I’ve only just got round to watching this, and you’re absolutely right. My fave was when the guy asked the “off topic” question about who Robert would move from the LOTR world to ASOIAF world, and Robert lit up a bit. Just from his face (and his last video) I knew what his answer was.

I only watch Robert for glimpses of Dan the dog lol. Obviously kidding though it's a nice bonus. Robert is my go to for his terrific analysis backed by textual evidence not just opinion or what he would like to see happen. He has an understanding of GRRM and his writing that is hard to beat. I love gray and Lml too definitely my top three!

Does Myrcella have to become a ruler to fulfill Maggie the Frog's prophecy: I always took Maggie's words "Gold shall be their crowns" as pointing toward the fact that all Cersei's children have blond hair though Robert Baratheon seems to always have black haired children.

Being from N Ireland and having worked on the show for a season and can honestly say . There has never been as show has had such a rise and fall from popular consciousness as GOT .I think that finale really did a lot of harm and people were totally soured by this and turned there backs on it!

agreed, marg is criminally underrated. i'll forever be disappointed by her demise, but i'm grateful that at the very least she got to go out with a bang and died as she lived: being the smartest person in the room.
When you look at the idea of Northern houses lining up behind Bran or Jon when Robb's will is read, you can definitely see how some might favor Jon as older and being a trained soldier with command experience over a child (Bran is much younger in the books).

Pretty sure the three queens Little Finger is referring to are Cersi, Margery, and Danaerys. Little Finger spoke of the three queens as a potential complication to his plans. Sansa is not a complication to his plans, she is the key to his plans. Cersi and Margery are the only two queens currently acknowledged in Westeros, so he was definitely referring to the two of them. As for Danaerys, Little Finger has been keeping tabs on her since before she married Drogo, it only makes sense he would've continued to do so. So he's definitely aware of her rise to power in Slavers Bay. The fact that Dany is stronger than ever and her enemies in Westeros are weaker than ever makes her return merely a matter of time. Someone as clever and well informed as Little Finger will have already drawn this conclusion.

A side note Robert you mentioned that the Valerians experimented with genetics and as a result Targs have some dragon blood. Is it possible the dragons also have human blood? This could be an explanation for their intelligence which some say exceeds the intelligence of man

@cogitoergo i agree it would be redundant to have daenerys to go mad because we do have cersei already and it does t really subvert expectations to have her be just like her dad. Also its just another Targaryen stereotype that all Targaryens are mad.

Well done to Robert for another great discussion. The Discworld novel by Sir Terry Pratchett, inspired by the painting 'Night Watch' was called Night Watch. It's a very good book, and I'd recommend you read it. It has no rangers defending a wall of ice at the edge of the world, instead it features the Night Watchmen of the ancient and corrupt city of Ankh-Morpork (like King's Landing, only with legalised crime and a worse smell).
Night Watch stars Samuel Vimes, commander of the City Watch, who is attempting to capture the murderous criminal Carcer Dun (a man much like Ramsey Bolton, only lacking his restraint and good nature). Thrown 30 years back in time, Vimes finds himself trapped in the past, facing ghosts of his own past. The city stands poised on the bring of revolution, and he must take commander of the demoralise men of the Night Watch and try to change history for the better, while trying to avoid The Secret Police, the Agony Aunts, and Carcer, who is thriving in this new world, having committed murder within moments of his arrival. Carcer really is a wonderful villain, a smiling man, who would stand there, the blood dripping off his knife, and say 'what? haha, what's all the fuss about?' as if you don't get the joke. (oh, and he usually has a spare knife too...)
Vimes' view on Carcer is that while some people might have a devil on one shoulder, and an angel of the other, Carcer instead has a devil on both shoulders, in competition with each other.

The thing about Jaherys is he was balanced. He knew when to negotiate, when the threaten, how to appeal to the people when needed, etc. No one gets it right every time, but he knew that you can be neither a tyrant, nor a pushover.

Re Maggie the frog prophesy about Cersei’s children: “ gold will be their crowns and gold will be their shrouds”. Isn’t crown sometimes used as a poetic way of talking about hair? I never thought about it meaning that all 3 will become kings/queens before they die…. Interesting take….Would love to see Queen Marcella…
"Golden their Crowns and Golden their shrouds" doesn't say they'll be Kings/Queens. Yes, it's implied but golden crowns could (as you say) just be their hair and golden shrouds could just mean they'll get noble burials (let's face it, Cersei would go all out if she had the chance to give them the noblest burial she could). You have to check the actual words and not go with what it SEEMS to imply.
Margary haven't ruled actually just did tours among the common people she didn't have to make hard decisions and compromise like dany

That Little Finger line about how he hoped he'd have 3 or 5 years to hatch more schemes sounds to me like a meta commentary by GRRM about how his story evolved in ways that forced him to reconsider his 5 year gap plan.
Cersei is going to kill the most beloved person in King's Landing by blowing up the heart of its primary religion. Then, she is going to oppose fAegon, who will be very popular and have the backing of Highgarden, which has been sending food to the city. She's going to be insanely unpopular.
Sorry I missed the live stream I do have a question. Two actually could Little Finger have been talking about The Queen of thrones as one the three queens yes Margery is Queen but doesn't Olena have more power.

My favourite Queen of Westeros is Little finger.
Every morning when I wake up, I ask myself "What would Cersei do?"
The Rembrandt painting is actually not called “Night Watch” anymore. It got restored and is now called “The Shooting Company of Colonel Frans Banning Cocq.”
If Cersi blows up the Sept of Baelor (which I doubt) I don't think it will be some Godfather style coordinated strike that will eliminate all of Cersi's enemies in one fell swoop. That would require a level of patience and tactical brilliance that is beyond Cersi. The whole point of her AFFC storyline was to show what an inept ruler she actually is. Without a real player like Tywin, Tyrion, or Little Finger to do the heavy lifting she falls on her face every time. Every scheme she hatched in AFFC backfired. She may set fire to the city Mad King style once she realizes Young Griff is coming to run her out of town.
I wish Margaery and Cersei had a scene together in series 6. Maybe where Margaery is all ‘religious’ and is overly nice to Cersei, who has to bow to the Queen, seeing Margaery all humbly dressed and with Septa Unella.
The difference is between "Queen Consort" and "Queen Regnant". Queen Consort is simply the wife of a king. They have no official power have no role once their husband dies outside of their influence within the family. Dowager Queen is the usual title, although Elizabeth II's was referred to as the "Queen Mother". Queen Regnant is an actual ruling queen. They inherit the throne through the same ways other heirs are named. However, they are less common due to male preference primogeniture.
With the Targareyeans it could be a bit more confusing due to the incest. The queens could be in the line of succession, but usually they stuck to the male line wherever possible. It's why there's no way Cersei in the show could be queen once her children died. Technically, with Stannis dead, it should have passed to the closest Baratheon cousin/uncle/etc.

The Three queens that Littlefinger mentions is interesting and not something that I have thought about. To me, because he says it in relation to the five kings, I feel that the queens need come from those "kings."
I think Cersei and Margaery and easy picks, they are the two with the most power at the moment and certainly are capable of creating chaos.
Because I think the three queens are related to the five kings, that rules out Sansa and Danerys.
It leaves us Jeyne Westerling and Selyse Baratheon. Those are both very interesting. We don't really know what is going on with Jeyne right now. However, if there is anything beyond what we are told, it stands to reason that Littlefinger at least knows about it, or may even be involved in whatever she is doing at the current time.
Selyse herself doesn't seem to be the cause of much chaos, but the religion that she has converted to certainly is a possibility. A fairly new God to Westeros is bound to cause chaos in a country that is pretty homogeneous when it comes to religion.
I want it to be Jeyne, I'm not sure why, but my tinfoil heart just wants something to happen with her. A swap, a baby, a claim, I just don't want her to get locked into a room at her mom's house and never be heard from again.
My guess though is that it is Selyse. Nothing stirs people up quite so much as religion. And R'hllor, specifically the version of him as seen by Melisandre can only cause chaos.

Is it possible the Night's Queen will come back in the books and be the Night King role we saw in the show?
Regarding the Night's Queen, maybe it's as simple as the Others having a similar social system as humans. We've mostly just seen the army, which is mostly, if not all male. Maybe they have females who stay behind, just like with most Medieval societies.
However, if the Night's King was a Stark, then by marrying him wouldn't she be a Stark? Where to Stark spouses get buried?

You could round up the greatest warriors from Essos and Westeros there could be discussion on who was the best fighter as well as a deeper analysis of the extent to which the reputation of certain people may exceed their true abilities.
Have you read Ben Aaronovitch's 'Rivers of London' series (novels, graphic novels, novellas and short stories)? I'd be interested to hear what you think about the unrevealed elements. If you haven't read them then I highly recommend them. (Aaronovitch used to write for Doctor Who).
