The most beautiful tribute who George Michael could make to Freddie. This concert was celebrated in 1992 in memory of Freddie Mercury in which many guest artists performed. It was a fenomenal occasion with wonderful memories to me, great artists, great hearts, great humanity in that stadium, it was something unique like Freddie.
Goosebumps all over and tears in my eyes every time I hear and see this. Knowing that George Michael just heard that his great love Anselmo was diagnosed with aids and than sing this tribute to Freddie who just died of aids... So beautiful and touching. ❤️
George Michael said in an interview after the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert: I went there to honour Freddie and I had to pray for Anselmo. I just wanted to die inside. 😥 I was so overwhelmed by singing the songs of this man I have worshipped as a child who had passed away in the same manner as my first living partner was going to experience... 💔
I was there. I always tell people I scored a number 1 hit (together with 72,000+ others but hey, I sang my throat sore). A lot of artists sang at the Freddy Mercury Tribute, including Metallica, Guns n Roses, David Bowie, Elton John, Robert Plant (of Led Zeppelin), Annie Lennox and even Liza Minelli.
You ment Brian May, Dr astrophysicist (2008) and a knight = SIR BRIAN MAY (2022)... and yes a guitarist who made his electric 🎸with his dad when he was 16? The guitar is one of a kind and he named it Red Special. With it and a Deacky amp he can make all different sounds from horns to ....
Fantastic! I've watched this so many times and it gets me everytime. Had the absolute pleasure of seeing George Michael and Queen in concerts throughout the years and its fair to say they are pure talent .❤
George definitely stole the show with this song. Freddie said it was his favorite song of all the songs he wrote; even more so than Bo Rap. Check out the performance of this song live in Montreal 1981; it's outstanding. Then again Queen always is.

I was lucky to see George when he did his first ever live concert when he was in Wham when he first started. It was October the 9th 1983 in Aberdeen Scotland. It was the first night of the Club fantastic tour. I went with my cousin, her sister and her friend. I knew Whams music but wasn't a big fan. But when George started singing I couldn't believe how he was singing way better than on the records and had such a wonderful voice for someone who was just 20. He sang Careless Whisper for the first time ever at this show and for me it's the best bit of live singing I've had the pleasure to have seen live in all the concerts I've been to. So I'm proud to say I'm one of the first to ever hear it as it wasn't out till the summer of 1984. I think you should hear Queens original version of this song. Then you can tell just how amazing and wonderful Georges cover of it was and even dare I say it a bit better than Freddies version. George himself classed this as his best ever performance. And what makes this all the sadder is that Georges lover at the time was at the show and had just had a test for Aids. And they didn't know if he had it then. Sadly he did and died not long after. But George was still able even through sadness to steal the show with this wonderful performance. R.I.P George.
