59 years old here and all of my best days---ever... came with a spinnerbait in my hand...EVER!!❤ Spinnerbait...rules! Depending on conditions of course.
Congrats on your first keeper.. Kristine had a tough tournament out there too. that 20 3/4 is a pretty nice fish, 6 lb monster. What a difference a day makes. Happy for you John. Keep casting,
"blueberry struezel preservative" yum yum. lol. That 6 pounder was a nice fish. One thing I've noticed about you over the last couple years watching your vids..every strike "is a big one" lol. Just hilarious the way you respond when you set the hook....."ooh ooh big fish, big fish" and then in comes a 12" lol. I envy you. At my age (78) just can't do it anymore. Enjoy all you bring to the table. Very entertaining. As real as it can get. Totally honest. No pretense. Just a guy enjoying life doing what he enjoys. I'm probably not the only one here that is envious.
An experience I will never forget!! It was awesome to finally meet up and fish. It was truly amazing seeing you have that day 2 and catching bigs in the river!!!!
Awesome Sauce Brother!! Very proud of your accomplishments in this tournament. Didn't quit and look what happened day 2. Faith always makes you shine and your Creek fishing knowledge! Thanks again and God Bless!!
Great decision to just go explore and enjoy the day John. Solid and respectable finish for the championship. We love to see you just plugging away..sticking with it. Blessings brother. Have a great Easter
What a turn around man. That's crazy. You live and you learn like you said. That water coming out of the hill on Day 1 was awesome. I've never seen that. Awesome video man.
Holy Crap, I live less than 1/2 mile from that house yall were staying in! lol It definitely has a hell of a view. So does the blue house across the street. There's a nice creek that comes in just up river from the boat ramp that holds some nice smallies.
Well John... your PB best tournament day bag.. even if you didn't win the tournament, that's a win!!! Top 50 is great! I was so excited for you I just bought one of your autographed hats! Been wanting to do that for awhile, but this was my way of celebrating your PB bag with you. Looks like you had a fun couple of days. ...wait.. ..what.. no Jimmy Houston? ...Blessings!
JOHN, this was a great video and I loved how you went out there the second day and stuck to your roots and had a big day. Awesome video!!!!! God Bless and GO KATS!!!!!!!
That was awesome John! I'm so glad you had a great day on Tenkiller. The further you go up that river, it turns into a fantastic smallmouth fishery. I know some good wade fishing spots up there. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it.
I lived in Oklahoma for 20 years. Great fishing. Stripers are really good....below ten killer, throughout the Arkansas River, downtown Tulsa is great striper and spoon bill fishing.
Iv been waiting forever for this video!! It’s finally here!! Always put a smile on my face when I see you release a new one! Not quite warm enough to go out fishing in Ohio yet.
Love the come back ! I was getting ready excited and getting amped up watching your second day awesome job not giving up after day one that’s a hard thing to do after a rough day on the water I struggle with it here in Maryland in my first full tournament season
This video rocked. Im in NC and I'm cutting out at 1pm to hit the water. 70 deg today and water temps should be tickling 60 deg in the lakes I fish the most. Gear is ready to go and the boat is already hooked up 🎣
The reason why you lost those two big bass is because the way you fought them. Spinner bait is my favorite bass lure to use. You need to stop pulling upwards on those bass. As soon as you set the hook, your rod needs to go back down so the fish won't jump. Let the bass fight so that it dont jump. Spinner bait are usually heavy so as soon as the bass jump and shake their heads, you're most likely to lose them. But what a great time you had!! 💪🔥
@stevehershberger2672 I like to use a keitech on most of my spinner bait. I feel like a trailer hook is only good if it's just a spinner bait without a trailer. But yeah, I think he should've use a trailer hook.
I live about 15 miles from tenkiller just a few minutes away from the river upstream from the lake. Ive fished a few of those spots you were in but I haven't been able to ih as much this year. Last time I was down in that area, I dropped a small tackle bag off my kayak that had a lot of my favorite lures in it. 😅 That kinda muddy shallow area upstream where you got that big one on day 2 is great Ive caught some monsters out there
Tenkiller is amazing dude! I like to fish up terrapin creek, Carlisle cove, and turkey bluff! Awesome to be able and have a lake just over the Oklahoma border where you can catch big smallies, spots, and largemouth!
After two or three fish I always sharpen the hook (s), even if they feel sharp. Just a thought and it takes less than 5 seconds. Great day two and great video. Congratulations.
That was a beautiful river. So peaceful. Congrats on the tourney. By golly, I think yer getting the hang of this fishing thing, lol. Best of luck on the next one. Gotta go buy a creek fishing cap now 🙂
What a difference a day makes. Think there's a song by that title. We applied to fishing today. If you had some of those extra on the 1st day. You could have been up there quite A ways john. Congratulations fantastic job. Nice video too!
Good job man and great video. I had a few buddies from down from Canada to fish the tournament, one of them has a killer day on day 2 with an massive 95" . I look forward to watch more of your content.
The Mountain Fork is great for smallest but the Glover is just to the west of Broken Bow and it is much better for smallmouth. Check it out next time. Hello from Copperhill.
If you’re ever back in the area, you should kayak down the lower Illinois below the dam. We float it several times every summer and catch lots of trout and striper.
John I am going to tell you a couple things that I know. Fist thing I never want to fish against you in a creek. Secondly I never want to fish against you in a river. Back when I bass fished I used to love to fish the rivers because that’s where I’m at home. And that’s you as well. If you can get on a river you are most always gonna do good.
;;;NEVER EVER EVER EVER underestimate the spinnerbait. Hands down the greatest bass catching lure ever invented. Great job.
A spinnerbait is a good lure for sure. My personal opinion is the plastic worm takes the prize.
I feel like if I had to pick one "greatest" it would be a senko or other stick style bait. But the spinnerbait is goated.
59 years old here and all of my best days---ever... came with a spinnerbait in my hand...EVER!!❤ Spinnerbait...rules! Depending on conditions of course.
13:23 a fish blew up in the background of the camera when you caught that big bass
Yeah I saw that too...he should have thrown another lure back over there next to the bank fast.
Same here. Looked like a good fish.
oh yeah it was actually a beaver, i meant to slow it down and zoom in over on it
I was yelling at my laptop; throw back in there! :)
You live and you learn “Just keep on Fishing” Great quote
Congrats on your first keeper.. Kristine had a tough tournament out there too. that 20 3/4 is a pretty nice fish, 6 lb monster. What a difference a day makes. Happy for you John. Keep casting,
You’re killin me, Smalls…🤦🏻♀️
I’m screaming at the screen, “measure the fish! Ya got 7 minutes left!”
😂
Those two bass in the same place were probably a breeding pair. Not quite yet full spawn but thinking about it
I’m an Okie and I grew up fishing Tenkiller and the Illinois River and still do. Glad to see you enjoyed it. Northeast OK is a beautiful area
Same

Coming back down
Birds 🐦 were great seemed peaceful, and perfect current up till the end...people don't realize all the LEG WORK it takes.
It looks like so much fun to be floating down the river fishing. I have never been in a kayak in my 69 years , I love creeks and I love fishing.❤
You are so down to earth, which is why I watch your videos.
An experience I will never forget!! It was awesome to finally meet up and fish. It was truly amazing seeing you have that day 2 and catching bigs in the river!!!!

Glad to see you go from frustrated to very happy and truly proven you are the river fisherman
That’s awesome you didn’t give up and great job placing where you did. 49th out of 164 is pretty impressive.
So glad to see things come together for you on day 2! Great job!
That is awesome John!! So proud of you. I have learned so much from your channel. Thank You!!
Great day 2 John! Amazing video! I wish we had these kind of competitions on this side of the pond.
Holy Crap, I live less than 1/2 mile from that house yall were staying in! lol It definitely has a hell of a view. So does the blue house across the street. There's a nice creek that comes in just up river from the boat ramp that holds some nice smallies.

Way to go, John knew you could pull things together. Can't keep a creek guy down
Hi calvin from Chicago Il. fantastic come back. I love it when you make that sound ooh ooh ooh oooh.
Nice work John! I really enjoyed watching your second day on Tenkiller :)
Great video man! It’s huge to even get in and compete at that level let alone have a day like your day 2! Well done man!
Tenkiller is amazing dude! I like to fish up terrapin creek, Carlisle cove, and turkey bluff! Awesome to be able and have a lake just over the Oklahoma border where you can catch big smallies, spots, and largemouth!
I'm going to the lower Illinois river pretty soon in a yak just south of this lake. I'm glad I came across this video beforehand.
The life preserver saved you when that stick jumped at you! I always wonder when mine will come in handy. LOL
haha, always wear it
Great tournament! The creeks are where it’s at! It’d be fun to fish with you, Josh and Alex next time you’re up near our area.
Congrats to you and Drew
Amazing job John!
Atta boy, thanks for sharing and have a Blessed Day!

One of my favorite channels!
After two or three fish I always sharpen the hook (s), even if they feel sharp. Just a thought and it takes less than 5 seconds. Great day two and great video. Congratulations.
Looked like a great trip, other than the short first day.
Great job against some tough competition!
It’s amazing the difference a day makes. From low to high!
That was a beautiful river. So peaceful. Congrats on the tourney. By golly, I think yer getting the hang of this fishing thing, lol. Best of luck on the next one. Gotta go buy a creek fishing cap now 🙂
Great job especially the way you recovered on day 2
That lake looked so cool by looking at all the pics!!! Gotta get out there one day but it's a heck of a long way from Southwest Virginia!!!
That was a great second day. Enjoyed it so much
What a difference a day makes. Think there's a song by that title. We applied to fishing today. If you had some of those extra on the 1st day.
You could have been up there quite A ways john. Congratulations fantastic job. Nice video too!
Awesome video great work, congratulations on a kick ass second day 🤩
Way to bounce back, incredible day 2. I am in a nice little skunk streak but always keep your line in the water (stick on the ice)
Good job man and great video. I had a few buddies from down from Canada to fish the tournament, one of them has a killer day on day 2 with an massive 95" . I look forward to watch more of your content.

LOVE SPINER BAITE IN THE FALL ROLLING COLSE TO THE BANK TREE TOPS
Great comeback Dude! Looked like a Blast.
Congratulations on your tournament great video 👍💪💪
Glad to see it bro! Hell I still get skunked going after trout and bass.
Those spinner baits are killers in the late winter and early spring.
NEVER GIVE UP!
The Mountain Fork is great for smallest but the Glover is just to the west of Broken Bow and it is much better for smallmouth. Check it out next time. Hello from Copperhill.
Awesome second day nice catch! Those sticks at the ramp are kinda sneaky though 👍
Been looking forward to this one!
Congratulations 🎣👍
great video. great second day, nice move up. stay safe.
I grew up at Lake Tenkiller great place, great memories
3.9 ...4 ponder lol😂😂😂
Tight lines man!
Great tourney John! 🤘
Haha that’s awesome, I went the opposite way! I went from 6th on day one to 81st on day 2. awesome experience none the less!
oh no man, thats hurts! Just being able to make the tournament is still great experiance
If you’re ever back in the area, you should kayak down the lower Illinois below the dam. We float it several times every summer and catch lots of trout and striper.
that sounds fun
Seems like you relaxed more second day which allowed you to throw more naturally. Great job
Great job, you stayed with it. Keep up the good work. And I would stay, you can catch fish.
Great video I know you didn't win but you made a good come back wish you the best of luck in your next tournament thank you john
I love that lake. There aren’t a huge number of places in Oklahoma where you can regularly catch smallies. That lake and river are a lot of fun.
I like them all, well, maybe not the pan fish ones so much. 😂 But these tournament ones are by far my favorite. Another great video!
Almost time for some shoalie creek adventures!
Wow what an awesome climb up to top 50. I pray for a top 5 like you had on day 2😂 congratulations
Great job
And oh he went down hard on the boat ramp hahaha
Never give up🤜🤛
Wow, what a good day. They don’t come along very often.
Great lesson for fishing folks to remember: there's always tomorrow
I’ve commented the same before, but I love the tournament videos. Great job!
thanks
Happy Easter
Awesome video
wild time
