  • "Nobody Lied" played by the Virginians; Victor 18913-A, take 5 (10"). Acoustically recorded in New York on 2 June 1922.
    Personnel:
    Ross Gorman: clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, director.
    Henry Busse: cornet.
    Sam Lewis: trombone.
    Hale Byers: alto saxophone, flute.
    Ferde Grofé: piano, arranger.
    Mike Pingitore: banjo.
    Jack Barsby: brass bass.
    Harold MacDonald: drums.
    Played with a Burmese Colour Needle on a gramophone with a homemade 80 Hz exponential horn, Victor Orthophonic soundbox, and HMV swan-neck tone-arm, currently in a prototype cabinet.

    This is awesome! Once I have the space for it, I'd love to get a setup like this and play some classics.
    Nothing beats the hiss and crackle of an old vinyl!
