Not to mention if you aren’t creating anything and commenting you’re pretty anonymous. Definitely doesn’t have the same invasion of privacy, but the dopamine fix is still similar. I just enjoy not knowing what people are doing and don’t feel a need to share anything personal.
Rileys on a good track, i did the same 2 years back when i had a rough patch after my dad passed and I was drinking too much etc. Now years later people are asking me for tips on how to delete and live off social media and they say they look up to me for it lol. Of ALL the small but good things we can do for our health, quitting social media is one of the easiest and most beneficial.
Great podcast, love Riley! I’ve been off social media over 6months now it’s the best thing I have ever done for my mental health. There is so much temptation and makes you compare yourself to other people and that’s not what life is about, Life is about being happy with what you got and being grateful.
lol i just had a flashback from the old YT days. I remember stumbling upon some younger Riley Hawk park footy and i started shitting on the channel for clickbaiting people despite the good skating and i got into this shit flinging argument with the owner of the channel and turns out it was really Riley Hawk. Good times man, he probably wouldn't remember it anyways but damn looking back on it, it was some really silly social media interactions.

Ive only ever used fb. I started my page in 2011 then deleted it in 2019 because i got real tierd of seeing peoples live being constantly updated every hour. So lame.
I’m not sure if UA-cam qualifies as social media tho. Podcasts and Blogs might fall under the same umbrella but I’d hardly call skate videos, how-to(‘s), or documentaries or 1000’s of other videos you can find on here self promotional.
Social media breeds narcissism. Getting off it was one of the best things I've ever done for my mental health.

My feeds are all cars and skate footage, it’s all how you use it.

I've been off socials for about 10 years. It's done wonders for my mental health and gave me back my confidence and free time.

i hate social media but its nice to stay connected to some of my friends who live in other areas
I like how Snapchat is crossed out like Somebody gave a shit anyway. I Don't know a single person who uses it.
lots of people use it for dms, the map features, and android-to-iphone facetime. it's just not a "platform" like ig etc
