Yes. He is my favorite classical composer. He will never go out of. style. Similarly, I believe 500 years from now, music students will still be studying Edward van Halen
Bach was a sedentary man, who had never left Germany, a provincial for everyone. Yet his music has always been timeless. For all instruments, in all styles, Bach is Bach.
Even after 40 years of playing, you are light years ahead of me musically. If I were your teacher for ten minutes I would work you on tightening up your fingering and alternate picking. Pebber Brown taught me years ago how to get everything together. He too is a great treasure on line totally unappreciated except by those he has helped musically. You could do a two hour thing on Pebber, Rick.
Literally LOL! Rick, your ideas and suggestions have been some of the greatest things to help me expand my playing and bag of tricks. I honestly can't help but smile and/or laugh when something else you do enlightens and inspires me to continue playing and trying new and interesting ideas. I'm sure you get it all the time but I want to personally thank you so much for these videos you create. I have experienced so much depression and sadness over the last few years but you have personally been a huge well of inspiration+guidance that I simply can't ever thank you enough for gifting so freely.
Rick, I heard an interview with (The Byrds) Roger McGuinn and he said his 12 string.licks on "Mr. Tambourine Man" started as him copying Bach phrases!"😊
You can always tell the people that play to look cool, and those that play because the music has entered into their soul and eats at them. Waking up in the night with a riff in your head and can't sleep until you've played it.
Cheers Rick! It’s so important to connect the musical present with the past like this little short does. Every fragment of music we listen to today has ancestral origins, (including Bach) and the more we understand and relate to those origins on a deep level the more fluency we’ll have when making our own “new” music today.
Rick your videos are always so informative with legitimate musical techniques to teach a musician and I love it. Btw the shorts on neoclassical progressions/baroque music using patterns are my favorite, I usually repeatedly watch them because I love how musical they are
Sounds really good. It sounds like an original take on yngwie malmsteen inspired riffs. I hear a key change near the end arpeggio. I studied the double bass for a short time, and it’s not really based on how fast you sight read per se ie (naming the notes mentally) but on the various positions in which the music is played. Position shifting seems to be used in this riff shown in this video, it’s very similar to classical playing.
300 years and Bach is still great.
So is this video.

bach was a genius... Every bach pieces can be played on guitar, piano, cello, harp... like "wow this thing is made perfect for my instrument"
So would a "neo-classical" Bach arrangement be considered "Bach to the future"?
groan. Don't come Bach. :)
Made me smile but that's it😁😑
Don't look Bach.
Ah ah ah ah ahhhhhhhh!
Well played, sir. Well played.
Baroque and roll!

Sometimes as a guitar player, you just need someone to show you a different thing, and then the keys to the next door are yours 👍
That is Bach and it rocks
It's a rock block of Bach

What a way celebrate Bach's birthday!
These quick videos can't be rewinded on youtube app, so it would be awesome to have all chord graphics in one shot at the end, for pracrice.

So much metal in that Bach fella

the “like that” at the end is a boss mic drop, nicely done
