    I'm feeling some sympathy for Bo. I've realized that throughout these interviews he's kind of repeated the same things, while effectively playing off like everything is semi spontaneous. That's gotta be a byproduct of his daily struggles. Really not judging, I imagine I'd be the same way if something I made gained a lot of attention.

      I think if you look at a lot of interviews with directors and actors for a certain movie, they probably usually give similar answers over and over due to a lot of similar questions that are asked at them throughout different interviews.

    • @oodjee
      @oodjee 6 років тому +17

      Its all really simple. If the questions are similar from one interview to another, then the answers will be similar. That's it. I think you're reading too much into it.

    • @legitiotjake
      @legitiotjake 6 років тому +5

      That is a super fair point. I guess I'm being alert because in the past he's described having some problems that we happen to share, and I could be putting too much weight on our similarities with my concerns here. Bottom line though I hope he's ENJOYING the success of his movie rather than regretting it for making him say the same thing 40 times while having to say it like it's a fresh thought.
      There's like 0 chance he'll regret the movie in the long run, again I just hope he's doing okay now.

    I know this is years after this video was uploaded to UA-cam, but I just got done watching Bo's "Inside" a week ago and then I found out about this movie. It did well on RT so I decided to give it a shot going in pretty blind. It had me nervous and feeling very uncomfortable in an anxious way for Elsie's character and I am a 35 year old guy. So I think the movie 100% did it's job and was directed in a way that didn't feel fake. I felt uncomfortable because I was putting myself in her shoes throughout the whole movie and it brought me back to moments of my own time in 6th-8th grade or so.

      Vinchenzo Morales Not necessarily. Usually to get into an Academy Conversation a film has to be acclaimed by critics, or to be considered innovative, or simply because they’re by a famous filmmaker. However many of those that do get an Academy Conversation are considered for prestigious awards (being the Oscars one of them)

    • @mattfronduto600
      @mattfronduto600 6 років тому +11

      I don’t think A24 will waste their time pushing Hereditary. Even though it’s one of the best horror/dramas of the last few years, we all know the Academy looks down on all things horror (even though there is a lot more to Hereditary than the horror elements).

    • @jakobmathews1685
      @jakobmathews1685 6 років тому +10

      It’s because Eighth Grade is more marketable. I even heard it was called “the Lady Bird of this year,” which isn’t really fair for either film. I love all four of those films and A24 is killing it as usual. Toni Collette deserves the nom and should definitely win as of now. Out of all of those, I feel like Lean on Pete will have the least likely chance of getting nominated unfortunately.

      @artasinn 5 років тому +1

      It wasn't cringy, just a weird example... compared to the many examples she could have chosen.
      I don't think she means relate... i think she means, connect.
      Just because you're not a black man in the south, in the 20s, doesn't mean you can't connect to that character on a basic level. Ie, feeling their pains or triumphs. (When character building is done correctly)

    • @mayaenglish5424
      @mayaenglish5424 3 роки тому

      Nope, perfectly normal, she pulled a random list of characteristics out of thin air that were far away from who she is for illustrative purposes much like improv comics/ actors do. I don't see why there's anything wrong with that at all. She could have said literally anything far away from her madlibs style, Chinese doctor in the 80's, Mexican linebacker, Polynesian fisherman in the 40's etc. The whole point of movies, and good story telling in general, is to make you feel something, relate to the main characters, put yourself in their shoes and sympathize with their circumstances even if they're vastly different to your own.
