Lay a sheet of aluminum foil on the headers right below the filter. It keeps oil off the pipes.
Smart 👊
Awesome. Good advice.
I can’t get over how clean yo bike is.
😃👊
Very helpful and easy to follow. Thanks!
👍
I've got a 99 Nighthawk 750, this video was very helpful! Thanks for the info 😉 I am confident this will be very easy!
glad to help. have fun
I’ve got a red and black 2003 last year model. Love it. It was museum quality before I dropped it. And got rear ended.
That is one, smooth sounding engine.
Love it
This is amazing!!!
Hehe 👊
Love my 92 Nighthawk
👊👍
Got the red version of the same year. Your's looks brand new.
It’s in decent shape. Thanks
Thanks man.
Yeah 👍👊
Buen video. Saludos
👊👍
The torque specs are in the Clymer manual.
👍
I live in NJ and have a 93 NH750
👊
These nighthawks 83' on are getting very expensive because they are so reliable. People are collecting them. in Utah they are getting $3-4k now.
Nice 👍
We never got that version of the Nighthawk in the UK. Not fair!
😉
It helps to warm the engine for a minute or so before you start too. But not too much to where the pipes (or oil) are hot while you're changing the filter.
Yes 100%. Forgot to mention that probably. Same with car oil changes.
He said that…
@@logangante9712totally missed that lol. Yes he did.
@@HowToWithLechactually it was me who missed that part. You DID mention that!
cool . dont even remember. thanks @@basementsinbangladesh1689
Cringed watching him tighten that drain bolt instead of loosening in the beginning. Learned that lesson the hard way.
👍
This is an Inadequate oil change method and procedure. The correct method is:
Bike should be level, non leaning to either side, not sitting on the kick stand when the plug is removed. Do not put the drain plug back in until ready to put new oil in. After removing the oil filter let the bike sit for at least 30 minutes, an hour or two is better. Do not install the oil filter until there is no dripping from drain plug and oil filter connection. Clean the oil filter seal area on the motor before installing the filter. Any seals that are loose, that came with the filter, should be lubricated with clean oil before installing. Remove the old seals that will be replaced with the new seals and clean those seal areas on the motor. Wipe clean oil on the filter seal and the motor seal area making sure there is no dirty oil still coming out of the engine oil filter area. Now wipe the drain plug and drain plug area on the motor, making sure it's clean of dirty oil, and install the drain plug. Pour new oil into the filler area, into the motor, with the required quantity of oil. Start and run the motor for approximately 5 minutes then turn the engine off and let it set for 5 minutes then check the oil level again. More oil will need to be added to get the oil level correct again. When a new filter is installed, the motor needs to run a few minutes so oil can get into and flowing through the filter. Once the oil level is correct after this procedure, install the oil cap. You're done.
Thanks for sharing. Actually doing a clear follow up soon
What exhaust do you have? Looking to replace mine
Vance & Hines. 👊
I have a 1991. Are the 1990's Nighthawks basically the same in every way?
I would guess so. But not 100% sure .
Manuel includes that year.. I'd guess so.
why do we warm up the engine first? Don’t we want all the oil pooled at the bottom ?
Yes. That’s always good to do. Sorry if I forgot to mention 👍
Wanting to buy a 91 750cc night hawk from a used dealer with 30,000 miles for 2500$ what do you guys think?
If good shape decent price. They hold resale value. And these days everything is high
are you using Full Synthetic Oil?
Always best to. Yes. Or whatever is recommended. Or what the auto shop has in stock lol
where did you get your exhaust from ?
came with the bike when I got it.
I would have created an oil runoff out of aluminum foil to cover and protect the exhaust from oil splash.
Yeah. Will be doing that next time
Good Video.. one discrepancy.. 1991- 2003 Honda Nighthawk CB 750 Oil Change with filter shows 3.1 Qts (2.8 qts for Oil only)
Thanks for sharing. 👊
You're overtightening the filter. No reason to make it so tight.
Wrench slipping. But agree no need 👍
@@HowToWithLech I do mine hand tight. Never leaked yet.
👊
How do I check if I put too much oil in??
Just with the dip stick. If worries I guess just have to drain it and refill
@@HowToWithLech how do i determine that with the dip stick? thank you
@@masonmartin1464 it should have a indicator line on it. I’ll have to check later as can’t remember from top of my head.
@@HowToWithLech ty!
what is the engine oil capacity?
2.8q
@@HowToWithLech how about cbx750 horizon?
I’m guessing same or similar. But not sure. I checked the manual for this bike
3.1 quarts with filter change www.nighthawk750.com/specs/specs1.html
Engine, clutch and transmission all run in the same oil, that's why you need to run a motorcycle-specific oil. Car oil will ruin you clutch!
