Breaking dharmic regulative principles is not a closure point. It is very sinful to do certain kind of activities but ultimately even the worst kind of sins are forgiven if one takes to spiritual life and chanting maha mantra in earnest. This is precisely WHY this method is recommended in Kali Yuga, as you mentioned in this age people are easily affected the mode of ignorance and darkness, the tamo guna and doing meditation for even 5 years continuously is near impossible for people easily affected by sense pleasures but it is very easy to chant the name of God even in the worst situation in any age.

I didnt found the verses because i didnt saw the entire video. I saw they was a reference to Krishna talking about austerity and self control. I feel bad because i dont intend to sound like i know better, just want to share, im only a devotee, I ve read the gita multiple times. The fact that Krishna talks about austerity and self control as a need, i think doesn't imply we should saw it as : we have to try to restrain all as much as possible. The work of dual world is to make us transcend, just escaping it should not solve the problem. Because just restrain it externally, as it also explains in the gita, external renouncing doesn't mean inner renouncing or evolving....or connecting with Krishna, connecting with God. I think people needs austerity and certain vows to learn about self control , character , go deeper inside....Just restraing because "is the holy and only right way" looks to me a big mistake what also catholicism did: because people are not connected with God, have not met Him, wich is the goal of the gita: all people deal with their miseries....but then instead of floating in them they have a big argument to judge others and feel superior upon others, based on their rejection of "sin" : Instead of an understanding of what is benefitial for one s spiritual advancement, throught spiritual elevation: they have a big scripture argument for bring others to condemnation . After I die in this incarnation, and after a while starts my next incarnation, I understand that my memory (or memory-chunk or sanchitha karma) continues the cycle of birth and death. But, just like how I don't remember my previous incarnation, I similarly wouldn't remember this incarnation from next incarnation. So, how does it matter whether re-birth happens or doesn't happen!? We must complete 5th class to go to 6th class. Likewise we must complete our sadana ,we get human life. If dont complete,we get body,based on our karma . Our memory doesn't remember even every single incident every second which happened from our birth.. Then how could we expect the memories from previous births? It might be billions of trillions of birth we have taken. Is it necessary for our progress? Already some needed intelligence, ego, karma is stored in our subtle body. Let me explain: I was on holiday to Mauritiusfor 2 months and I did not have need for sex or not even thinking about it because my day was so preoccupied and I was going to the temple every night vs being in Australia its is 100X harder to not think about sex or to live a life of celibacy because the environment is design in this way. 2) What is the point of getting married if you should only have sex with your wife for procreating, so many rules for what? You should just create a laboratory where they would produce your kids and don't even get married. Human have hormones and when male and female are close to each other its normal to want to mate. 3) Lust and love are two different thing. With all due respect to the Swami, many still believe that we are in Kaliyuga. We need to understand, Chaturmukha Brahma's kaliyuga is 4,32,000 years but Manushya Kaliyuga is over in 1974!! This is the truth. We are now in the Sandhikala between Kaliyuga and Kruthayuga. Lord Kalki's arrival is absolutely possible now! Any moment it may happen. Rishis know this, Lord Parashuram knows this, Ashwaththāma knows this, Markandeya maharshi knows this, many such yogis know this truth. This is the only thing I wanted to just add. Hare krishna. Meditation is not meant for this age of kali. Coz peoples duration of life, concentration etc are very very less. Meditation was recommended in satya yuga. Only chanting of the holy name is prescribed in this yuga.
Mantra meditation is one kind of meditation which works but there are technically 9 ways to God according to puranas and Upanishads. Sravan kirtana smarana are first three. Sravana means hearing. This is interesting as , forget meditating , just getting to know about and hearing about brahman will liberate jivatmas to perfect platform of purity

I asked once my Guru, "what is the difference between positive enthusiasm and passion born from desire": he refered this verse of Gita 6-18 saying Krishna answered that here: When the yogi, by practice of yoga, disciplines his mental activities and becomes situated in Transcendence/Self-free from all material desires-he is said to have attained yoga (union)" I resume what he said, he said one gets situated in the Self through prayer and meditation. We all have desires, we are humans, we have to work and live ...desire as the impulse is not something God would blame us for it as bad, what Krishna speaks about desire is the attachment, the mindset, how we engage into it and the importance we give to it, that creates unwanted desires and more attachment. I just love seeing Hare Krishna people doing kirtan in the streets and how people join them, and i know you are very knowledgeable people. This is the most repeated and illogical answer I've been hearing since decades!
After I die in this incarnation, and after a while starts my next incarnation, I understand that my memory (or memory-chunk or sanchitha karma) continues the cycle of birth and death. But, just like how I don't remember my previous incarnation, I similarly wouldn't remember this incarnation from next incarnation.
So, how does it matter whether re-birth happens or doesn't happen!? I won't remember anyway!
I think the purpose of life is to do all necessary practices (meditation, pranayama, etc) and make the mind sharp and silent, and thus make the mind available to the source of creation (atma) so to receive all benefits the source can offer (love, intuition, bliss, etc)

From God's perspective, breaking the cycle of birth and death has a meaning, as it indicates drastic reduction in the tendencies stored in memory (sanchitha). But from the individual's perspective it has no significance due to no remembrance of previous incarnation. So, if you do tremendous amount of spiritual practices in current life and die, the guy who gets the continuity of your memory in next life would enjoy the fruits (evolved mind, sharper intelligence, or even enlightenement), but that guy is different from you practically seeing due to lack of "past life recollection"

1) its easy to say to be celibate and live without sex when your environment is already helping you. so we much judge other people. Let me explain: I was on holiday to Mauritiusfor 2 months and I did not have need for sex or not even thinking about it because my day was so preoccupied and I was going to the temple every night vs being in Australia its is 100X harder to not think about sex or to live a life of celibacy because the environment is design in this way.
2) What is the point of getting married if you should only have sex with your wife for procreating, so many rules for what? You should just create a laboratory where they would produce your kids and don't even get married. Human have hormones and when male and female are close to each other its normal to want to mate.
3) Lust and love are two different thing. Being lust full mean your thought is all about doing dirty stuff to every women you see on the street( which is very wrong) vs Love is pureand there are different way to show love to your partner and sex is a form of love.

With all due respect to the Swami, many still believe that we are in Kaliyuga. We need to understand, Chaturmukha Brahma's kaliyuga is 4,32,000 years but Manushya Kaliyuga is over in 1974!! This is the truth. We are now in the Sandhikala between Kaliyuga and Kruthayuga. Lord Kalki's arrival is absolutely possible now! Any moment it may happen. Rishis know this, Lord Parashuram knows this, Ashwaththāma knows this, Markandeya maharshi knows this, many such yogis know this truth. This is the only thing I wanted to just add. Like Swami himself said, whether people want to accept it or not, truth is truth.

Hare krishna. Meditation is not meant for this age of kali. Coz peoples duration of life, concentration etc are very very less. Meditation was recommended in satya yuga. Only chanting of the holy name is prescribed in this yuga.
Mantra meditation is one kind of meditation which works but there are technically 9 ways to God according to puranas and Upanishads. Sravan kirtana smarana are first three. Sravana means hearing.
This is interesting as , forget meditating , just getting to know about and hearing about brahman will liberate jivatmas to perfect platform of purity

That is because god is inherently merciful and does not play the community card when liberating jivas who may be Christian in one life and Hindu in the next life. That is the greatness of God and the understanding of him untainted by worldly knowledge is necessary to actually perform yoga and read Veda.
Knowledge of brahman and sastras cannot be questioned but we need a guru to understand them whatever the protestants may say.
