New World is a great example of why your testers can't be your superfans, because your superfans will be 'on their best behavior' during any testing. You need at least 5% of your testers to be "intentionally disruptive wankers"
Don't get companies going the Activision route.
That's why the goal of any good beta tester is breaking the game as much as possible and as often as possible. :D
You don't need a tester to find a glaring hole in transaction system, for example.
there is a reason why pentesting is a thing.

The two major issues from its core are the following: they were originally planning on a full loot PvP game (i.e. when you kill a player, you can loot everything on them) but backtracked when they realized too late that such a concept doesn’t make a lot of money (because you’ll just be left with a few dedicated whales and no new players will stay after they get inevitably looted for the fifth time in their first hour) and well, nobody on the team even had experience with MMOs. The genre is over 20 years old and they got no one that knew how MMOs work from a developer perspective and just hired whoever was willing to do it for cheap. Le sigh.
They bought this game after another studio had already put a years worth of work into it, thats why it made a drastic shift from full pvp tp pvlagg. most of the work AG put into the game was the professions and just Unicron'd the rest into the base game.

With the shitshow of the current situation, no matter what "concept" was in the end game there is not a single chance it would have somehow worked better.
They just are incompetent.
I mean - they didn't even look up any of the MMO failures on UA-cam - it's just depressing how LITTLE research they did for this

It's kind of genius that Amazon would make a game that fries your expensive Graphix Card, so that you can spend even more money either on Amazon or Ebay for another one.

So far Amazon's games can be summed up as "soulless".
I mean, their game doc basically says "make it a big IP". They have no idea of how to make games, they just wanna it to make lots of money without a clear hook.

what's crazy is that who ever wrote the script for this has actually played the game. this is something New World devs cannot claim. and if they can, they should be ashamed
It's crazy how many people thought Amazon, a company known to underpay and treat employees like crap, would create a game from a genre that requires so much love and passion to be put into the game in order for it to be successful and then defending the game when it's released in such a horrible state.
the hardcore amazon simps came out in droves for this game, they completely ignore the issues and get so pissed when you point them out
Sorry but no. Plenty of video game companies overwork their employees too and get decent games out. Amazon just has no idea what they’re doing.

I related heavily with the "typical MMO weirdos" as someone who likes to crawl between peoples legs whenever I'm in town.
2:45 "combat like dark souls but for toddlers" why do you have to personally attack me like that.
If I learned anything after playing WoW, LoL or Dark Souls, is that whenever there is a competitive system and PVP its going to draw a lot of toxic players
I mean just look at most football and soccer world championships by the end of the day one of the cheering teams is going to start a riot or a bar fight or two because their team lost
And the amount of toxicity is constantly on a rise because of positive reinforcement towards such attitude (Tyler1 being the easily most relevant example)

Which means there are a lot of so called "Gamers" who hate loosing or don't know how to deal with it
You can't blame the holes in the game on toxic players, people will find and exploit them anyway. Even the biggest PvE carebears will exploit games until they are broken and not worth playing.

One is being a hostile and disrespectful towards other people and other is finding how to glitch trough a wall to get a treasure chest because puzzles were too hard

As a player that watched their server self destruct: it wasn't politics or dbags or lazer zombies. it was TAXES! one city was put higher than the others, and this caused that faction to eat itself. some of us faction hopped, but the damage was done and the active pvpers from that faction left. then the remaining other faction pvpers left the server, so the only people left are the grinders. IN GAME TAXES killed the server. cause taxes are scary you see.

The amount of detail put into describing the game systems did not feel like a trailer. It felt like an ad.

It's my favourite thing. I loath it to Its core but I can't stop it 😅
The bugs were a bit overexaggerated but the rest was not. Managed 100 hours of play, which makes top 5 for me in any one game in 30 years of play. Only got stuck once. Did have a complaint that dungeons were way to long and difficult without people to carry you through. Did have a problem with running and running and running. Did have a problem with mobs spawning right behind me seconds after I killed them while fighting other mobs. Did have a problem with players saying "game is fine as is" while the online population dropped from 900k to 100k in 3 months. I got my money's worth of actual fun but running required in this game was ridiculous.

You missed the part about faction regions where people got together on Discord a year in Advance and took every region in 6 hours. Making it pointless to be in either of the other factions
