  • In this episode, we embrace the start of spring. The kale flowers are attracting bees, and our seedlings are bursting through the soil, ready to soak up the warm sun. Join us as we dive into permaculture lessons with Lana, learning about everything from preparing garden beds to building rocket stoves. We also share the joy of Eli’s friends camping on our property again-bringing with them much-needed rain after weeks of dry weather. The land responded beautifully, and we’ve been busy planting a variety of seeds, including cucumber, chillies, pumpkins, and melons.
We’ve added some pink and yellow kangaroo paw near our outhouse and planted comfrey around the fruit trees Lana gave us, enriching the soil for the growing season ahead. Life off-grid can be tough, especially with the cold winters here, but every challenge brings its own rewards. Watch as we explore simple, sustainable living, reconnect with nature, and find joy in the everyday rhythms of off-grid life.
Stay tuned for more updates on our off-grid journey, permaculture tips, and what it’s like living closer to the land!

Yes, it has been such a practical way to improve everything we have been working on, trying to grow a food forest here. People laughed and said good luck with that out here and now we have the perfect example of it working just 5 km from us. Maybe you could go to next years one. I’m planning on going again 😁
