I was going to give this one a miss until I found out that Bo was excited about it.

Nice to see someone who is never excited finally be able to feel it.

I know. I can really relate to being jealous of Bo. What I would not do to be able to bring that type of positive energy to life… I never miss an episode 😊

Easy bake oven won me over. I really like sitting in the air conditioning and adjusting the temp of the smoker when it’s feels like 105 outside. Not sure I will ever go back to a traditional smoker.

The problem I have is that, inevitably, whenever I spend money selfishly, life turns on me and I have an unavoidable, unexpected expense. Vacation? Home AC fails. A new hobby toy? Car repair.

Why you have to budget for depreciation and save it up.

I completely understand where you're coming from. It’s frustrating when it feels like life throws unexpected expenses at you just when you're trying to enjoy yourself. It's almost like Murphy's Law in action-anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
Ayn Rand once said, "The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me." Sometimes, it feels like the universe itself is trying to stop us from enjoying our hard-earned money. But perhaps it's a reminder to plan for these contingencies, so we aren't caught off guard.
Budgeting for depreciation and having a safety net can help mitigate these surprises. Think of it like the Fraggles from Fraggle Rock: they always had to be prepared for the unpredictable elements of Fraggle Mountain. By staying ready and resourceful, they managed to thrive despite the challenges.
So, while it might feel like life is conspiring against our moments of joy, with a bit of preparation, we can face those unexpected hurdles and still find time to enjoy ourselves. Anyone else have strategies for dealing with this?

YNAB calls this budgeting for true expenses. If you sock away money a little every month for things bound to happen (car repair, house repair, etc.) then you don't get that gut punch

Ok I have a question that I’ve always wanted to ask. Why aren’t the mics muted during the “starting soon” screen at the beginning? It’s weird hearing them breathe and move glasses, and it feels like any second we might hear some comments that we’re not supposed to.

I'm glad I stayed till the end because the 457 Roth question was really interesting to me.
I totally love the show and kind of can't believe that I watch an hour or two every week.

  • @koopa6519

I think the guys are missing key information about a 457(b)'s for that last question. A big gotcha on Roth 457(b) plans is that distributions from a Roth 457(b) before age 59.5 are *not* qualified, and therefore gains are taxable. Traditional 457(b)'s do not have this issue. So you probably want to contribute to a Traditional 457(b) if you're planning on using it for early retirement not a Roth.

As my babies become toddlers and big kids, I will need more cash flow for activities. Should I reduce my investing from 25% so that I can pay off debt by the time I'll need the extra cash?

My husband didn’t particularly like his job mostly because of the staff he had to work with. So when it came to a head, I said no problem. Let’s find you a different job in the same field. Well, we did all the research and when it came down to it, he made the decision to be just fine with his job because it turned out he had the optimum pay for the optimum work life balance with the optimum benefits when all was taken into consideration so he just talked to HR and got moved to a different department😂

Honestly, only do paid for real estate. Don’t do real estate investing with a mortgage, real estate is hard enough because you don’t know what you don’t know until you get there, no matter how many videos you watched.

Sometimes, spending money for fun does feel like it backfires. But there are plenty of ways to enjoy yourself without spending a dime. For example, sitting on the porch and chatting with neighbors or shouting funny greetings to people passing by can be surprisingly entertaining. Taking a walk in the park is another great option-nature has a way of lifting spirits without costing a thing.
And if you’re looking for a good read, why not check out a book from the library? It’s free, and there’s something special about diving into a new story or learning something new. Anyone else have favorite free activities they enjoy?

Someday, when we are all grown up, “Millionaire vs Millionaire household” will be better defined in all these statistics. Example (the average millionaire crosses over into millionaire status at the age of 49”. Are all these people single?

There is a difference between genders. Women go through a lot and life is tougher for us (gender pay gap, etc) so women need to spend our money more readily for fun and entertainment. Men need to be frugal and save for the future because a woman and one or more children will one day depend on his income.

    • @arh1234
      @arh1234 5 місяців тому +1

Deeply disagree. Life is hard for everyone; both genders need fun; both genders need to be able to support themselves and any dependents.
