My .270 is the reason I still haven’t purchased a 6.5 Creedmoor, the .270 will handle any deer-sized game in North America. But I also have a wide variety of old-man cartridges such as .243, .25-06, .308 and .30-06. A wide variety is a great way to beat ammo shortages.
Agree 100 percent. I own a Creedmoor And it’s a great round but it’s been blown way out of proportion. I shoot it out to 1000 and it’s fantastic but there’s a lot of great calibers that have been out for many years that will do as well if not better on deer size game.
New rounds are interesting. But those old man cartridges aren’t going anywhere. They are easy to find, and will drop whatever you shoot with them. And they are still very capable out to quite a distance

You can believe it or not but my Bergara 6.5 prc firing factory 130 terminal ascent at 3150 is zeroed at 200 and I have verified on paper at 425 yards the drop is 9 inches. You 270 guys...well maybe one day you will come around.
Thanks for another great video. My grandfather once shot a duck out of the air with a model 70 in .270, equiped with peep sights. This was back in the 60's He commented to my dad that he wasn't sure that the rifle was sighted. The old man had a dry sense of humor. The .270 is quite capable, even on ducks.🦆
A 2" high "Zero" at 100 yards will give you a Point Blank Range of much greater distance. One could easily hold center of chest on a deer and make a 300 yard shot without having to adjust elevation turret. Nice rifle WTW!! Thanks for sharing. God Bless.
@@someguy5543 ,that is the exact principle behind the 26 yard zero. I also shoot 165 grain .30-06 and 100 gr .243. Consecutively it puts the 06 six inches low at 310,and the .243 2.65" low at 310 yards. Much simpler to sight in,without a shooting table, and having a flat 100 yard range to shoot.

Great round have hunted with one years ago longest shot i ever maded was with a 270 was a spike at 450 yards back in the eighties. Back when I was a young man
Awesome video. The .270 Winchester is probably my all time favorite deer hunting rounds and I have put a lot of venison in the freezer with it. I’m shooting a 1980s Remington Model Six and it is a sweet rifle/cartridge combo. I was skeptical about a pump action rifle when I first bought it, but it is accurate and fast shooting. I’m hunting thick woods and an occasional field or clearing. So most of my shots are under 100 yards, but you might get 150 or 200. That.270 has always performed well for me.
I am 67 and have had my .270 ruger m77 since I was 18. Have never lost a deer with it. I shoot 130 gr. hornady white tail. I feel confident out to 250 yrds. Last kill was 125 yrds on an 8 point. Fell where he was hit. It weighted 178 lbs. I put a barrel dampener on my sporter barrel and it shoots clover leafs at 100 yrds. I've shot every make of ammo and hornady is the most consistent. The soft tip, ballistic tips were all over the place.

Traded a 6.5 Creedmore for a 270 recently. Too many 6.5 Creeds have been sold in later years and I couldn’t find 6.5 bullets and plenty of 270s so that made my change easy!

I'll agree that 270 is an amazing deer cartridge. One of my favorite rounds for accuracy and overall round performance. Truly love the 6.8x63. The .270 performance and your review on the 6.8 Western is why I ordered one. Now I have a versatile round for medium and large North America game with great accuracy and knock down. I now have 2 guns that have 1/2 MOA @ 150 yards each(Factory 130g Hornandy Superformance SST for the .270 and 185G custom load with Harnandy SST). Gonna be doing some testing on Sierra Green Tips and Remington Core-lokt Green tips(when they come in). I'll keep ya posted Who-Tee.
The Norma Whitetail is one of the few things we’ve found that shoot really good out of my Savage 111 270. The other was the Winchester Deer Season XP, both 130 grain of course. I assume the ballistics chart was for a 24” barrel, but how long is the barrel on that beautiful Weatherby? Man I would’ve jumped on that deal as well!
I always sight my Savage 270 in at 1.5inches high @100yds that way I’m back on zero around 200yds. And out to 300 you can just aim a lil high and drop it in there!! Awesome round
Well now that was a interesting video and I have always liked the 270 caliber. I have hunted with guys that use the 270 and they have always sworn by them. I do not own a 270, but I think I should buy one. I have always hunter with either a thirty-ought-six or the 308.
If you reload your .270 or find a 130gr factory round traveling 3080 at the muzzle you will be 3 inches high at 150 yards and 3 inches low at 300 yards if you zero at 27 yards. A perfect 300 yard rifle setup. You will always be within 3 inches of your point of aim. 25yds = 0.11 inch high, 50yds = 1 inch high, 100yds = 2.5 inch high, 150yds = 3 inch high, 200yds = 2.3 inch high, 250yds = 0.3 inch high, 300yds = 3 inch low. Just hold point of aim and squeeze. No clicks necessary inside of 300 yards. Your windage will vary.
I sold a guy a ranging scope , he was ready to walk when I told him it was a 308 . I told him if he used light bullets his 270 would be close he bought the scope. I like 140 gr on 270 . In AK I always liked to zero at 200 yd.
The only family member who has ever left me anything is my stepfather he hasn't died but he said with al his ❤️ trouble he can't shoot n e thing bigger than 22-250. So he gave it to me as my inheritance. It means the world to me . Mom divorced him 20 yrs ago but he raised me since I was four. So he's the only dad I have. And I call him dad he calls me son. But the land that was my part. I don't get a piece anymore cuz my mom took my inheritance of money and land so I got my rifle. The land goes to his new wife and family.🙂. Just remember who tee ur my hero I love your work and I have a small channel nothing as good as what urs is . Ur my hero man.
Good job. Nice rifle. Just hunt within 200 and shoot straight on. All the bear and deer that I have shot in BC, Canada have been within 100 yards. Some I shot with the 303, 3030 and 270.
Cool vid and I always love range time. I have sometimes thought of getting a .270. My handful of .308s have served me well and a few of them I have taken hunting. And my new favorite is the 7 PRC. I know you have had recent good experience. Recently at the Rock Chuck event, you and others discussed best hunting round and you brought up the 7 mm Rem Mag. Maybe I have missed it but do you have a drop video on 7 RM? And will you do one on the 7 PRC? Edited to add, found the drop vid for 7 Mag and 7 PRC. Never mind me being redundant.
I had a Brownig A Bolt11 Gold Medallion in 270 Win with a 26 inch barrel on it. I dropped a 4 point Muley at 510 yards with a 130 grn NoslerBT. The Velocity was 3150 FPS. I had a Nikon Buckmaster 2 scope on it and held it on the first BDC mark on the scope. Normally I don't shoot anything past 300 yrds. But with the velocity it was doing I knew I could drop it at 500+ yards. Yes I'm kicking myself for selling that rifle. I'm in the process of building another 270 with the longer Barrel with a Remington 700 Action and a really good Barrel.
I believe that is the flattest shooting caliber you have done yet in this series. Didn't realize 270 was so fast and flat. Never shot one before. Gotta go back and review 30-06 and 243 videos to compare.

No one ever heard of the 26 yard zero, for most high powered rifles? Sighted in from 1/2" to 1 1/2" low at 25-28 yards puts you in the kill zone from a .243 to a .300 mag from 0-310 yards. Which puts you closer at the extended yardages too. It puts you almost 3" high at 100 and 150,1.5" at 200 and 6-8" low at 300. Easier for me to aim a couple of inches lower, than calculate holding high at different 50 yard increments. If you forget, your still is the kill zone either way. I've been doing this for years!
The 280 Remington is better. Much better. Just kidding! The 270 and 280 are certainly among the best cartridges for mulies and speed goats. It does well on wapiti as well. Beautiful rifle!
270 are great caliber. I was going to get one and one of my buddies talked me into a 6.5 Creedmoor so I bought a Ruger American Predator 6.5 Creedmoor instead. Maybe next time I will get a 270.
My present go-to rifle is a .270 but own several old man caliber rifles too. I know many guys would be interested in a review/test of 6.5 Creedmoor. I am using a 260 rem and have no intention of buying another 6.5 mm round but many people are into the Creedmoor.
The maximum range is always an interesting factoid. 22 lr has warnings on box about 1.5 mile max., that round has a 2.8 mile range👀. A very good reason to NOT take horizon shots.

Traded a 6.5 Creedmore for a 270 recently. Too many 6.5 Creeds have been sold in later years and I couldn’t find 6.5 bullets and plenty of 270s so that made my change easy!
Well if your experience is like mine, you will be very happy with your upgrade.
Hi WTW and friends from Seattle. love 270. one of the best hunting caliber's. great video's. love to see you hunting coyote's
I have had my ruger m77 for 40 years it will go in my will
I'd like to see a good practical video on .270 vs 6.5cm in particular.
👍👍
No contest. A 6.5 centimeter bullet would beat a .270 every time.
@@ClericalConsequences hahaha you know Im talking about Creedmoor. 6.5cm sounds like artillery!
@@jjgriffin3275 thanks I'm gonna give it a watch
@@col.cottonhill6655 hahaha… we can be friends
270 great caliber I once vaporised a fox at 200m with one TNT wouldn’t have had the same results, when are you doing the .308w I can’t wait for it 👍🏻all the best from Ireland 🇮🇪
Now your in my neck of the woods. I hunt with a 270 an use 150 grr Winchester Great rifle for deer hunting. Great video. I’ll be watching for the long range video.
That one shoots flat. I’ve always heard it was a flat shooter, just never owned or shot one personally.
Amazing Video with alot of info within it , I thank you so much and I wish you and everyone a safe Hunting Season this year.
Thanks for watching
The Norma Whitetail is one of the few things we’ve found that shoot really good out of my Savage 111 270. The other was the Winchester Deer Season XP, both 130 grain of course. I assume the ballistics chart was for a 24” barrel, but how long is the barrel on that beautiful Weatherby? Man I would’ve jumped on that deal as well!
.270 shooting 130gr Core-Lokt is all I shoot for whitetails. Never failed me.
I've taken 13 deer with my .270 using 13 130 gr nosler partitions, the very best cartridge for deer.
If the glass in that scope is as clear as the lacquer on that vanguard it’s a good scope ! Another gooood video on boolat drap lol ( :
Excellent video ... Be interesting to see what a 12 gauge does shooting solids
I always sight my Savage 270 in at 1.5inches high @100yds that way I’m back on zero around 200yds. And out to 300 you can just aim a lil high and drop it in there!! Awesome round
270 is probably one of the best cartridges for the average hunter . My favorite
you are a really funny man...and you do interesting videos! YEAAAHH
Thanks for watching!
Hello from Canada ..watching From Brampton, ontario
Stinks about the land but great you got the 22-250
Good job.
I took ten deer last season with a Winchester 270 24 in barrel 130 Winchester ammo.
Let the barrel cool after first shot. And always use the same ammo on zeroing. Pick one type and always use it
Lots of every animal in North America has fallen to the 270 winchester
It's a good shooter!! I watched the whole video thanks again big guy.
Thanks for watching
i did today 6.8 western new browning 175 was 2790 at like 15 foot the 6mm creedmore 100 grain reloads 2810 & 6.8 or 270 130 reloads were 2820 150 bt were 2695 & 120 -2850 my cross bow gave me a fit it hurt the cocking crank thing released & it did not set! a part hit me in the face! i am not happy! temp was around 65 & cloudy about 1800 feet from sea level troy ps range
Another cracking video, how about doing one on the 204 ruger 😎
Soon
As always another awesome video bro.
Pros and cons to both, with both being great rounds for hunting!
@@phild9813 Well said.
I sight most of my guns in at 200 yds because on most cartridges on shoot1.5 inch high at 100 yds
Here there who tee who I really like to have a 270 it is a good gun for deer
335k subs!!! Someone must be doing something right😃😃👍👍
400K is getting really close! 😎😎😎
🙏🙏🙏
Great video who tee who
🙏🙏🙏
I love every gun equally. Yes I have my favorites . 270 win is my favorite deer rifle.
Another great vid buddy
Really appreciate the breakdown on rifle rounds. In Ohio we use shotgun for deer and they really start dropping off at 100 yards.
I got a weatherby vanguard sub moa in 270 and love the bullet and gun, very accurate
Thanks Who Tee
That’s it a sexy looking riffle I must say
Do you like extra extra high rings? Great vids!
Use what I have
@@WHOTEEWHO me too great vids
270 are great caliber. I was going to get one and one of my buddies talked me into a 6.5 Creedmoor so I bought a Ruger American Predator 6.5 Creedmoor instead. Maybe next time I will get a 270.
Both good
My present go-to rifle is a .270 but own several old man caliber rifles too. I know many guys would be interested in a review/test of 6.5 Creedmoor. I am using a 260 rem and have no intention of buying another 6.5 mm round but many people are into the Creedmoor.
Great video, as usual. Now, if we can get our hands on some hunting ammo...
Love this video since I hunt with 270 win.
Thanks for watching John!
Thanks for the video. And for the good info.
great video, very practical
270 should be zeroed in at about 25 yards. Barrel length and height over bore may change it a bit but on average optimal for both 130 and 150 gr.
The maximum range is always an interesting factoid. 22 lr has warnings on box about 1.5 mile max., that round has a 2.8 mile range👀. A very good reason to NOT take horizon shots.
I’d love to see some 5 shot groups at 500 & 1,000 yards with this and other calibers. 🙏
Cant wait till you get to 7mm rem mag
Be put soon. Already filmed it
