Without Pat mills most of the comic creators around now wouldn't have got the same kind of exposure. No one would have known about artists like Simon Bisley, and writers like Alan Moore may not have been discovered. Its a pity relatively speaking hardly anyone knows about his work because he is so influential. 2000ad through the years has influenced a lot of what we see in popular culture.
Pat Mills rocks he was always my favourite star in the 2000AD firmament. His stories were always more intelligent, articulate, humorous and entertaining than the competition. Thomas De Torquemada grand bigot, hiding in Thatchers Britain as a private landlord, Slaine’s tribe taxed to starvation by the Fomorions from Tory Island. HIs writing reflected a wider truth that other writers obsessed with guys in unitards didn’t.
