We know there's going to be some weird arse stuff when it comes to the committee and how they slot teams but to be honest with you on paper, the 12 team playoff is going to make for exciting football as a ton of teams that normally didn't have a prayer at the CFP will now have a legit shot. I know we're going to see 4 SEC teams in the playoffs, but I'm not looking forward to it. NIL and other factors (like transfer portal opening before bowl season) already killed everything but lower tier bowls and the 3 playoff games. There is more depth in the B1G and the SEC, but it's still not actually that great. Both conferences last year had the most teams under 500 to end the regular season. That's as much to do with how good their top teams are as it does with how bad their bottom teams are. The thing I'm most dreading, though, are repeat games. Alabama-Georgia was bad enough, but the thought of having multiple SEC and B1G rematches for the second or third time each year is just exhausting to think about. I'm sure it'll still be popular television, SEC and B1G fans do show out (I mean there's a reason they got the big television deals), but for fans of college football, this is gonna be pretty miserable. Maybe 2 big conferences will make it better, but I feel like it's just going to encourage less courage in scheduling during the regular season to guarantee more wins and keep people fresh, more heavy reliance on "i'm in this conference, ignore my win-loss record", and a hell of a lot less parity in the sport. I know we were warned this was coming, but seeing the reality of it is no less depressing as a fan of college football (we're talking had Fubo last year and watched enough games at once to stress my partner out and I don't even gamble level of college football fan).

This playoff system alone makes the entire season one to look forward to! Excited for the 14 team playoff format as well.
