I like it. And considering the fact it sounds like it's gonna be cheap, I might even consider getting it! It looks like a concept car rather than a production car. I know there are gonna be TONS of haters saying this isn't "jeep worthy" but come on. An off road ready rig no bigger than a scion xB? That's cool to me. It's there company. They do what they want.
Joshua Price Yeah I really like this vehicle. I guess most people don't like it because of it's looks? This is going to be my first new car, because I need something that will effortlessly tear through these treacherous Pennsylvania winters so I can get to work. That's a huge deal for me because I couldn't hold jobs due to bad transportation. Looking forward greatly to getting my Renegade before the end of this year!
***** You sound like a parent chastising their kid for doing something stupid. Have some common sense and do research before buying a car? No kidding? Man I look up restaurant reviews before I go somewhere new. I've done so much research on this thing that I know what extras I want in it and what it should cost. Dealers have prices jacked up everywhere for this. Every car has problems and if no one bought cars because of they were scared of problems, we'd all be walking and cycling. You're the one who sounds like he got burned by this thing. Did you do your research? If you don't have one and you haven't experienced the problems personally, you have no space to comment on it.
***** Honda Accords have never had recalls? My family had a Chevy Cobalt for 10 years with no major problems even though there was the deadly ignition switch recall, that didn't effect ours (we had it checked and it was fine). We traded it in for the Trax, which had a recall for power steering. So yes, just type any car into Google and add "recalls". More than likely you'll find something for whatever car you search for. The Jeep Cherokee had a similar transmission problem, but by the looks of everyone driving them it seems they're selling well. Give it a year or two if Jeep keeps working on it and the Renegades will be fine. It's so extremely early in their arrival to even be arguing about it.
***** Well if there's problems already with the Renegade transmissions, then surely the damn thing will fall through the floor before 5 years or 60,000 miles. If someone has the money to buy a brand new car, then it's likely they have a nice savings account for emergencies, those who budget right for themselves. I would never go in and buy a car without back up money in the bank. So don't you worry about me. Go tell other people what to do.
I got to take the Renegade offroad here in Europe on a motrocross track. It is tons of fun to drive and surprisingly good on the circuit. It was a 2.0 Diesel with 140 HP an engine that I doubt you will see in the US.
Really liked the candid way you guys filmed this one. Felt a lot more natural, more like over hearing a good convo instead of someone *only* towing the company line.
you're both right. Fiat and Chrysler are both benefiting greatly from coming together. Chrysler's fuel economy and interior quality has greatly improved in the past year or so
muhahaha Fiat has a worse reliability record than Chrysler which is on the bottom so double bottom in reliability. Ill buy the all American built Xterra for the same price muhahahaha
I dissed it at first. But looking at it here and hearing what it all about made me second think it all. Can't wait o hear what you guys have to say about it after you drive it.
ive driven the AWD trax 1.4 turbo and it does very very well in the snow. I would have to try this but the 4x4 is probably open diff so I'm leaning towards the trax XD
i'm not sure if it just a feeling, but i feel with all those cooperations between the car brands it gives the manufacturers a better possibilty to rethink what makes their brand special and implement that rather than always look over to what the other guys are doing and copying it.
I didn't like the styling at first (I was hoping it would look more like the Willys2 concept from 2002) but the styling has grown on me. It clearly looks like a Jeep, has good interior quality and features, is off-road capable, and will probably be the most fuel efficient Jeep ever. Heck, I might consider getting one if the fuel economy is good.
Pretty neat... if the MPGs are up there and it can get out of its own way, I would consider it for a fun commuter. I'm currently driving a '13 Subaru Crosstrek and coming up on 34k miles at 16 months of ownership; Averaging 35.7 mpg on my 100 mile (round trip) daily commute in rural northern Maine.
I do prefer the looks of this over the Cherokee. As far as price goes, id probably still prefer this. Both the Renegade and Cherokee have pretty darn good interiors.
Looks great. Such a great entry level vehicle for kids or a fun weekender for hitting the beach, mountains with a little off road use. No it's not a Wrangler, but it is a nice alternative to what is out there. If I were 20 something, newly married with a baby seat need I would be all over it.
Has it been confirmed if the Trailhawk will have the MySky option? I'll assume they will offer a factory tow package since they have been testing towing at altitude. I wish that I had known they were going to be down there. I would have been stalking Castle Rock and Sedalia trying to get a peek.
Still no LED's in the headlights. This should be standard now adays. I like the big round head lights but they would look even better with some Angel Eyes.
I'm actually considering of getting it, I've started seeing those alot here in Illinois. I wanna get the 1.4l turbo 6 speed manual transmission sport edition which is the basic.
Funny, only 9 years later and the price is almost 30k for the base model and they took out the naturally aspirated engine and replaced it with a POS turbo with asinine start/stop.
I actually like it. You'd never want to take it on a serious offroad trail, but if you would like a little jeep to drive to work everyday that isn't going to empty your wallet, this could fit quite nicely. Certainly better on the trails than the Compass or Patriot. You could take it camping at least. :)

I leased my renegade trail hawk. I absolutely love it but id never buy. I just dont see it holding up in the long run in terms of reliability or resale value. 3 years and done ill get somethign else. Its fun as hell to drive escpecially when you rally it on some dirt roads or use the manual mode on the highway.
one problem, take the jeep badge off from the rear and put a nissan badge on, and you won't be able to distinguish. The brand design isn't there, especially lacking in the rear. Too.. cube-y?
Chrysler is dependable now, though if you had asked that a few years ago it'd be a big NO. Chrysler has made HUGE improvements in the past year or so and the Renegade will be better than the Rav4 in a few ways for sure. ie offroad ability, luxury, aftermarket parts, gas mileage etc. the main major difference will be presence. they Renegade will turn heads because they're kind of odd looking and some people may not know of them yet and it will be cheaper than a Rav.

Erm, they've been steadily improving since about 2009. I would probably call 2010 the cut off. But the newer the better, in the past 2yrs (2013-2014) they've made significant improvements. I hope that helps:)
Why not Made in USA to protect AMERICAN JOBS and workers..? Just as Dodge Dart II and Chrysler 200 underpinnings come from FIAT, not MADE IN USA, it will take many years for FIAT to recover from it's shoddy reputation of poor quality cars...!' Give me a Made in USA CJ-5 clone, not the over grown & wide Wrangler, which is almost too wide for Jeep trails in western Colorado mountains south of Ouray..!
C0okieman2009 Why..? It appears Toyota pickups are closer to use of Made in USA parts than any domestic brands, when Toyota built their truck assembly plant in San Antonio, parts suppliers moved to San Antonio in order to have all components easily accessible for better production & not having to depend on shipment fluctuations in instances where parts are often the reason for quality control delays found in many domestic brands..
Howard1939 I couldn't agree with you more! I personally like the idea behind the Renegade however, it's not a Jeep no matter how you slice it. And your point about the Tundra, you are correct! It's more American then most domestic brands today which is kind of odd.
Chrysler 200, Dart and EVERY OTHER Chrysler group vehicle is made in the USA or NA. Lanica Thema & Flavia (Chrysler 300 & 200) are Built in the USA/NA and Exported to Europe. This Renegade (US Spec) will be Low Volume. There is simply no way for them to build this car in the NA. It will be sold in higher volumes in Europe where Many of these small cars/trucks are sold.
stephane matis Lol, I was just about to reply with a bunch of links that are saying that this and the 500x are the only small wide 4x4 variants, but you practically took the word out of my mouth.
Isaac Brinson When I wrote that comment back when, the 500X was still a secret and only idea we knew was "500 L platform and 4x4" Curious if they'll make a Punto variant.
chief designer of jeep hmmmm. why gods name did he ever approve of the jeep Cherokees design. that thing is just flat out ugly looking. it reminds me of a love child that was spawned between an Aztec and a juke.
Is the 2.4l turbocharged? If not, I think it might be a little underpowered. I don't know who this car appeals to. The jeep fans might try to make it do what it wasn't designed for. The old cherokee had a v8 which was about the same size. Any idea about hp? thanks The Fast Lane Car
The 2.4 Tigershark engine is naturally aspirated and it makes 184 HP. My guess is it won't be under powered because the Renegade is quite small and lightweight. The Buick Encore for example, one of its competitors, is only offered with a 1.4 turbo with 140 HP and it does just fine. So, I wouldn't worry too much.
Protector of the Republic true. the Encore is the same size but it has sort of a difference purpose. the Renegade is off-road/all-terrain of course, and the Encore is a luxury small crossover so they're kind of odd to compare. the Renegade is pretty odd, it doesn't fit the small crossover segment so it doesn't really have much competition. haha The Mater the 2.4L will be plenty of power for the Renegade because it's very small. The Tigershark is the base engine in the Cherokee and it's pretty capable. and a small correction, the old Cherokee only had an I6. The Grand Cherokee had the V8 and the Cherokee is larger than the Renegade.
Protector of the Republic Jeeps 2.4(referring to a 2014 jeep patriot) has absolutely no low end torque and very weak power. If you get it mated with the 5 speed manual the clutch is very weak when trying to go up hills or pull off on an incline. It's still a fun little jeep for the city and lite off roaring. Which that said the renegade should be lighter so it should make better use of the power. Hopefully
I've had so many issues w/ my Jeep Renegade, it's ridden with electrical issues all over. I just got mine back after it being in the shop 51 days due to issues w/ the Body Control Module. Parts were on back order for months, they finally came up with software updates. They still can't get the "Service Vehicle" message off the dash, they've tried all the reset sequences and even hooking up the computer, so now they've gotta find a software fix for another module. FCA Customer Service sucks to deal with. AVOID THIS JEEP!!! I love my Grand Cherokee, and I love my Wrangler, but this FIAT is a POS! There's tons of people with same issues, but FCA refuses to admit it's an issue, yet there's 100's of back order request for the same module.
What's with all of the super shiny hard plastics everywhere? Just about everything but the dash top is shiny and cheap looking. It's an interesting looking vehicle though. Looks way too much like the 500 L though. You can tell it's the L with different fenders. Ugh...
Tomaz Hilton uhhhh, well it's built on the exact same platform in the exact same factory with the exact same engines. All they did was put some new sheet metal on the outside and some chincy looking jeep plastic interior bits. It's a fiat re badged as a jeep. Any current automotive article will reinforce this fact. Poor jeep.
So buy your Logic THe Dodge Dart looks JUST LIKE the Giulietta...cause you know...its on the same Platform (which it really is not)... The Renegade is Built on a Redesigned 500L platform. so Modified its Now a new Platform (Small US Wide "4x4") Just like the Dodge Dart Platform is a Modified Giulietta Platform (C-EVO), that later became a totally new platform (CUSW) that the Cherokee, Chrysler 200 and Other future FWD based C-D Segment cars will ride on... Infact, This Renegade will share its underpinnings with the 500 "X" Crossover that has yet to be revealed.
Looks a bit Japanese Cartoon Character of a JEEP, like a pimped Nissan Cube AWD mated with a Honda Element ?? !! Should be popular with Urbanites in Europe if it gets a diesel and parking sensors etc for the school run mums !!!
Why the HELL did they name it Renegade, when that was a trim level from previous Wranglers??? Now it just causes confusion. They should have named it Nevada or Utah or some other U.S. location.....
fuck. fiat makes the panda and it would eat this offroad. idc if its made in the states. BUT jeep is simple 2 high 4 high and 4 low.. thats all you need. no mud snow rock setting, opening diffs and a decent driver will work great. and please please make to torque low in the rpm.
I love how the head of jeep design tries to tie in the Wrangler into this car repeatedly like it will help it. Jeep should be ashamed of this oversized Tupperware container.
They're right, it's just like a wrangler! They both have windshields and 4 wheels! Nothing about that it like a wrangler. They're mental image of "jeep" is so watered down it's not even funny. All new "JEEP BRAND" vehicles are disgraceful.

Joshua Price well if Its such a "premium" vehicle then it should have high quality and reliable parts. You should get what your paying a boatload for.

Do not know if want.....but still a great video, I love the format and approach you guys have to all of your stuff
The Renegade is gonna be awesome ! and the 1.4 engine sound really great, add 4x4 on it and its gonna be a really great everyday/everyweather car
I really like this jeep.the perfect child between fiat and jeep
I really do think Fiat will save Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep
I think Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler will save Fiat
you're both right. Fiat and Chrysler are both benefiting greatly from coming together. Chrysler's fuel economy and interior quality has greatly improved in the past year or so

FIAT better save themselves first.
They are rated the WORST car manufacturer by Consumer Reports as far as building a quality product!
Motor City Man consumer reports can't be your main source. everyone knows that consumer reports are flawed when it comes to automobiles.
Looks really cool! I want one!
Wanting the blue one. But I'm scared of reliability issues with jeep 😭
I dissed it at first. But looking at it here and hearing what it all about made me second think it all. Can't wait o hear what you guys have to say about it after you drive it.

I saw one of these in Orange, could become the best selling auto in America.
muhahahahaha
David Stanley Well not David, he's not old enough to drive.
U.P. dan I bought one in Omaha Orange last week. 4x4 Latitude. 2.4 automatic 9 speed. Love it. crap load of easter eggs.
I do prefer the looks of this over the Cherokee. As far as price goes, id probably still prefer this. Both the Renegade and Cherokee have pretty darn good interiors.
The Renegade doesn't hide its Fiat-ness very much, but it should be a lot of fun to drive. This should sell well for Jeep.
I really like it. Would be the perfect daily driver for my Wife. Goes through the snow, but isn't some huge SUV.
I like this car.
It's a Nissan Juke-ish machine with that American swagger. There's definitely a market for this.
its a great competitor for the Subaru cross trek
I wish they would keep making Liberties or at least bring back the old Jeep Cherokee body style.
It looks Much better than 500L
Looks great. Such a great entry level vehicle for kids or a fun weekender for hitting the beach, mountains with a little off road use. No it's not a Wrangler, but it is a nice alternative to what is out there. If I were 20 something, newly married with a baby seat need I would be all over it.
I think it will sell well.
Love that design.
Best Review I've Seen, Finally
Mark seems like a cool guy.
Has it been confirmed if the Trailhawk will have the MySky option? I'll assume they will offer a factory tow package since they have been testing towing at altitude. I wish that I had known they were going to be down there. I would have been stalking Castle Rock and Sedalia trying to get a peek.

I love my 2015 JR Trailhawk !!
Funny, only 9 years later and the price is almost 30k for the base model and they took out the naturally aspirated engine and replaced it with a POS turbo with asinine start/stop.
You can tell this was designed by Fiat
+Marco Sartori bruh if this is ugly wait till you see your reflection in the mirror
Legacy 2.5 Limited v. Mazda6 GT? I think you all rank Mazda 6 No.1. It'd be great to see how the redesigned Legacy compares...
Now if you could change the body style of the wrangler that be great.
I love my Jeep Renegade trail hawk.
It looks like a Kia soul and the jeep patriot mated and produced this car.....not a bad looking car
its a fiat panda with jeep badges
exactly
it be a lot smaller if it based Fiat Panda is based on the Fiat 500L but with a lot more off road to it
Built in Italy ? Well, at least it'll be put together properly and be utterly reliable.
It's nice. I wouldn't buy one but it's not bad
It reminds me of the Honda element
Off road honda element. If honda re-introduces the element, they need to touch on the active lifestyle side and make and offroad trim.
im betting that the Loaded version will be closer to 30K
So this is the replacement for the Patriot?
I actually like it. You'd never want to take it on a serious offroad trail, but if you would like a little jeep to drive to work everyday that isn't going to empty your wallet, this could fit quite nicely.
Certainly better on the trails than the Compass or Patriot. You could take it camping at least. :)
these "officials" are killin' the vehicle. They need to get out of the way and let the reviewers take over.
Great, the Fiat 500L Jeep Edition...
Renegade of Funk?
I don't really understand... I mean I know a Land Rover is like 5x more expensive than this, but all Land Rovers work off road... when I think of Jeep I think off road vehicle... front wheel drive and low ground clearance doesn't seem like it'd be especially good off road? Like the compass and jeeps like that.
Can you install a lift kit? If not then it isn't a Jeep.
Jay H yes
I leased my renegade trail hawk. I absolutely love it but id never buy. I just dont see it holding up in the long run in terms of reliability or resale value. 3 years and done ill get somethign else. Awesome

yeah what about the O|||||||O in the front?
lol, you're right
I want to get a rav4 for my wide because of its dependability, but this one looks good and the price might be under 20k. Is Dodge dependable?
Chrysler is dependable now, though if you had asked that a few years ago it'd be a big NO. Chrysler has made HUGE improvements in the past year or so and the Renegade will be better than the Rav4 in a few ways for sure. ie offroad ability, luxury, aftermarket parts, gas mileage etc. the main major difference will be presence. they Renegade will turn heads because they're kind of odd looking and some people may not know of them yet and it will be cheaper than a Rav.
roxas the rogue the rav would be a trade off in 4x4 capability but would definitely be more reliable. fuel economy will be much lower in the rav though.
roxas the rogue oh yeah. for his wife it would be better
i'm not against either of them. they're both great in their own way
Clay Martin What do you consider the cut off point for Chrysler reliability? 2011? If I wanted to buy a used LX car or Ram?
Erm, they've been steadily improving since about 2009. I would probably call 2010 the cut off. But the newer the better, in the past 2yrs (2013-2014) they've made significant improvements. I hope that helps:)
Looks like a Kia Soul but better.

30 mpg highway with a 1.6l manual and $19,999.99 MSRP without the $900 destination charge, right?
radby just under $18,000 usd with the 1.4l with a manual
Suzuki Samurai
Is there gonna be a manual transmission available, because the Europeans can get it with one
So the Subaru XV Crosstrek is *not* competition ? Hmmm
Cheeky looks and 500L underneath. Hope the stick + 4x4 will be something to write about.
stephane matis 500x
Isaac Brinson en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_500X
GM FIAT Small platform, which first begat the Fiat Grande Punto and 500 L

I fucking love it!!!
Just an update of a 96 Suzuki Sidekick four door, without a frame and japanese reliability
the back looks just like a fiat 500L
from the side i'm seeing a kia soul or cube. not sure if i like it.
Fiat Panda anyone?
***** its based of the 500x
A bit strange looking imo, but an interesting idea none-the-less.
I personally like it, but it seams like more of a Nissan then a jeep. Oh well, it's there company. That do what they want.
Well its certainly better looking than the Cherokee
Kevin K H Chan if you mean the new one, I agree, but nothing beats the cherokee xj
i like it
Price starts with a 1? So $19,999. MPG starts with a 3? So 30 MPG exactly.
chief designer of jeep hmmmm. why gods name did he ever approve of the jeep Cherokees design. that thing is just flat out ugly looking. it reminds me of a love child that was spawned between an Aztec and a juke.
He got all awkward when you brought up Fiat
This is a Feep or a Jiat ???
I like it Chrysler skewed Jeep reliability and design, but Fiat is tidying everything back.

it looks like a cube and a fiat mix together and made this
woow :) thats make a hellcat so special
Mom is clueless about the truck
What's with all of the super shiny hard plastics everywhere? Just about everything but the dash top is shiny and cheap looking. It's an interesting looking vehicle though. Looks way too much like the 500 L though. You can tell it's the L with different fenders. Ugh...
I just dont get why people say this looks like a 500L? It LOOKS NOTHING LIKE IT
Tomaz Hilton uhhhh, well it's built on the exact same platform in the exact same factory with the exact same engines.
The Renegade is Built on a Redesigned 500L platform. so Modified its Now a new Platform (Small US Wide "4x4")
Just like the Dodge Dart Platform is a Modified Giulietta Platform (C-EVO), that later became a totally new platform (CUSW) that the Cherokee, Chrysler 200 and Other future FWD based C-D Segment cars will ride on... Infact, This Renegade will share its underpinnings with the 500 "X" Crossover that has yet to be revealed.
This has grown on me, too bad its coming out at the beginning of the year.. I'm shopping now. :-/
Looks too much like a miniaturized SUV mated with a cross over. It's become very hard to tell vehicles apart anymore.
$15,000 and 30 mpg combined
Looks a bit Japanese Cartoon Character of a JEEP, like a pimped Nissan Cube AWD mated with a Honda Element ?? !!
Should be popular with Urbanites in Europe if it gets a diesel and parking sensors etc for the school run mums !!!
Go Italy :)
If only there was a diesel !
Why the HELL did they name it Renegade, when that was a trim level from previous Wranglers??? Now it just causes confusion. They should have named it Nevada or Utah or some other U.S. location.....
Needs a lift kit and real tyres
fuck. fiat makes the panda and it would eat this offroad. idc if its made in the states. BUT jeep is simple 2 high 4 high and 4 low.. thats all you need. no mud snow rock setting, opening diffs and a decent driver will work great. and please please make to torque low in the rpm.
It's just an Americanized Fiat 500L.
Looks like a Kia.
The frontside looks good, but the backside is really ugly
Its a FIAT...
i am chinese ,china will be listed 2016!i want buy 。。。why you say this car is shit ,give me some suggestions~please
You can say the word wrangler all you want....this is no where near a wrangler...more like a fiat.
It's a Fiat 500L, literally
