I watched another channels 17 minute detailed explanation. My head was going to explode. This summed it up much easier. The longer video covers more "what if" so it has its place.
I played the original fireball island in the 90's when I was a kidm just found the revamped version at Barnes and nobles. Thank for the refresher on how to play.
Simple house rules for kids: only use movement cards; and only use the number, not actions. Every move can flick an ember. Cataclysms always use 4 fireballs, any rotations allowed. End game as usual, 3 snapshots + helipad.

I bought this game for the kids for Christmas this year and it is absolutely nothing like this. No snapshot cards no souvenir cards no maw no cataclysm tracker no helicopter...and completely different rules ?? WTF 😒
Did you buy the game from Target? They're selling a smaller, cheaper version at Target currently which doesn't include everything shown here, and unfortunately it isn't an obvious change if you're new to the game. It is a good cheap alternative for playing with kids, but if you want more depth, you should look for the original version online.
I never played this game but it looked relatively simple and fun. After this review though it looks a bit more complicated .. I highly doubt I could get anyone to play this with me lol
Seek out Fireball Race to Adventure. It is a mass market version for $30. It is smaller and has more simplified rules that is between this version and the MB original.
OKAY um 😐 I recently saw this in a Barnes and Nobel, the original game was from the 80’s so it made sense back then why it was so complicated, board games were the main entertainment, but why is the new version equally complicated. Not even in a good way it’s just too much to remember.
the answer to your question is simply that you're wrong. the original was NOT this complicated, not nearly. you just got the big ruby/gem and had to get of the island. the person who did that won. there were no points or any chance for others to escape with you. there were no rotating trees. a lot of the rules he mentioned here were simply not in the original game. so the new version isn't equally complicated, it's crazily over complicated beyond the original, which was much simpler by comparison.

The original didn’t have so much other crap going on. I quite enjoyed the original as a kid. This just irritates me.
