    🔎🔎🔎 What is ADHD?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by inattention, bouts of excessive energy, hyper-fixation, and impulsivity, which are otherwise not appropriate for a person's age.
Some individuals with ADHD also display difficulty regulating emotions or problems with executive function. For a diagnosis, the symptoms have to be present for more than six months and cause problems in at least two settings (such as school, home, work, or recreational activities).
In children, problems paying attention may result in a decline in school performance. Additionally, it is associated with other mental disorders and substance use disorders.
Although it causes impairment, particularly in modern society, many people with ADHD can have sustained attention (hyperfocus) for tasks they find interesting or rewarding.
    🧠🧠 What is (Neurofeedback)?
Neurofeedback Therapy or Neurofeedback s intended to teach people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to control their own brain waves.

Thank you so much for your presentation, this is the information I need. Dr. Abbey Richard, Can you discuss further about how dyslexic learners process what they read, how information travels. I would also like to get it from on how to support them. Reading support strategies is my study.

By the way, I am a primary teacher and love assisting learners with learn difficulties, especially dyslexia, hence I am studying about it so that I can help them.

In my country Lesotho, I will be the first person to study dyslexia, if I complete my program, God will. I would like to inquire more about it, especially the reading processing part. There is a lot I can learn from you.

It seems like there is a dyslexic form of inattentive ADHD, and a non verbal learning disorder (NVLD) form of inattentive ADHD which is a type of autism without the rigid non-functional routines but with more sensory stimming and/or sensory avoidance and with many additional deficits. Finally there is the hyperactive ADHD which only co-occurs with LDs at the same rate as non-ADHDers, so the people who have both only have both by chance.

I think it's super interesting how dyslexics if they have adhd are more often the inattentive type. It makes sense with the decreased working menory.

Yeah I’m dyslexic with inattentive ADHD. And I feel like it’s some kind of brain structure thing.
I have dyslexia with all the DLC 😂 whole package of dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia. I have hearing related dyslexic symptoms (don’t hear words or sounds of words accurately partly due to lack of focus sometimes because I struggle to perceive word sounds. Or I even jumble up a spoken sentence in my head after the fact while trying to catch up with decoding what was said to me lol).
I don’t really think all the things I’m diagnosed with need to be separated I just call it my wholistic dyslexicness. Pretty much everything I do I has dyslexia@s fing prints all over it 😂
My IQ is pretty high so I think that’s the only reason I’m not homeless or in Jail tbh lol. But I’m exhausted ALL THE TIME and people without my monolithic dyslexia allocation don’t understand why I’m exhausted from “easy” things because “you’re an intelligent person though”. Idk, my brain makes no bloody sense, I’d love to have it scanned and studied to figure out what the gel is going on lol

My daughter has ADHD and Dyslexia. She struggles in academic reading but is just fine and enjoys reading for pleasure subjects she is interested in. She makes good grades and is in the gifted program at school but it comes at a high price. Her visual art ability is well beyond her years. Her ability to read people is uncanny. Her empathy for others is very high. And she has darn close to 130 IQ. My husband is shocked at her diagnosis due to grades and her other strengths despite her mom (me) having both and having many family members on both my parents side having one or both disorders. Actually he denied that I had both to avoid accepting our daughter had it for years. She is going into 6th grade. We have tutors and a behavioral cognitive therapist for her. But only now my husband is open to medication which the psychologist who tested her says she desperately needs. Is there a way to explain what is going on to my husband that is not insulting towards him? Both my child and I are hesitant talking about it in front of him. We are afraid of how he will react. Please advise.

Deciding on medication and non medication interventions is a family decision. I strongly suggest you research the medications you are considering for ALL possible side effects. Because we see a lot of children, we have seen some experience some of the “rare” side effects. Some parents whose children experience these side effects come to us pretty upset, and adults who have suffered side effects from long term use are as well. Having said that, your family has to decide if the benefits out weigh the risks.
Alternatively, there are several ways to help children overcome dyslexia and ADHD that do not involve medications. They are very powerful and many of our clients make significant improvements over and above what they would have on medication alone, and it lasts a lifetime. some of the problems with these methods is that they take a commitment for follow through and not everyone can do that. However, most children can complete the training if they do it before high school for various reasons. I also understand that it may seem expensive, but the transformation into a new future is actually an amazing investment and savings into your child’s future.
Having said all of this, it’s not an either or. You can try one method or both. Keep the one you like. If you try one and don’t like it, you have options.
I have made a series of videos discussing brain training and I am working on more videos to help people become more aware of their options.
I hope this is helpful and I applaud all your efforts to support your child!! Way to go!
