budget.
Standard notebooks just aren't good enough for my Uniball Vision.

A terrible explanation of feathering, and why it happens. I truly hate "shading". It just looks like a sloppy mess you'd find coming out of a one dollar pen on a Walmart clearance isle. When I was young, everyone hated it. Then marketers took over, used the Microsoft approach and said is was a feature, not a bug. Bad, cheaqp, poorly formulated ink started selling like crazy.
Now everyone who enters the fountain pen world is told that "shading" is great, beautiful, and might even cure cancer.
I also hate Tomoe River paper, which is another thing we're all supposed to love. Yes, it displays ink better than any other paper. But it does this by making ink dry on the surface, which also means a lot of dye is left on the surface. I've seen this dye come back to life years later, sometimes just from high humitity. Or I guess that was the cause. We couldn't thgink of another reason. Dry time on TR can take forever. Some onks, largely bulletproof inks, can take days to reach the point where they won't smudge. Sometimes they never reach this point.
Ghosting can be terrible. So bad you can only use one side of the paper. Tomoe River paper is already very expensive, but it costs twice as much when you can only use one side. It also creases very easily. I've seen and had a page crease badly just from turning the page.
Tomoe River paper is simply NOT a good choice for writing you want to last for many years, or decades. And it's took expensive to use for writing you'll just through away in an hour, or even a week. All you can do is write on it, say, "Hey, the ink looks great on this paper", and then throw it away.
There are just too many excellent fountain pen papers out there to use one that costs too much, and that has so many drawbacks.
    Just my four cents.

My Kanso Noto book is neither worth the hype nor the money. It is is step above Moleskine but that's not saying much. It must contain the new Tomoe River paper, as the paper is rough, prone to feathering, liable to jam nibs with loose fibers and does not allow the extent of shading characteristic of the original Tomoe River paper. When the current book is full, I will not be replacing it with another Kanso Noto.

Totally speaking for myself here... While I love the jetpens videos, the speed at which they do writing videos and examples are not realistic for me in real life. I write way faster... and of course my hand writing is no where as neat or pretty! 🤣😂
