I'm currently not in the market for a new grill, but I will for sure be giving the Vision Grill a look when I am. Far as Green Egg goes, my brother has one he's owned for years, brags about it all the time, but I'll be dammed if I'll pay that much for one.
I have Vision Pro S, absolutely love it, I pay in thousands for smoker grill and Vision beat them all and I even got on sale at Home Depot. Its high quality unit with outstanding features that I need and love
That brisket was no where near ready to eat. It was under cooked I know you didn't have an internal temp of 200 degrees. That took away from the point of testing the grills.
The comparison seemed a little biased. You didn’t mention that the heat deflector for the Vision grill is a separate purchase of about $60. You didn’t make it clear if the same lump charcoal was used in both smokers. That would make a difference in how smoky the meat tastes. Aside from that I really don’t want to go into detail how you ruined two racks of ribs. Thanks for the time and effort you put into this but please do legitimate comparisons instead of showing bias and pushing a product. I think it’s important to mention I own the same Vision grill and got it for $399. Different shelves and color but same grill. So far I’m happy with it.
I got my Vision at Sam's club 4 years ago end of season for $299 and I love it! It has held up well, even in Chicago winters it has not fallen apart or cracked. The whole thing is still stable on the stand and side racks are fine. I keep the cover on it that was included with the purchase when not in use of course. It isn't as thick a ceramic as the BGE so it doesn't insulate as well but for the $700 difference I can deal with that....it also has a lifetime warranty so if anything goes wrong I am covered. I have heard of a few folks with trouble and Vision took care of them no questions asked.
With all due respect... You need to know how to smoke BBQ before you do a review on smokers. That brisket was not even close to being done, and I suspect the ribs were not done as well.
Wow, I’m speechless normally the people doing the review at least have the fundamentals down. The only thing this convinced me of, is that the only BBQ these two are capable of delivering would be as DoorDash drivers.
There is no way that brisket was done. There shouldn't be blood coming out like that. What temp was it pulled? Did you rest it in a cooler for any length of time?
I inherited a bge that is probably 16-17 years old, it has sat in the weather for years, it is an old generation before Springed hinges, temp gauge still works, nothing rusted, all looks original, maybe costs more but I bet these two sit side by side in the weather for years the difference in quality will be aparent..
Please do a comparison of components, dimensions, accessories included, accessories available for add on’s between manufacturers . That’s something me as a consumer would desire as much as how it cooks . For me they seem to be similar if not the same .
Folks pay for the service from BGE. My neighbor found an old 40 year old small that had rusted hinges and broke inside. Took it to the factory here in Atlanta for parts and they said they don't have parts for that anymore. So what did they do? The gave him a brand new small egg for free. Not too bad.
Picked up my vision grill at Sam’s today for $299. End of season they are knocking off $200. Looked at the egg and have been using a Akron steel grill. The Akron has been having a lot of problems with temp and I have put new seals on it. Decided for $299 the vision would be my best deal right now. Doing the initial heat right now to get it ready for this weekend!
Love my vision. I only have 180 bucks in mine. Friend ordered one. Sent pieces missing. Sent him a brand new one and told him to keep the other. Gave it to me. So after parts ordered and metal rack built. 180. Love it!
Vision is a very good grill, sorry but all these big Green egg guys saying its a knock off can knock it off 😂 y'all paid for the name. I love mine, most importantly I always say the pit is only as good as the guy running it!
I had my egg way before makers started coping BGE! This is my 15 years of owning it! I am not kidding! Only thing I had to replace is the fire lower fire box which was replaced for free and the hight temperature gasket 20 bucks. Not bad for 15 years!!! Let see if these new versions will last that long!!! And did I mention that you can piratically touch the sides of BGE without burning yourself!!!
I have been researching kamado for months now and I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a Kamado Joe. I believe the KJ is going to be the new standard.
Grill temperature was too high then. It's not just meat temp, but duration matters too. This is where 'slow' part of 'low and slow' comes into play. Slow cooking, slow, gradual meat temperature increase. GIves it more time to break down collagens, fats, and turn the muscle into nice tender cuts of meat.
Hey dude. Thanks for posting this video but your meats are way undercooked. The brisket was pink in the middle. And your ribs I could hear how hard your bite was.
Hi Jack, Great job on the comparison of the 2 grills. You know that I many years of experience with the Kamado Style grills, so I would like to make a couple of comment. The Kamado Style grill is far and away the the most versatile grill on the market. You can grill, smoke, bbq and bake all on1 grill. Another huge benefit of this style grill is that they are made of ceramic, ceramic holds in the heat and moisture that escapes the metal grills. Hence the very moist meats. Now the briskets that you cooked: should be smoked at a very low temperature for a long time. On a Kamado I normally smoke my briskets at 225 for 11 hours. Then it is so moist and melt in your mouth. You can't rush cooking on any style grill, Barbecuing is love and it take time.
Be careful there man you're going to trigger those Big Green Egg fan boys who love to spend thousands of dollars for a name. I love my Char griller Akorn kamado.
I bought my Vision Grill at Sam's Club about 5 years ago for about $550. When I got it home, I needed help getting it out of my SUV. I took out all of the accessories and assembled the stand, then asked my neighbor, who has a Green Egg, to help me. When we took it out of my car and put it in the stand, he asked... "It came with the stand?" "Yes." It came with the side tables?" "Yes." "It cam with the double grill?" "Yes." It came with the cover?" "Yes." That's about 1/3 the price of my Green Egg." I have used my Vision grill at least twice a week since I got it. I have cooked steaks, including Cowboy Ribeyes, Lobster, Chicken, Brisket, Boston Butt, Burgers, Mac and Cheese, Pork Chops, and anything you can think of. I love it and have no regrets. It holds the temperature great. I would recommend it to anyone, especially for the price. I have a very nice Weber Gensis II grill, and a Smoker as well. I NEVER uses the smoker anymore, and only use the Weber when time or cooking surface area is a factor. I can cook a steak on my Vision Grill better then nearly any $75+ restaurant steak.
I have a Vision Pro S Series that converts from Charcoal to Propane and I absolutely love it! From grilling to smoking it has been phenomenal. I'd highly recommend to everyone!
I got the Visions grill at Sam's for about $350 on closeout. My buddy has an egg, about $1200 with accessories, and I can tell you that they are comparable. Mine has some features I like and the egg has some that I like, but for almost a grand cheaper, I have no regrets. They are both, at heart, double walled ceramic tubs that do the same thing. Kamado style cookers are fantastic and smoke food as well as anything you can buy at a fancy BBQ joint.
Jack god bless you Dr. Gotta say the main difference and main reason why everything is a night and day difference on, smoke flavor, bark, juice, and smoke rings Lies in the chimney material. The big green egg is made of aluminum.. I'm looking at this vision grill and it looks like cast iron. Again, thanks for doing this video synopsis it was everything I wanted out of the Kama do joe vs egg. I feel like I corcumnavigated both. Love the passion and love the rawness
I’m a KJ guy in the market for a cheap addition to my setup that comes in red - so definitely not an Egghead and was pulling for the Vision in this video. But from the start this was such a slanted review that I couldn’t take away any valuable insight for my decision. It’s a shame since there aren’t many Vision or Louisiana (the other affordable red Kamado) videos out there.
jack - what happened to your akorn kamado? Also, don't go by temperature for brisket, its done when you can probe through it like room temperature butter.
So 5 years later, which one you liking best on these egg type grills? I got the small akron one from Homedepot to test it out years ago, and now the bottom is about rusted out. Looking for and up grade for the bigger sized one.
Jack, I have an idea for you. Would you consider testing out low sugar/ healthier treat recipes? Like brownies made with splenda? Or maybe even comparing different recipes and saying which one you like better? :)
You pulled the brisket way too early. It should practically rip apart with ease. Looked like you guys were having to chew quite a bit like a cheap steak.
Really seemed like you had your mind set from the start on which grill you liked. I can't say I blame you, the price of the green egg and trimmings seems excessive.
BGE is nice but overpriced and having to buy all the accessories to go with one is madness imo. I don't own one but the Vision is a great deal and looks really nice. Excellent video.
I eat vegan 90% of the time but this video is making me have a meatgasm!!!!! Not only does everything look delicious but the sounds of you guys eating makes the food seem even better.
Visions grill works good but the service is horrible. In Alberta Canada I can’t even buy a simple gasket set that the manufacturer says should be replaced yearly. These grills are sold at huge retailers like Canadian tire and Home Depot but they don’t carry any maintenance parts. Save yourself the headache and buy the BGE. Service and parts with them is well worth the extra $ you pay upfront. With the visions grill all I have is a lawn ornament that I may as well fill with dirt and plant flowers in it. Waste of a g note
I have a Vision grill and absolutely love it. I dont have a BGE to compare it to but I was in a similar situation with the gasket replacement. I just used the BGE gasket tape and it worked great.
I don't agree at all. Anytime I have had an issue with my Vision Grill, I called and got prompt and great service. The first time I called, it was because I was trying to clean the top vent an accidentally pushed it out. It crashed on my concrete patio and broke. I had my free replacement in a matter of days. The next and last time I called, it was because the casters on the stand wore out. Same thing. I called, sent a few photos, and within days I had a new stand.
This was such a bias and bs review. If anything, they would produce virtually the same product seeinb as though they are both kamados. What people needed to see was the ease of control of each for temp control, how easy it is to bring temps up and lower them if need be, which holds temps the longest without adding more lump (my kj holds it well over 18 hours at 225 without adding more lump) and other things such as that. Also to talk about each ones warranty and longevity of the grills. Even my akorn produces a very similar product to my KJ.
Talk about crazy bias just to promote the vision grill. I don't own a Big Green Egg, but for crying out loud do a proper review of each product example touch on quality, warranties etc. It is very clear what you are been paid to push.
how is my video a paid promotion and your comment says the same thing my video showed. What is the dif? BTW, I didn't get a dime. I don't know either company.
If you notice, the "best" product in the world may be the best for a while, but theres always a product that is equal, or better, in quality that always comes along for half the price. With Yeti it was Ozark Trail, which you can get at Walmart for half the price of a Yeti, and it seems like the Green Egg has met its match in the Vision Grill
One thing not mentioned is the fact that BGE stands behind there product and will usually replace anything that goes wrong for free. The cheaper kamado style grills dont offer the same customer service
@@robertsanger5889 Indeed. I have a BGE and buddy told me he wanted one. I told him to get a Vision. He did and their service is impeccable (they have had a few issues with stand/casters and one other thing that cracked on him). In fact, I just bought a Vision C series today for our farm and my dad got that combo from Sams with the M Series a few months back (he hasn't used it yet, though). The C Series I got today was marked down to $349 and I'm not sure if it was wrong product or what, but I'm not complaining.
Hey man have you ever had a problem with charcoal on your wood deck? I'm kind of hesitant of using a charcoal grill on my new wood deck. But I don't know let me know how it works for you
I have the Vision Pro S and have exclusively used it on my wood deck that is covered with no issues at all. they don't get very hot and don't produce to much smoke if you're doing it right.
Defiently took those off way too early. Put smoke on it for some time and wrap the brisket till you get up to 200 or so. The ribs .. No words boss.. Gotta work on the technique ..
My local Big Lots had a season ending closeout sale on their ceramic grill (i think it was Vision). I kid you not, they had it on sale for just $299. I almost bought a 2nd one :-)
I'd love to get the Vision Grill at Sams for the $200 off, (the BGE just seems too much $) but I just got the Pit Barrel Cooker a few weeks ago and I need more of the time buffer between grill buying. Might be a tough sell but I'll try and see what happens today while the sale is on. Thanks Jack.
I've got a New Braunfels Smoker and love it. They eat some wood but the taste is worth it. low and slow is key. My Briskets take on average 12 hours and then another hour of rest. Paid $300 for a used one off Craigslist five years ago and this thing should last at least another 20 years.
I've got the original Vision egg in Green from several years ago. I love my Vision grill, got it at end of season for $299 at Sam's i think it was 2014 when I got it. Still works great!
It's the smoke ring, the smoke make the meat that color, actually for beef it's necesary 160-170° to be coked, and to make a brisket just right as they done it's needed 200°
@@llacsa3701 I've smoked plenty of things and I've never had anything come out looking like that. Around the very edge under the bark will be red, but on chicken and ribs, the rest of the meat needs to be white.
I'm not a smoker, but isn't the meat supposed to fall apart or fall off the bone when you touch it. I saw some red in that chicken and that beef screamed when you pulled it off the bone, I don't think it wanted to leave. I might get the Vision at home depot for memorial day weekend.
DAN M. Sorta. Most bbq rib aficionados will tell you that rib meat should not fall off the bone. Tender, yes, but not fall off the bone. With a properlybcooked rib, you should be able to but it and see individual teeth marks (if you want meet to fall off the bone, save a ton of money and just smile a pork shoulder)
I smoked my entire life and Vision produce perfect temp and perfect smoke and it hold that temp long I need and easily adjust temp, but Istart low temp work up afterbsmoked ,way I like it. Go Vision you wi=ont regret it.
Jessee Stiltner Funny that Walmart the parent company of Sam’s Club carries his brand of sauces. You know a full disclosure statement would have been nice up front.
Kamado Big Joe owner here , very happy with it. I have never owned a big green egg , but have owned a vision grill , there is no comparison, the vision gets all wobbly after some time, at least mine did. My kamado joe is as good as new .
I have the vision grill and it’s the best bbq I’ve ever owned. I’ve cooked everything from steak, chicken, fish, chicken wings, potato’s and even pizza all excellent. I’ve slow smoked in it excellent again smoked chicken wings salmon pork belly bits. The vision grill is A+
I do love your channel about how you take something out of the box and show how easy or difficult it is to work with but this video isn't even a complete comparison of the two grills in esscence they are the exact same they do the exact same thing, they work the exact same way the briskets were not even close to done and comparing one has better smoke or bark than the other is folly to say the least, I disagree on how you say one, wins over the other when you didn't show the egg at all you focused all on the vision I have friends that own eggs and they are very proud of them they work well their warranty and customer service is barr none they hold up and are quality made, I am not defending the egg over a vision but you cannot compare just on prices I have seen people turn out better food in a converted 55gallon drum vs a 10k smoker set up I really think you need to redo this and give it a proper comparison which one gets to temp faster, which one holds temp the longest, which one has a better warranty, customer service use the exact same charcoal or whatever and same exact starting method
at the begining of the video the other dude was talking about the improvements Vision had made to the main gasket. Maybe they've made improvements to the other seals in the meantime as well?? The meat from it looked damn good. Got me drooling on my keyboard
I have a vision grill. Works great. My only comment is the top grill has to be lifted off when you need to access the lower grill. I believe the green egg the top grill swivels
WOW! THAT IS A BARGAIN BUT BEING ON A FIXED INCOME LEAVES ME OUT OF THE GAME. I NEVER REALLY CARED THAT I CAN'T AFFORD THE FANCY STUFF BUT THIS MADE ME CRY. MADE MY MOUTH WATER. CAN YOU IMAGINE A HICKORY SMOKED TURKEY? I WOULD PASS OUT FROM SHEER JOY!! GREAT VIDEO JACK. THANK YOU.
If you want to smoke a turkey, you can easily do that on the el-cheapo brinkman bullet smokers. Yeah, it'll require a little more work on your part, but it is do-able to keep a decent smoke going for a couple of hours on those things.
lol dude you did the same thing on the weber v sam's club review. At least learn to grill and smoke before you try to review products. You also obviously are inflating your subs with bots. 451k subs and only around 5k views on most your videos? Smelling a lot of bs coming from your direction.

Brisket isn’t even close guys. A brisket of that size needs like 12 hours
thats what I was saying I smoke brisket overnight and then wrap when it hits around 195/200 then its another few hours at 250.

I eat vegan 90% of the time but this video is making me have a meatgasm!!!!! Not only does everything look delicious but the sounds of you guys eating makes the food seem even better.
Ribs look like they were cooked in a microwave.
Just like the Weber review. Not bias at all
Visions grill works good but the service is horrible.
Yeah, that's not bias at all.
These guys destroyed meat like there’s no tomorrow 🤦🏽♂️
Cant tell if its lightning or camera settings, but was that brisket cooked to a medium'ish internal temperature?
Mile High V lmfao I said the exact same thing
Obviously a paid promotion, I’ve owned both and honestly they are very similar.
how is my video a paid promotion and your comment says the same thing my video showed.
Vision stands great behind their product
@@robertsanger5889 Indeed. I have a BGE and buddy told me he wanted one. I told him to get a Vision. He did and their service is impeccable (they have had a few issues with stand/casters and one other thing that cracked on him). In fact, I just bought a Vision C series today for our farm and my dad got that combo from Sams with the M Series a few months back (he hasn't used it yet, though). The C Series I got today was marked down to $349 and I'm not sure if it was wrong product or what, but I'm not complaining.
Vision stands behind their products. Shipped the whole replacement grill (the ceramic part) to Canada. The service is unbelievable.
Gotta work on the technique ..
looks like the membrane on the back of the ribs wasn't removed
Spelling ... grammar.
Ummmmm, WTF? Worst bbq I've seen.
I have the akorn :( its pretty good at smoking though
My local Big Lots had a season ending closeout sale on their ceramic grill (i think it was Vision). I kid you not, they had it on sale for just $299. I almost bought a 2nd one :-)
I laughed so hard when I seen all the meat lol
I'd love to get the Vision Grill at Sams for the $200 off, (the BGE just seems too much $) but I just got the Pit Barrel Cooker a few weeks ago and I need more of the time buffer between grill buying. Might be a tough sell but I'll try and see what happens today while the sale is on. Thanks Jack.
Random Acts of Cooking lmao you see he gave this guy a heart like but did not respond to any questions at all
I like how he blames it Sam's club lmao
I've got a New Braunfels Smoker and love it. They eat some wood but the taste is worth it. low and slow is key. My Briskets take on average 12 hours and then another hour of rest. Paid $300 for a used one off Craigslist five years ago and this thing should last at least another 20 years.
I'll have to check that one out. haven't seen a Braunfels.
I've got the original Vision egg in Green from several years ago. I love my Vision grill, got it at end of season for $299 at Sam's i think it was 2014 when I got it. Still works great!
I love my Vision grill but it almost seemed like Vision paid this guy to talk it up so much. Btw whats with the medium/mid rare brisket?
Thats the perfect briskets honey not médium or well done is eaten raw
You can tell it's tough
So.. who eats medium rare Brisket?
Yeah... I didn’t understand that either
In Texas is call perfecto my friend
Shelves are both pine. Yet he calls the green egg shelves flimsy 🙄🙄😂😂
Yikes ....... those briskets look tough
I know right!!
Because they're undercooked and so are the ribs.
It's the smoke ring, the smoke make the meat that color, actually for beef it's necesary 160-170° to be coked, and to make a brisket just right as they done it's needed 200°
@@llacsa3701 I'm new to smoking meat, just wondering why so hot, 170° for chicken and 200° on the brisket, isn't that over cooking temperature?
I hate when the meat falls of the bone.. I want a nice tender bite but only the bite comes off the rest stays on.
I smoked my entire life and Vision produce perfect temp and perfect smoke and it hold that temp long I need and easily adjust temp, but Istart low temp work up afterbsmoked ,way I like it. Go Vision you wi=ont regret it.
Go hard Vision Grill......Ha,Haaaaaaaa! I love hard core sale advertising.
Wow..this isn’t biased at all
Jessee Stiltner Funny that Walmart the parent company of Sam’s Club carries his brand of sauces. You know a full disclosure statement would have been nice up front.
Lol was that a medium brisket?
Kamado Big Joe owner here , very happy with it. I have never owned a big green egg , but have owned a vision grill , there is no comparison, the vision gets all wobbly after some time, at least mine did. My kamado joe is as good as new .
I have the vision grill and it’s the best bbq I’ve ever owned. I’ve cooked everything from steak, chicken, fish, chicken wings, potato’s and even pizza all excellent. I’ve slow smoked in it excellent again smoked chicken wings salmon pork belly bits. The vision grill is A+
Fak that brisket looks hard.
Was it supposed to come with the smoking stone? Mine didn’t have one?
I see tons of reviews about the Vision Grills not being able to keep temps for smoking but of the poor seal at the bottom of the egg.
at the begining of the video the other dude was talking about the improvements Vision had made to the main gasket. Maybe they've made improvements to the other seals in the meantime as well?? The meat from it looked damn good. Got me drooling on my keyboard
You are right on that one... can't keep the temps
Big Green Green Egg is working a better brand strategy, regardless of the product, they are using the "YETI" cooler brand strategy.
zack worrell please explain!?
I have a vision grill. Works great. My only comment is the top grill has to be lifted off when you need to access the lower grill. I believe the green egg the top grill swivels
Informercial at it's worst!
I️ got one of these a few months back
They closed them out at $299.99 at my Sams . I️ should have got two
Hey Jack, love your vids. Since the vision won and you don't seem to like the big green egg, ill take it off your hands for you..
lol dude you did the same thing on the weber v sam's club review. At least learn to grill and smoke before you try to review products. You also obviously are inflating your subs with bots. 451k subs and only around 5k views on most your videos? Smelling a lot of bs coming from your direction.
very interesting grill battle Jack.
His friend definitely went to McDonald's after he left
😂😂😂😂
