    Next time you’re trying to run wire thru the firewall. Tape the wire to a coat hanger. It’ll be stiff enough to push thru that rubber hole for the manual clutch pedal. And it’s easier to grab and pull from the other side as well. And it allows you to run wire fairly efficiently thru the dash to the switch mounting spots.

    The "Howling" fins are for cooling knucklehead, thats how heat dissipates from the heat source, i.e. The light, way to ruin it. Kinda like putting HUMMER on a jeep hood.

    • @FreedomCrawler
      @FreedomCrawler  5 років тому

      Yes we know they are. This didn’t effect the cooling at all. Works just fine and is quiet.

    Hey guys! Always love to see another Jeep couple getting involved together! My husband and I have been building Jeeps (XJ, JK now JKU) for a few years and it's amazing to have your best friend also interested in your favorite hobbies! If you guys plan on continuing to add lights (KC, more light bars) or other electrical components, I'd suggest investing in an S-Pod. We'll be doing a build-it-yourself video of one here soon, but it really cleans up the interior of that "3.6L V8 Diesel Supercharged" (LOL! too funny) area beneath the hood and waterproofs all of your circuits and connections if y'all do take that rig offroad. Keep On Jeepin' On, friends!

    Great install video! I wouldn't recommend putting anything in between the fins on the light. They are used to dissipate heat created by the light when turned on. Unless you are not planning to use it and just have it for looks. Again thanks for the video.

    those fins on the back of the light bar are heat sinks... basically to help dissipate heat when it gets hot. Isn't covering them with window seal or whatever a bad idea? Good informative video though. Thumbs up PS: and yes i also thought the hummer sticker was wack...before I read about the parody videos. Keep it up.

    • @garrisonaw
      @garrisonaw 7 років тому +7

      I was going to say the same thing about the fins. Packing insulation between them totally defeats their purpose. You say you're doing it because of the noise, but then you have big mudder tires on the Jeep that make more noise than the light bar would.

    • @suburbanhobbyist2752
      @suburbanhobbyist2752 7 років тому +7

      Agreed, the fins are there for a reason. Light bars with the massive amount of LEDS, especially cheap ones like this, create a lot of heat and need to dissipate that heat or from what I've read, it will severely shorten the lifespan of the LEDs.

    You can hide the wires with the existing plastic tube, the one you zip tied it to,that thing opens up, you will find more wires inside it. You could also but a smaller tube and put the wires in that and zip tie it like you have it, just to make it look better and cleaner, but you guys did great!

    When you are adding anything to a vehicles power supply always + positive first then negative. when taking something off always take the - negative off first then the positive. It's like adding + first and subtracting - first . Hope that helps so you don't get hurt or burn your system up or mess something up.

  • @jaysonm.3660
    @jaysonm.3660 7 років тому

    Not sure if you've found this out since this video, but you should move the wire connections to one of the other terminals on the battery. The one you hooked it to has a special nut on it that is rounded on the bottom and is used to tension the battery cable clamp. Becaues of this, I ran into an issue where my clamp wouldn't tighten fully and the cable worked its way off the terminal over the period of about 18 months. On the positive side, you have 3 terminals that you can use. On the negative side, you have a stud but no nut so you'll have to get a nut that works.

    That looks like the Yitomotor light bar I just received. I'm on here because there was NO INSTRUCTIONS! This video was real helpful. I would have liked to see more detail of the actual install and tightening of the light bar to the mount. On mine there is a gap between the mounts and the bar. I dont know if I've left something off the end of the bar or what? its a 52" bar but there is about 2" of gap. Also, I would really had liked to see where the switch wire was run through the firewall after you had it installed. I couldn't see where you were showing from inside the engine bay and I cant see where to run the wire on mine either.
    Overall, this is a helpful video! Jeep girl is very cute and seems very sweet. Treat her right !

      We ran it through a rubber grommet plug near the gas pedal. You have to punch a hole in it. If you pull the carpet back a bit from the gas/brake pedal area you should see a black rubber plug that can be used to drain water that I'm referring to.

      Drill the small module? You can mount that wherever you would like it to sit. We just used some of the plastic framing in the area

    i don't know much about light bars but i do know a little about installation mechanics. that wire harness that you were putting through the firewall but the brake booster should have been but UNDER the washer fluid hose and not OVER it. lol i bet you fixed that after you realized what would happen when you tighted down the wire harness.

    I'm from Austin as well and believe that I've seen that jeep around town. We just traded our 2011 in for a 2016. That light bar that y'all have says 2007-2014. Did they change something on the new jeeps as to make this light bar not fit or do you think it will be good to go on a 2016?

  • @jaysteinfort1
    @jaysteinfort1 7 років тому +1

    Interesting. I'm pretty sure that those terminals got hooked up on the clamping nut for the battery terminal clamp. I see electrical problems in thier future as the clamp is no longer tightening to the battery post.

    • @FreedomCrawler
      @FreedomCrawler  7 років тому

      +Jay Steinfort I tightened them all the way down. Been good to go ever since. There's other options and I've used them in a couple different locations. Whatever works best for you is the best route for sure

    Hey guy's. I got the same light bar and I would like to change the switch. Have you changed yours and how did you do it? I noticed the switch has electronics inside of it.

    • @FreedomCrawler
      @FreedomCrawler  6 років тому

      Yes, we usually just cut off the switch and then wire it up into a flip switch or a pod switch. Haven’t had an issue with them. Worst case cut yours off with some room on each end so if you need to reattach it you can.

    go online and look up anti theft bolts. Then replace the mounting bolts with them. also just get wheel locks for your wheels. Replace one lug nut and your good. make sure you put one on your spare as well. If it takes too much time the bad guys are interested. Nice install and thanks for the laughs.

    • @FreedomCrawler
      @FreedomCrawler  8 років тому

    I agree. I have no need for a "bullet proof" or "Sharknado prroof" light bar. I got a cheap one that works when I need it to and I'm not going to wince if a tree branch hits it ( a rock already did and it works fine). Nobody's looking to steal it either >BONUS!

  • @NickJolliff
    @NickJolliff 5 років тому +1

    You put those wires on the wrong post for the battery. Those are to tighten it down on the battery and can't function properly with anything connected. You need to get a nut and put it on the negative post that is empty with no nut. The positive already has 3 posts with other things you can loosen one of those and use. But don't use the posts you did as it weakens the battery terminal connection.
