- Is this, like, REAL???? um, somehow. I was invited to none other than Buckingham Palace to collect my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award at the Gold DofE Awards Ceremony! mad mad MAD. There were celebrities there (everyone from Ronan Keating, to Nick from The Apprentice!), as well as so many of you beautiful people! Enjoy a very cool vlog :)
I really cannot recommend DofE enough. All the levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold!) are bloody tough, but also very rewarding. It inspired me to get into volunteering more, improve my Dutch Skillz, challenge myself both mentally and physically in the expeditions as well as learn to bond with people I didn't really know! DofE is a registered charity, so if you want to take part but can't afford an aspect of it, you can also apply for bursaries!! 🌟www.dofe.org

Of course she juggled UA-cam, A-levels and a gap year stress whilst still looking so pretty and calm. Congratulations. I only got up to bronze and I had enough. Xx
SAME
Should I go? I it fun? I'm tired this year would it help or not
Agneta Rupšytė it’s sooo fun but quite difficult. I’d say it’s worth it for the funny memories tbh.
I am just starting my training for my bronze dofe
This video called me a peasant in 100 different languages
0:42 JIM CARTER?? From downtown Abbey????? 😬😬😱😱
You are soooo lucky!!!!
Not only that but I’m 99% sure the woman with him was fucking Imelda Staunton whose also sooo talented and famous like wtf
THIS IS AMAZING!!! On another note, where's your phone case from please ahah?
wow...two of my favourite youtubers from two different sides of youtube...its a small youtube world :D
Omg Emily I love your channel❤❤
Jim Carter... JIM CARTER! My boy Mr Carson from Downton Abbey aka legend
izzyw Ikr?! I was so excited when I saw who it was! 😂😂 big up Mr Carson
His wife played Umbridge in HP as well!!
Jade: I have a UA-cam channel
Nick: *NO!*
There’s no way better to describe DofE than the inability to use a Trangia and carrying too much on the expedition
Fuck me I got back from bronze yesterday and burned rice on the trangia because I didn’t put any water in 😭
@Laughs and Jokes and Toca world and Roblox OH MY GOD HAHAHA I’ve just signed up for silver but I have to wait till September when I’m in year 10 to start, at the weekend we went canoeing, on a long walk, played football, rounders and archery and cooked on trangias. We got lost on our walk and a turkey flew at us 😭 we also chased sheep and got chased my cows LMFAO I hope ur alright after all those injuries though oml. I’m doing it with my first aid cadets and we’re all first aiders so that’s useful 💀
Hi jade, I live in Dubai and most of the schools over here do offer DofE...and the expedition was absolutely amazing and since Dubai is located in the middle East, we had so walk in the desert...and I haven't regretted my decision to participate in the award, it was super cool
khuwaish chulani sane

No way! I saw someone from my street in the side of one of the clips getting their award! I had no idea they had got their gold DofE! Well done Jade, I’m currently doing my Bronze!
I've done bronze and just did my silver qualifier last weekend and honestly was NOT keen on doing gold lol. This has changed my mind a little though... Oh New Zealand also offer DofE btw :))
Hey I also did my silver last weekend and it was hell due to the heat! So I totally relate about not sure about wanting to do gold. Maybe ask the people running gold more about it so you know what you're getting yourself into and look into alternate ways of completing it like canoeing or biking or horse riding etc. But I think it's a great experience.
@@bethanymonday3726 Yeah I'm definetly not writing it off but right now I'm still more leaning towards not doing it tbh. I'd rather just do the volunteering anyway and leave the walking you know? 😂
but they call it duke of edinburgh hillary which made me so confused at first cause i thought it was duke of edmund hillary for too long
It will be worth it in the end
@@hannahsheppard8362 you can always do the volunteering physical skill and everything you need to complete it and then decide whether to do the walk or not. That's what I'm doing as you have until you're 25 to do the walk and you dont even have to walk! You can do canoeing or horse riding or biking etc so you can always take things one step at a time. Good luck my friend and wish me luck too😂💗
its actually available in almost 144 nations including cyprus, zambia, korea, india, south africa etc. IM SO VERY PROUD OF YOU JADE. LOTS OF LOVE FROM KENYA!
Yap I'm proud of her, found my fellow Kenyan,,

I've missed seeing my positive UA-cam queen! Uganda looks amazing, hope you're doing well x
YOU MET NICK!! WHAT?? THE NICK!! FROM COUNTDOWN AND THE APPRENTICE!! I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTROL MYSELF!!
WELL DONE JADE YOU ARE SHINING!!
Just finished my gold qualifying expedition on Monday (my birthday). I’ve done all three, the worst but the best thing I’ve ever done!! Congrats Jade!! Xx
Congratulations!! You deserve and have inspired me in so many aspects of life, thank you 😌
This brings back memories!! I started my bronze DofE 15 years ago!! Unfortunately I didn’t complete it but the volunteering and skill development I did do was priceless!
Watching this is giving me nostalgia from when I collected my award. So proud of you ! Dofe is no joke.
I was invited to the same ceremony for completing my gold award but I couldn't go because I was traveling. So gutted!! I wish I could have met you!!! :) Well done Jade, have a great summer!! :)
Honestly so impressed you could endure gold D of E. I gave up at bronze 💕😁
Nick from the apprentice was so lovely and supportive!! And Congratulations xx
CONGRATULATIONS Jade!!!🎉
Also where did you get that dress as I would love to have it; it's just gorgeous!😍😍
1:11 AGHHH Louise is the coolest!! I’m so jealous! Well done on completing your gold DofE Jade: even though I’ve never done DofE but I found this vlog super interesting! On an unrelated note, please could you call year 11s again the night before results day again as I would love that? P.S. best of luck to all those y13s in the vlog for August 15th 🍀
We have something similar in kenya called the Presidents Award. My best friend from london who also did DofE- bronze came and joined us in year 10. She said that PA was much harder as in PA we do the same thing but in much harsher conditions. We camp at local schools each night and have to trek to the schools we were to stay in every day. Just 2 weeks back i did my gold and man that was hard. We trekked 83 kilometres in total and it was alot from having to climb mountains and hills with thorny bushes to flat roads that never seemed to end. I questioned my self several times. From having to cook for ourselves and going to stinky latrines everyday it really made me grateful for what i have. Just wanted to enlighten anyone who was reading this.
Congrats Jade! I really don’t know how juggled everything at once! Hats of to you!! So proud of you x
Last year (actually a year ago tomorrow) I went on an expedition to Norway with a group of 21 people. It was run by a company called World Challenge and we went for 10 days. We did exactly the same thing as you by the sounds of it! We canoed for 2 days and hiked for 5. We also had the shovel but we called it Dug, no idea why but that was his name 😂😂😂 I'm going into year 10 next year so I had just finished year 8 when we went and I am just starting my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award now! I can't wait as Norway was so much fun and I would do anything to have an experience like that again 💜
Jade congratulations on the DofE. My goal is to get the Gold Gaisce/Gold Sun which are equivalents to the DofE (the first is the Irish equivalent and the second is the Irish Girl Guide equivalent)
Wow your gold expedition sounds so much more interesting than mine, I’m just walking for 4 days in Yorkshire 😂
Well done Jade! This is such an amazing achievement. I wish I could apply and go backpacking and all of these wonderful things but I doubt they offer it where I live. But I'm so happy for you
I’ve been waiting for this vlog since Louises Buckingham Palace weekly. Literally two of my absolutely FAVOURITE YTers
Can you make a video all about DofE ? How to apply , how to get bursaries etc?? ❤️ pleaseee! ❤️
“I’ve got a YT channel” “NOO!?”😂😂😂
Looked very beautiful and pretty jane and congrats for ur gold medal. Well i also took part in duke of Edinburgh Award but stopped at bronze itself and was rewarded too as i got my bronze medal
However due to lack of time and friends, support and departure of a favorite teacher at grade 9 i stopped but it was great fun.
Just keep up the great work and thnks a lot for the dedictation you show and amount of work you give in your videos for students like us!!
👍👌✌👏😊

Jade: "They're doing the same A-levels as me!!!!"
Hi Jade! First of all I just wanted to say that I really love your channel! Especially the travel vlogs are amazing!
Keep on doing you!
+ I would really want to see more videos with Folk! He seems like such an amazing and genuine person!
We have Duke of Ed in New Zealand too! Congrats on your achievement ☺️ (oh and we can do it through school, at least mine)
Well done Jade xx! I do DofE in France because I go to an international school and I just finished my bronze award, loved it!!
Hey jade, duke of Edinburgh is also offered in New Zealand, I just got back from Cambodia and Vietnam for a doe trip, we did our final tramp in Cambodia and also our residential where we made desks for a primary school which was the amazing experience would 100% recommend, go for antipodeons xxx
Congratulations and congratulations you deserve the world! Keep going ahhhh proud!!! Now keep going because you didn't come this far to come this far
How haven’t I discovered you before Jade!! Your amazing! Your so talented and so so pretty! I’ve live in the UK 🇬🇧 too, and so far have completed both bronze and silver levels, and next year I am completing my gold award and I am so so excited! I loved every second of my experiences and I made loads of new friends which I shared some unforgettable moments with, and who I will now be friends with forever! If anybody’s reading this, please please please do get involved with DofE if you can, it’s such a truly amazing amazing thing to do, plus I wasn’t even terribly fit and I managed it!! It’s so rewarding in so many ways :)) xxxx oh also - subscribed!! Xoxo 💗💗💗💗
Oh my gosh. Your going to Uganda. My parents are from there. I went there 2 months and my first day, I tried to adjust myself to the weather. But it was amazing.
Wish u gooood luck.
Dear Jade, WOW I can't express what an inspiration you are to me. I use to live I Zambia for seven years and I know of a few people that have completed the Duke of Edinburgh challenges. Not only on this video have you inspired me but EVERY single video. I live in Berlin now and the school has been challenging especially with the German and you have pulled me through exam periods and so much more. This is super cheesy, but who cares, I strangely feel I can relate to you so much more than anyone I have come across. I would love to get in contact with you! Keep on what you are doing and I wish you all the best in the world.
I am Magdeleen Snyman by the way, 17 years old born in South Africa, lived in Zambia and now live in Berlin for the last 3 years.
Look Oxford what kind of person you’ve rejected 😒 so proud of you Jade ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Everything happens for a reason though💕
I went to Norway too for my exped and did 4 days kayaking as well, it's sooooo beautiful!!! Also will be going for my presentation soon, nice to have a bit of a sneak peak at what to expect. x
Wooh I’m just about to do my gold expedition!!! I can’t wait!! ❤️
you're such a positive influence jade aaaaaaaaa im so proud of u and i can only dream of achieving as much as you have
Bronze practice was so bad and I was like IM NEVER DOING SILVER OR GOLD and I did the real thing and it was so fun I’m doing silver now yayy
j a i m i n i I’m doing my bronze assessment in two months and my practice was SO BAD so idk if I want to do silver
amie locker the route was flatter this time also, do squats every day cause that built up my muscle
j a i m i n i me and my mate are going to the gym twice a week in the holidays to do walking up hill to build our stamina so when it comes to the assessment we’ll find it easier
amie locker same i’ve done bronze idk about doing silver :(
i did bronze dofe and my practice expedition went AWFUL. we were all walking super slow, got chased by a bunch of cows, our bags were SUPER heavy. but when it came to the assessed expedition, we didn’t take as much stuff and it actually went super well (thankfully no cows this time). Just have hope and don’t forget ur emergency rations!! (you will fail if u don’t have them and that’s an awful reason to fail)
Congrats Jade! 🎉 I have just started my Bronze DofE so your advice was so helpful! I am hoping to complete all of the stages like you! 💗💗
Jade, you won't make it to the Buckingham palace even once..
You'll make it there a *hundred* times
Than you so much for motivating and inspiring me everyday
And thank you for reminding me to stop procrastinating and get my revision done for some mocks that I have
You're the absolute best🌟❤
I live in Australia, and did my bronze level Duke of Edinburgh through school last year and finished it this year. Although, my experience was quite a bad one.
Duke of Ed is a compulsory program for year 9's at my school. Nobody has a choice. This, naturally, made us all dread it. We didn't have the choice, and instead we felt like it was thrust upon us. The school uses it as a way to keep our year level out of trouble, as so many people believe that year 9 is where students 'go bad' or start to rebel. To make matters worst, Year 9 happened to be THE busiest year I have ever encountered. I was a part of 3 school bands and 3 school choirs, two netball teams, which meant two trainings and two games a week, I started voice lessons AND had a lead role in my schools musical. There was only one morning where I wasn't at school at 7:30 and only one afternoon where I had any free time. I also had a lot of health complications, and suffered extreme anxiety throughout the year. Although most of the components of Duke of Ed were already activities I was doing, that extra pressure that I was put under was overbearing. I was made to feel like no matter what I was doing was still not good enough because it wasn't written down on a piece of paper.
Then the adventurous journey component came along. We completed that earlier this year. It felt like the entire event was shaded in mystery. We all felt like we were being left in the dark in terms of what we had to do and what we were doing on the actual camp. I was so incredibly anxious about the camp that I almost pulled out. I almost abandoned it completely.
Our camp was a hiking/canoeing camp that lasted four days and three nights. All I can say is that it was..... well...……. an experience. We spent the first 2 days hiking (7km the first day & 10km the 2nd). And the 3rd & 4th days were canoeing, about 10km each day. The problem with that is that it was scorching hot. Mid to high 30's Celsius all four days. We had girls suffering from exhaustion, and one girl suffer from extremely bad heatstroke.
But the one thing that bought me up each day was looking at the stars each night. I have always been a space nerd, and star gazing has always been my favourite. I do recommend the program to those wishing to go outside your comfort zone. But the thing that I can't stress enough is that TIMING IS EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!! Choose wisely, and try to have fun with it.
You are SO INSPIRATIONAL. Honestly your videos get me through my day, my year, my life and you are motivational. Thank you Jade 💖🙏
Plenty of other countries offer dofe! I nearly finished my bronze in Slovakia
Reality check: DofE does not mean anything (I'm not trying to belittle Jade's achievement, but in the real world nobody cares). I'm personally not a fan of DofE Awards because poor students / students without the support of their school - which is by no means assured - simply do not have the resources to do it. It's a middle class jolly.
Thank you ! I really like Jade but felt out of place watching this video...
Sam O'Sullivan thank you, like honestly who the fuck cares about DofE in the professional realm😂😂
Sam O'Sullivan yeah but it’s really cool I’m doing bronze
its good to put on your CV and helps u get into uni
We do DofE at my school and I didn't think I would do it but now I'm just going to do it!! Thx for the inspiration
Mr Carson from Downton Abbey!! I would have been so star struck 🤩!!
Hello I’m korean boy!! 🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷
I like your video 🙆🏻♂️🙏🏻✨

Omg omg the guy from Apprentice 😱😱😱
Nick was so funny 😂 I love him! Well done Jade ❤️
I went to the grounds to watch my boyfriend and his dad get their awards for being in the army, so proud and I had the privilege of shacking hands with the queen. So proud of you jade! X
I'm fucking crying, she was so happy meeting Nick and other people...
Well done! This is such a great achievement. I did Bronze 3 years ago but I hated the whole expedition. I loved the planning and I still do my skill and sport as well as volunteering when I can which is nice but I couldn’t deal with doing another expedition!!
I did bronze 4 years ago now (wow doesn't feel that long ago) and this vid brought back so many memories. I've wanted to do the silver but haven't had the opportunity XX
Really inspirational to watch and I hope that I will get through to Gold D Of E too (obvs doing the others first) 🙃
Ps- you looked AMAZING and u deserved the gold award! Love from Shropshire, England x
I’ve just finished my bronze expedition and it wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be...you’ve inspired me to continue and go onto doing silver and hopefully gold!❤️ I absolutely love watching your videos and I am so grateful for everything you post here, pretty sure lots of people are!!😄 Any advice for Silver and Gold??
Lots of 💖 xx
Hi jade! I’m a big fan of your videos and this one in particular was really helpful. I completed my bronze dofe earlier this year and I have been undecided as to wether I will go on to do silver and gold. This video really inspired me and I have decided to participate in the other levels, thank you so much ahah! xx💜💜💜
Congratulations Jade...you deserved it & I'm really jealous of your achievements...I wish I could do just like you do...btw I feel really motivated & inspired after watched this video
See in you talk about dofe really motivated me to keep going with mine, I'm almost done with gold now!! Thanks Jade
I saw you in Louise’s vlog and I was waiting for this one ✨💕
I'm in year nine and I just did my Bronze award last weekend. I'm hoping that my school with offer Silver next year for us. Well done on achiveing Gold!!!!!
There's DofE here in Lithuania. A few of my classmates have done bronze and/or silver. At first I was kind of interested in doing it but I don't think I'm quite that kind of person.
Duke of Ed is offered around the world, in over 144 countries. Its now a complete worldwide thing, with millions of people doing it
Congrats Jade!!! Im so proud of you :)) I'm from malaysia and i'm currently doing my Bronze DofE.
Was in a History Open Day at Durham Uni and whoever was doing the presentation said I don’t care if you’ve got a Gold D of E I just want to know why you want to study history. Should have seen the looks on some faces.🤣
Hey! Well done you should be very proud!Just wanted to say Duke of Ed is in New Zealand too. I’m aiming for gold and have just started bronze because I’m only 14! Thanks for inspiring so many people you’re truly amazing!
Nick what a legend😂
Congratulations!!! Could you please do a video where you tell us what skills you need for DofE and what you did for that!!! Im gonna have DofE too and I really wanna get selected!!!Thx😄
we also have duke of Edinburgh at my international school in china but its more often referred to as international award or ia instead of d of e!
I am proud of you and you are really a wonderful human being.
doing DofE has allowed me to go to so many places in New Zealand that i never would have gone to normally so thats a good time :))))
What an amazing opportunity: Buckingham Palace, meeting Nick Hewer 😊
But the way our lovely Jade is now having to address international audiences. 🇦🇹🇦🇪🇦🇺😂
Well, you've "sold DofE well enough from that little memoir" that I really want to do it!
My boyfriends on his gold DofE at the moment lmao. You seem so happy and that makes me so happy
Ooh my!!!I've never been sooo early.Congratulations My Little Angel.I did bronze n then gave up I couldn't cope I no the hardwork it requires n I'm sure of something I'll Forever regret not completing it😳.I'm thus incredibly proud of ya.In the middle of A-level mocks n you're the ray of sunshine I neede right now😊💛#MauritianFan❤🌅🌟
I just finished silver on the duke of York- it doesn’t have gold yet but it’s coming up to it. Duke of York is much easier than DofE as it’s on the computer and teaches you things that you might need later on in life if you would like to start you can do it on
iDEA.org.uk
Just done silver and have to wait until year 12 to do Gold. I'm gonna have to rewatch this during the time I do gold and on the way to the expedition. I agree with the questioning - on our first day of the qualifying silver, like none of our paths were viable, so we took 11 hours 40 minutes to walk and I cried when the day was over
DofE is offered to Australians through a program called Australian Army Cadets as well! Such a great opportunity which takes years of commitment
Oh wow! So cool that you were invited!!
Jim Carter is a patron at my theatre school!! X
I am just completed my bronze DofE and I am completely shattered, let’s put it like that. We got lost and ended up walking for 12 hours.
Rip same, on my bronze trip we read the map wrong and went down a mountain instead of up, on silver animals ate through some of our bags during dinner and ate all our food and peed everywhere and it was completely flooded during gold... Yeah my group was a mess the entire time 😂
I'm doing my gold in South Africa in a few months :)
Congratulations! Coming from a guy that likes mountaineering and adventures, I can only say though that D of E is hard. It is hard because first of all, at 16, your bodies are still developing and there is lack of strength in teenagers making it harder to carry the rucks. Everyone adventurous may wish to try but not everyone is built to handle the challenges due to low bodyweight, physically. The teammates with you don't really know team work and not everyone will put out. All of this changes when you become an adult and start really to dive into mountaineering and find the right people but as a young teen, no one knows that this is coming. Also people do die on the D of E (accidents happen due to ill proper planning from the teachers) , and its pointless making it as if it is a simple careless expedition. So you really have to be responsible and be on the lookout where you camp. Just some food for thoughts...
*CONGRATULATIONS JADE* Kudos to you!! I really want to do DOFE award! My school does it but it starts at year 10! I’m going into year 10 next year ! How much are the costs?
Silly Billy Mythili for me it was about £60 but I think it varies a lot for different schoolchildren
Daisy 123 oh ok Thank you
if y'all are curious the american equivalent to this award is the congressional award
I did it at school and got the DofE bronze award 😊congratulations and well done doing all three and getting the gold award 👍
We have something like that in Ireland, it’s called Gaisce or the Presidents award. And yeah we had to do an activity, a personal skill and charity work along with a two day hike
wow, i am watching this in 2022... and feeling so proud of our girl...
Can you a video going more in depth into DofE? Like giving us tips. That would be really helpful😅💖
The Queen herself went to Buckingham palace!
jade is so so pretty. BEAUTY WITH BRAINS
