Not that any of you strangers care, but my dad showed me this song when I was a spirling out of control drug addict. he sat me down n we listened to it n remembered tearing up over it. this song alwaya hits me in the feelings. Now he has 2 weeks till is major heart surgery n his no longer drug addict daughter will be there by his side every step of the way ♡ love you dad ❤

As a young kid I just heard this song and really liked it, I've loved George Straits music every since. As a grown woman, and a child of Christ, it means something entirely different to me today, if you just listen to the words deeply you can feel the holy Spirit move thru you. We need more of these songs! Makes you wonder why society has gone to crap! We've gotten away from family time and being held accountable for our actions! Knowing right from wrong and accepting failure is half the battle.

Go look up the lyrics if you can't hear them clearly...the song is about a boy coming home from school with a "shiner" because he got in a fight and when he tells his dad about it, expecting to get into trouble for fighting, his dad says, "let me tell you a secret", the "secret" being "dads do not love their children now and then", etc., etc., etc. Gosh I can't imagine you've gone through your life thinking this was about child sexual abuse !!!
