  • Hello everyone,
    I've done a full service on this lovely BMW R1150GS so I thought some videos would be helpful for someone. Initially I was intendint on making one video that contains everything, something which I might still do at the end, but while editing I've decided to split it into several videos.
    Hope you enjoyed it, thanks for watching and see you next time!

    Nice clear instructional video, but I must just mention that the Union Flag at the start is the wrong way round! (Upside down)

    I have an 1150 myself and I can't stress enough how important the coolant is. If it runs out it gets very hard to breathe.

    • @MrDosSantos991
      @MrDosSantos991 Рік тому +1

      The coolant is crucial believe me

      Sorry, what coolant, mine is a 2002 air cooled, i'm assuming the coolant thing is a mistake/joke? I just completed 17,500 kilometeres on mine around Europe, 1 x oil and filter change in Poland and again 1x oil and filter change in Italia, two new tyres, one front,Poland, and one rear in Croatia, Mitas EO7's, no other problems, bike now has over 170,000 kilomteres on odometer, Aussie bike now in storage in England for trip next year. Great bike, ultra reliable thus far.

      I live in Las Vegas and it's 116 degree Fahrenheit today. I'm not riding today, but tonight when it drops to only 96 degrees and I'm out riding; I'm sure glad to have refilled my coolant void.

    What is your choice of flavor when it comes to coolant? 😀I miss my old oilhead, it was always nice to work on it.

      It’s a special secret formula I produce myself in the garage. That’s why I didn’t film that bit. All I can say is that I produce it myself. Literally 😉

    Hi, great video on rear drive service. Does anyone make a socket with the cut out for re-torquing inside pin? Thanks!!

    • @garage_tales
      @garage_tales  2 роки тому

      Hi William. Not sure on that. I checked BMW once and they were selling it, but the price would blow your mind. I just made them myself (bought a halfords socket and milled the cout-out). If you can’t find one give me a shout and maybe we can work something out.

      @@garage_tales Hi, haven’t had any luck on finding one. One dealer friend of mine said he didn’t think BMW would have any since my GS is now almost a 20 year old bike. If you wanted to shoot me a price, I would buy one. Thanks!!

      Hi. When I checked it was from bmw Europe, but maybe it’s not available anymore. I’ll work out a fair price and let you know. I assumed you’re from uk?

      Hello. Thank you for your comment and apologies for taking so long to reply.
      Do you mean on the splines? My preference is Castrol Molub-alloy paste but also use other lithium-moly greases.

      BMW specify their own Staburag lube which is like a white paste. Apply it SPARINGLY using a toothbrush, for example, to the male and female spline surfaces after cleaning them thoroughly. Staburag is sold by reputable BMW service dealers in small plastic tubes or in small plastic tubs. BMW insists this is the only correct spline lubricant!🕊️
