Whenever suing the government comes up, I remember the time people sued over the government's biological weapons test dropped on California without notice and the courts ruled that the US government does not require consent to run experiments on citizens for the sake of national defense. If they're willing to back bioweapons being dropped on civilians then what small scale suit stand a chance?

I HATE migration offices. I am from a 3-rd world country, which means I cant go anywhere without a visa. Last year I worked hard and got opportunity to do double diploma in Germany (it’s a huge deal for folks like us). The immigration office in MY COUNTRY denied me because I was not in here for 6 months. Why I wasn’t in my country? Because I was studying in another country, because my country doesn’t have normal IT university!!!! How can I be in my country for 6 months a yers if I am studying 9 month a year in another country.
I didn’t get to get my 2nd diploma in Germany, because the girl in the embassy didn’t like me and started creating reasons to deny me. Thanks

US Immigration is one of the most disgusting agencies in the US, they mistreat law abiding people while they coddle law breakers.
My aunt got deported for missing a visa checkin. She missed it because she had an medical emergency, but she reported the next day with a doctor's note. The immigration official claimed the note was a fabrication and she had no medical emergency. So they arrested her. They then deported her to the wrong country. She ended up being deported to Japan due to her race but she is not a Japanese citizen nor did she have a Japanese visa. She should have been deported to either the UK or Brazil. Her husband who is a UK and US citizen was visiting family in the UK at the time.

So my brother (US citizen and resident) was engaged to a girl from Peru, and so they filed for a fiancé visa. It took 19 MONTHS to get approved for her to come to the US so they could get married legally. He actually had to escalate the case to our SENATOR, who had to open a formal investigation into why it was taking so long for it to be approved. (She was also denied any tourist visas while this was being "processed", so she couldnt even visit in the meantime, he had to go to Peru to see her.) It's no wonder so many are coming over illegally...
As someone that's a dual citizen (USA/Germany) that was born in US, with over 20 years in the USA, with immediate fam in the US. Twice I've gone back over to Germany for a few months then got denied reentry to USA(both took over 3 months).
It's all about incentives. If the immigration agent lets someone in they shouldn't, they get in trouble. If the agent keeps someone out that deserves to be let in, that is someone else's problem.
It´s such a boss move... they go: "well you cant win, we wont pay you anything if you do" he goes: "I don´t care I´ll sue you anyways" .... Love him for that!

The crazy thing, the audience would claim that the villains are too unrealistic. Because in stories things always need to make sense, other wise the writer will be hit with "That doesn't make any sense" While in reality, fiction often makes more sense than reality. Especially things like government and politics.

The Government and politics only "doesn't make sense" on the purely literal definition, in that there is no rational thought going on in there.
Movies where the villains are just power-tripping shitheads who make other people's lives miserable just because they can DO exist in media just as much as real life. Movies where the villains are petty rich assholes who would tell a homeless man to "just buy a house" can be plenty realistic.
There is a way to out-maneuver disgruntled beurocrats in the US GOV.
1. Do research on all the laws, regulations, and forms needed for what you're doing.
2. Stay level-headed and polite while dealing with any representative.
3. Keep receipts of all interactions between yourself and the representative in question.
4. Nepotism on a large enough scale. Knowing the right higher-ups in GOV makes it a lot easier to whistle-blow without retaliation from the representative in question if they deny service for no reason.

Absolutely true! It took my brother's wife 19 months to get her fiance visa approved. She has been married for a year and still can't get a job because she is waiting for her papers to be processed. But then they had a friend that flew to Mexico, came across the border illegally, was caught, and is now being paid and getting his paperwork (for free) expedited and can already work.
Well let's hope that they don't flip the script and charge him with human smuggling/intentionally breaking(avoiding) immigration procedures. The gov lives that!

As someone who works on a gov software (no more details than that) that is likely a very similar workflow to what ICE uses, there's zero reason that you can't make the entire trace from start to finish, be auditable and explicitly REQUIRE accountability and stated (and/or categorized) reasoning for their decisions. Made available to the person submitting the request.
Yet it's never done. Because the executive officers know that it's a steaming pile of shit, and they know that they will get punished if they make it more visible, in order to root out the problems.
The system is so broken and corrupt...and with Charlie...it was a gaming tournament and he's got money to get lawyers and drag things out and fill out forms and do ALL that he had done. I keep thinking(and it's something Charlie pointed out in one of his angry videos) that there are regular people, who just want to get their family over and they don't have the money and resources to get best lawyers...or any lawyers. They don't have the resoruces to try for another type of Visa and fly someone to another country like Spain or Portugal or whatever for 'in-person interview'. and the system is so broken, that if someone is denied visa for no other reason than their skin color bc someone at the embassy is a bigot...then this person cannot even be sued nor be firied via lawsuit.
5 bucks is nothing. I was an illegal immigrant (brought to the USA as a child) trying to work my way up to citizenship. The path my mom chose takes so long. We paid thousands to just send our applications for working permits. Then paid again for Permanent residency. And I believe I have to pay again to just apply for citizenship in the future.
