Thanks Tony for the video on the Keithley 230. When I ordered mine I didn't know there were two models and I got the Keithley 230-1 which has the same front panel but has a gray color scheme instead of the brown one. The rear panel of the 230-1 has BNC output connections with the sense wires strapped internally. The 230-1 is a special version of the 230 with the necessary connectors for compatibility with the Model 82 Simultaneous C-V Systems from Keithley. I think the 230-1 may have been manufactured much later than the 230 because the integrate circuits in my unit are around 1997. I also found that the chassis is punched to replace the BNC connectors with the four binding post but it would require drilling four holes in the back panel fan plate. So you could convert it pretty easily to just the 230 if needed. The manual shows the schematic mods that are made between the two units. I have just made coaxial cables for the 230-1 and like you I have similar results in calibration since both units are really the same. My unit has been working very well and it is a nice device, especially with the higher calibration voltages as you mentioned. I was also lucky since these units are normally under computer control and probably in a rack. Therefore, front and back panels, display, and buttons look or feel new. The front panel on both units are label 230 so there might be some confusion on what you are getting when buying one. I thought it was a newer version with an updated color scheme when I bought it. Reason I am posting is just to let other viewers know that the 230-1 might also be a good choice and that there are two versions with the same model number on the front panel. Always looking forward to your next video!

Thank you John! , that is some good information about the 230-1 , also great to hear it works well!..

I too ended up with a 230-1 but I have now converted it to bind posts and added the switch back so I can do local vs. remote sensing.

Very good video, the test and measurement equipment 20 to 40 years ago are the best without obsolescence scheduled and functioning. I am in some Teltronix and HP chemical capacitors of better characteristics than those who are now manufactured. Greetings.

    That's a really neat device.
I wish I could find a reasonably priced, reasonably accurate AC voltage source, up to say 200V. That's practically all I am missing to be able to home-style-calibrate all functions on some of my multimters.

Do love your wall of vintage test equipment Tony. The HP34401a can sample at a faster rate by pressing Blue shit then down arrow. To recover the lost digit press the > button. This reduces the Power line cycles at the expense of more noise. I'm sure you know that already but it may be interesting to others.

It appears that you had the sense wires connected during your calibration. The manual I have says to do the calibration with sense set to "local". I would have liked it if you had done the calibration in real time instead of sped up. Thanks

    Hello 😃
thanks for your video and let us look inside, which is very interesting.
My question is, are you shure, the shown AD544kh is the precision vref? It seems, it is a precision opamp as a voltage divider, which regulates the vref from the precision diode or vref with the TO92 housing on the left.
