Don't be so hard on the property owner. Demo contractors can do this in a different manner to control the debris flying out. Destroying the concrete base wasn't necessary. The tower could have been removed with a crane, much like when it was constructed.

Where I live, a solar panel manufacturing business bilked the local development agencies by taking money, and not building anything with it. They “expanded” their business model into recycling old wind turbine blades, for which they received more “free” money. Those blades now sit in the empty lot where the solar plant was to be built. The grifters left with hundreds of thousands in taxpayers money, and the taxpayers are left with hundreds of turbine blades to get rid of.
Future homeowners will alter contracts to include cleanup in case of failure... damage to the property should be recompensed at full rental value until such time that the fields are put back to pre demolition status. Send them a bill... a big bill.
This should have been done by the municipality before the project was planned. They have to have an ordinance. concerning this issue. The municipality should hold some of this responsibility . Sue them. And NEVER trust a wind company. Complete slimeballs.

As a new implementation of a new technology, in light of past history, some clear funding and planning should be made now, for wind turbine landowners. History will repeat itself. It’s always the rural “little guy” surface landowner that suffers after companies and investors reap the profits, and often disappear.
About 18 months ago controlled the demolition dropped over 100 of these windmills in the western part of the United States because they were outdated and not producing enough electricity compared to the newer ones. There is no plan to recycle this material beyond the metal that’s in them. So much for no emissions from a smoke stack but crap they can’t be recycled laying everywhere.

At work we use painter's poles with fiberglass handles to clear elevated transport line jams... the fiberglass gets beat up & you end up with splinters if you forget gloves... if that was a fiberglass blade I can't imagine how many of those tiny fibers are all over the place... in the air... amazing what you can get a pass on with "eco" and/or "green".
Fibreglass is potentially as bad as asbestos. When it breaks down it leaves a putrid mess. I am like many, I drill a hole in fibreglass and itch badly. Most composite materials are the same. They have their uses and if sealed with a outer coating are ok. Those windmill blades start with that BUT the UV deteriates everything.
I don't want to be critical but they should have thought about problems like this & who was responsible for clean up before they signed a contract. Nothing lasts forever.
Well, you signed the contract/lease. If you don't like the results, either don't sign anything to let them use your land or make sure the removal and cleanup is specific in the contract/lease. I used to live near that site, and in my professional work, I've set these Turbine towers in place. There's an obvious lack of respect from the corporations owning the turbines to the landowners. To think they give a damn about them or the environment as a whole is laughable.

There's a lot of people that got debris from wind turbines this year during tornado season that didn't "ask for it". The tornados destroyed a bunch of turbines and threw debris for miles. This farm didn't "ask for it" as you put it, they wanted the turbine taken down carefully. They wanted the mess cleaned up quickly. When these companies come in to lease the land, they tell you that there won't be any issues, it's totally clean, and there are no dangers.

I looked at a farm, 74 acres. The access to the radio tower paid $11k/ year. They are getting paid well.
