Spin (Lindh) against flat hits (Jialiang). Besides from Waldner the beginning of the swedish success against the chinese flat hit counter players. There was more to come the year after with the swedish victory in team world chapionship final with 5-0 and Waldners victory in the individual mens singles competition. Of course the chinese by today has copied and improved this strategy, but this was an exciting beginning.
Koreans nowadays has a term for handling strong topspin they called it shota or traditional penhold backhand block.its nothing unusual.the Chinese is also using this in 70s and 80s why Chinese coach cannot solve it back then? simple penhold block can solve this attack as the Korean technique showed. What can you say?
@@titosarmiento8333 Smaller ball, young talented players, both left and right handed, two of the best players in history (Waldner/Persson), mentally strong and had detailed knowledge how to face the opponents by careful planning, improving the hungarian style with shorter strokes and therefore quicker change forehand/backhand. Know not to leave the table when facing backhand push, the story is in: ua-cam.com/video/dJqYv_SFxzE/v-deo.html. Waldner was also known of being almost impossible to read -hence the coaches focused on the other players in the team. Remember year 2000 old Waldner and Persson won WTTC again.
@@SuperHammaren thanks to video referred.staying close to the table topspin counter will solve flat smash of the Chinese.its good even the real swedish players were there making analysis.jia jianling really lost this game.weightling lifting i think add viciousness to their topspin with slight sidespin.by not doing Hungarian loop a tiring one. Instead a fast strong topspin close to the table rattled the Chinese. I just watched the clips now.jonyer loops won't be effective against the flat smashing Chinese once studied it well. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing this. My dad used to be Jiang's table tennis teacher when he was young.

Lindh beat Xie Saike as early as 1981 in singles at the WTTC.He struggled with injuries and never fulfilled his potential.
@@dickn.ormous1064 Fourth man in the team in 1989. But he was actually one of the 3 but dropped in form.
