this song seriously saved my life, I was walking home depressed and so, so tired then I heard this and Guru's lyrics and immediately stopped in the street realising what I heard and I was going through the same thing, Ill never forget that.
I had everything I could ever want, money was never an issue and I always took care of my homeboys if I ate they was eating with me. I was having problems with my son's mom and didn't want my kids to see us arguing so I got a nice house for me and a few of my boy's. I put up all the down payment, security deposit and even paid their first months rent for them since they had to wait to get paid from work. Anyway long story short I made the mistake of never writing anything down on paper as far as an agreement on how much we're all paying monthly since one of my closest boy who was like a lil brother to me wanted to take the guest house while the rest of us stayed in the main house I took the master bedroom as I deserved the choice for paying for everything as I mentioned before. He told me he'd pay a certain amount for it so being who I am I never second guessed it. Then the first week of us moving in (which btw I've never had roommates before I've always had my own place since I was 19) he asked if I could pay more than agreed so his rent would be lower. From there I started seeing these so called friends true colors. We ended up fighting a couple times til I got tired of living with friends like these so I called the landlord we were renting the house from and to put the house under the homie who was chill, quiet and minded his own. He was cool enough to buy me out on the security deposit.bi a there for about 5-6 months and I still had my apartment I was paying for that I left for my baby momma. So I Told everyone I'd be moving back there on the 12th of October since it was the date I was paid up to live there and when all the money I prorated to make it easier for them since nobody had enough $ to pay me back. The day comes and I'm packing everything in my car to move out. Everyone's home just chilling watching TV but not one so called friend offered to help. Instead before I took the last of my stuff out one of them tries to ask for $ for the dwp bill. I dropped my shit in anger and was ready to lay him out. Told em after everything I've done for them none of them even offered to lift a damn finger. Then they offered as if they didn't see me do it all by myself already. Went back to my apartment and my son's mom had taken all of her's and my son's stuff and it's been years I haven't seen him. I felt like I lost everything which I eventually did, I had no money no car and no friends since I had nothing to offer anymore. Even those that I've let borrow $ and did favors for in the past I never asked for anything of them until I really needed them to return the favor. Which I would only ask if I could get a ride to the market or something along the lines of that. Nope not even that. So trust me when I say I feel your pain of going through what this song is about. It hurt at first but a lesson well learned. Only people that I have always is my mom's and family. Keep your head up and f#@k everyone else!
I heard it when I was 21 at varsity I was addicted to sex n drugs but this song made soo much sense I actually turned around and cleaned up passed that year. Rip guru and primier thanks for such a track God bless you
" Suicide? Nah, I'm not a foolish guy Don't even feel like drinking, or even gettin high Cause all that's gonna do really, is accelerate the anxieties that I wish I could alleviate " R.I.P Guru
Definitely I like this too My only crime was that I'm too damn kind, Now some scandalous mother fuckers wanna take what's mine, but they can't take the respect that I've earned in my life time. Before my dad died he always taught me that all you really have in this world is your words. And if people can't trust your words then you don't really have anything.
