Enduro Sendero SE - A NEW Budget Truck that Surprised Me!

- Element builds on their original Enduro Sendero with a whole new truck! The Sendero SE has very few carry-overs from the original, yet remains compatible! A new transmission, axles, body, tires, wheels, and radio make this a compelling budget option. I was surprised by the amount of stuff they packed into the price, and I think you will be too.

I applaud this marketing by Element. Anything that helps promote the hobby and gets more people interested is a fantastic idea. Yeah, those of us knee deep into the hobby can nitpick but overall, this is a great set up on a budget. Also leaves options for down the road for upgrades that appear on the surface to again be geared toward someone new to the hobby.
Agreed!
Now we need a budget shoot out, Element Enduro Senduro Sport Edition, Traxxas TRX4 Sport and Axial SCX10-3 Base Camp.
Great base for a custom build. Love the transmission and the SOA. At $299.00, homerun! 😎
I haven't been excited by too many new releases lately, but this looks like a cool update for Element. I'm excited to see how they update the other offerings and if there will be a new builders kit based on the new transmission and axles. I really appreciate the backward compatibility for any of us that want to update our Element based rigs
I use self adhesive felt to line inside my body shells. It stops all the rattling and absorbs most of the noises.
Use WD-40 to get adhesive off. It works and doesn’t damage anything. It also works pretty good to get paint off of your Automobile when you get paint from someone else’s car when you get those accidents from people who bump their doors into your car in a parking lot.
Wow...the chassis is working really great! The body....well, you can work on it with some details!
"I am not a fan of this tire tread pattern" - How DARE you! I love the pattern regardless of how functional it is! The new Enduro12 has "normal" tires, so I hope you are happy, sir!
I love that a company is focusing on getting more people involved in the hobby by offering a capable rig at a very reasonable price. Aside from wheels and tires and maybe even a set of metal links, she looks like a solid performer straight from the box. I dig it. :)
Definitely!
I’m getting some full sized Pinseekers for my Passat! 😉😁 Great and detailed overview!
Wow, when you pulled the body off at 4:55 I would swear I was looking at a Vanquish truck, Nice!
The element trailrunner is one of my favorites. Such a great rig. Hoping element continues to grow
No shame in bushings, it's not a race truck. I really dig releases like this. Foot in the door to crawlers with room for upgrades or a buddy truck.
I love how the trans separates top and bottom. I look forward to seeing it in person. It seems like easy maintenance/ gear (od) swap in chassis if wanted.
My brother just got one tonight. I’ve been working on it doing a few little free mods including the 6% overdrive I had from my Ecto and I will say. I love the new transmission 100%. Kinda wish it was the same in the Ecto. From what I noticed they left a lot of room in the transmission for other options so hopefully good things to come!!
Amazing. Affordable. Please tell them to offer the IFS kits again. I need two of them for my M12B project. I don't even care about the bumpsteer.
Also this thing looks pretty amazing, reminds me a lot of what the SCX 10.2 was like originally. Cheap, cheerful and excessively modifiable.
Edit : Four link front n' rear? Neat! Also you didn't mention the brake disks!
Or the options to but weight inside the diff covers
I love how this truck looks with the grey paintjob, definitely on my shortlist for this budget👍
Definitely going to be my next rig!!
Yepp.
I think element really hit a mark here.
I think there is even room for a comp build.
Axles look great, and I like that transmission.
I will always love axial.
But element is really becoming the a leader.
I like it.
Great video.
Still enjoying my Trailwalker, it has held up with no problems. Element offers quality rigs.
Any chance of them making a builders kit? Maybe with metal links and bearings, minus their electronics and wheels and tires?
Maybe that will be an option in the future!
Matt, the injection-molded body parts and grill from the original Sendero are 100% compatible with this body. So, if someone wanted that extra detail on the body, the plastics can be purchased separately and installed.
Good tip, thanks!
First TRX4M knocks out SCX24, Now Sendero SE is the Basecamp killer! Almost 24% cheaper. What will axial do next, Different body on scx10ii? lol Oh wait they just did another deadbolt. Nice review!
Ehhhh “Basecamp killer?” I’ll give it to them in the new transmission; anything Team Associated builds in terms of transmissions are always top notch. But the Basecamps seems like a whole heck of a lot more truck for just $90 more.
@@jonathanfletcher97 haha! I actually have 2 SCX10II & 1 Basecamp. All good stuff. Just harassing Axial😂. I’m just jealous I cant afford a SCX6🫣
@@goreyboggs right dude?! Life would be sweet if that rig was just a TAD less painful on the ol bank account.
I wish Element still sold the ifs conversion kit
Like that they didn't go with portal axles. Looking forward to seeing how you make this one your own!
Just picked up another Gen8 for $254 on sale from Redcat... I personally still think its likely the best crawler deal considering all the features it has.
I'm not a huge fan of the Redcat, but I'm glad that you like it! Thanks for watching!
This looks awesome, I already own 3 element trucks and looking at this I may end up with 4.
Element have quickly become my favourite brand in RC.
This was great. The only thing that I could think that would make this better is if they ran it driving backwards.
I’d like to see more rtr’s with bushings. Keeps the price down which is nice.
The gen8 is still a better choice for a first rig because it is soooooo adjustable...but I'm still getting one because it's new and awesome!
I think it's a good price point to enter the hobby. The prices have slowly creeped up over the last few years even for what was considered beginner / entry level crawlers. I like the new one piece body and I don't mind the narrow tires, the tread ... maybe it'll grow on me. It's good that they kept it compatible with many of the other parts they offer which is a good platform to build up. This may be the kit that gets me into the crawling scene.
Welcome to crawling!
Awesome video. Seeing that price point along with clear windows and inner fenders, they did their research 👍. Also the tires remind me (from a distance) of the ripsaws from axial back in the day
Servo on axle from the factory, love to see it. I’m glad element isn’t afraid to get away from the scale aspect. But I think they’re long overdue for some portal axles. Make it happen element.
im so happy the body is one piece the two drove me mad on the trail, so damn noisy, great stuff mate.
This would be a good one for another budget build off!
I don't need another 1/10 crawler but that price point makes it very tempting.
I have the original sendero, but I’m definitely going to check this one out, I’m thinking the light weight might make it quite good to give it a little more speed, up till now I have only driven a crawler like it was borrowed and I’m being watched by the owner. 😂
Thanks Matt. I like the Element Enduro platform. I had a reversed Stealth X with a forward mounted motor set up at Nationals, don't remember if I showed it to you. I did show it to John. 🤣This skid and transmission set up looks great. I would like to put it in my old Trailwalker. Also like the wheels, not bad for plastic and I'm a wheel snob! Thanks again for the review.
The holes are in the bumpers to simulate Dimple dyes like 1:1 rigs use
Brilliant looking truck. The tread pattern on the tires is rather goofy. Proline Interco TrXus tires would look good on this truck. Nothing wrong with bushings in a trail truck. I'll probably pick one of these up in the future.
I think Element did a great job on evolving the platform. You can guarantee this is just the first offering. I have no doubts we'll see models with better links and metal shock bodies. Hopefully a builders kit as well. I was a little disappointed that they didn't go portal but overall its a great new offering that looks to be a performer.
These axles need to be the basis of the Builders Kit 3.
I like this. I hate servicing bearings. Pack some marine grease and forget about it. Think this is my next purchase. Just got the knight runner and looking to upgrade my fleet. Thinking of giving one or two of my trucks away to a couple kids in the neighborhood. They always come out when I run my older trucks. Lol gives me a reason to upgrade a Scx10.
Well done @ $299 for RTR. Nice job Element.
Why are the wheels not centred particularly bad in the rear, and no way to adjust as nonadjustable links fitted.
It looks like a nice new truck with good solutions to keep the price down but still deliver a decent experience for new guys. If I had the money I'd consider it just to have one to lend to friends
Great deal. I really like the Enduro platform.
Nice release from Element here. I picked up the Sendero HD for my first 1:10 scale and have been loving it. Was able to find an interior that fit (with the Bruiser driver) and have had fun making it my own with accessories in the utility bed. Going with a hunting theme and considering doing a camo paint job to it....just not sure if it's better to try and remove the factory paint or just spray paint the outside.
Looks like a nice class 1 platform.
I like it . Think the shocks seem to work really well , and looks easy to work on. Another win for them I'm sure.
Wonderful display and presentation of a slick truck
Great entry level truck for the money to get into the hobby. Nice to see the detailed clear windows. A Traxxas Blazer grill might fit it. My first entry level was the Carisma Coyote still going strong.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is super exciting to see from element! What a great offering from such an evolving design…Thanks for keeping us up2date on the coolest most sweet hobby that everyone should be doing!
Thanks for watching!
They did a killer job updating the enduro platform, i will finally have to pick up my first element truck although i have been running the element ifs and stealthx trans in a few builds.
Inner Fenders on a $299 truck!... now that is very, very nice to see.
I anything that will help draw people into the sport. I am all for. To me it was definitely designed after a kid or a younger person enjoying playing in the water with all those bushings. They will be just fine.
I normally agree with liking tyres to look like real tyres, but I’m really loving the look of those pin seekers and wheels 😍
I just like all of the Element stuff, Associated has always made nice things. I had a Trailwalker that I kinda wish I’d kept and I have a Trailrunner still. Ecto, Bushido, this, they’re all just different enough and generally cheap enough to make me want them.
Finally front steering link I sold my gatekeeper because of the behind the axle turning ratio was terrible hope this is better
Likes for the elements.. element cut shot
So with the bigger spring shock cups maybe you can run it as a dual rate with the larger spring outside of the pen portion. I’m crushing 😍 hard on this rig. I’ve always been a fan of associated this is great look for the body bumpers wheels and thank God for skinny tires those wheels look great. Thanks for the review and I personally like body pins reminds me of the old rc10 gold pans I would see randomly as a kid!!
Thanks for watching!
They should offer it as a roller cause all those electronics are going in the spare parts bin. 😁
Yikes!
Excellent review as always. I think the truck looks really great. Sometimes I think it’s quit satisfying to have a simple basic truck. Interesting listening to people’s thoughts on bushings, personally I think they will be better than bearings because they do not rust and seize up.
Totally agree! There are differing opinions on bearings vs. bushings. I tend to think of bushings as great options for kids and newbies!
That flysky transmitter looks like the second version of the axial scx24 transmitter, but with more channels...
These is a lot here I like and nothing to hate.
Looks like a great first truck!
It even has some opportunities to get into modding, CMS conversion, making your own metal links.
It reminds me of the SCX10 Honcho that got me into crawlers 10 years ago, modded the hell out of that thing.
The only thing I don’t get is why the battery isn’t further forward.
I agree... it's a great first truck!
Let’s hope the new axles have the option for OD gears
If my son didn't already have the TRX4 Sport, this would definitely be a consideration. Personally I think it's a good looking truck!
Great review and excellent running footage, thanks for sharing! I’m all for more options in the market, especially entry-level to allow more people to get in on the fun. 👍✌️
Awesome Matt. Thanks
I can see myself getting one of these, I own axial products now and would love the base camp except it has portal axles, with this one I like all but the tires and lack of exterior parts
As always. I appreciate the detailed overview and always love seeing the footage of it at the end. Thanks for the video 🙏🏽🤙🏽
Thanks for watching!
this makes me wonder if they are gonna have a v2 ifs, considering the upgrade kit was discontinued, i would love to have a v2 with things fixed, been procrastinating the rebuild on mine after running it for months on end, the new tires look like they will be good in mud
Great Price Point ! Will be picking this up ! Awesome Review
Thanks for watching!
element killed it for its price. links are an easy and fairly cheap upgrade and the bushings are a win in my book. something ive wanted for a rig used in water and mud for a while now. built in soa is another win, seen too many people want to do that on the original. tires are another cheap upgrade and since they dont glue their wheels its cheap to get a great set of prolines. looks like ive got a new beginner rig to recommend to people
Agreed! I'm totally adding this to my beginner rig list to recommend. Thanks for watching!
Love it, backwards compatible is a great thing. But with the SOA being there I wish they had an Ekto or other narrow "performance crawling" body for those that want to modify the base in that direction instead of scale without having to re-body. There aren't a lot of narrow or tapered Cliffhanger style bodies available for the 12.8 wheelbase, and bodies aren't inexpensive.
I think Element did a spectacular job on this truck. For a base model rig, it’s got enough goods and design thought into it to make it a winner. Everyone wants to fix up their trucks, so why spend more? I feel this will be the truck I point people to when they are looking for a budget rig.
Agreed! Thanks for watching!
I have the original grey one so I'll probably pick up this body for it, here in the UK you can buy the HD sendero for £300 so this looks quite expensive in comparison. Still looks good though and perfect to get into the hobby.
SHARP!
I like that the body not only resembles a square body Chevy but a square body Dodge and a square body Ford including the grill. Is it an AMC but not a j series?
No a bad deal, I actually like the tires & wheels. I just got some SCX24 Broncos for my nephew and I, this might be his next truck since he is new. 👍
It's a great starter rig, that's for sure. And with the bushings instead of bearings, it will be great.
I like this and also want a premium but original looking Sendero
Element R/C has another
Winner in this new RTR crawler! Definitely one of the best Bang 4 Your Buck trail crawlers! Nice job Element R/C!!!! 😆
i like the window😊👍👍👍
Now do the inner finder liners work on the rear also and work on the v1 line
Not sure!
I do like that one.
Now if they make this a builder kit, the price would be even greater.
Maybe a bare builders kit, and then a builders kit with all the electronics. That would be a first for scale truck I'm imagne.
If i was mine I think I would have replaced the bushings with bearings, replaced the tires and moved the servo to the frame and make new links myself. I bet that would have lasted a long time.
The more I build and drive trail trucks the more I prefer servo on axle. It’s easy enough to cover up and performs so much better
That transmission looks incredible; and I’m sure it is since it’s from the lovely people over at Team Associated. However, I can see people outgrowing this rig relatively quickly. For $90 more you get a Basecamp, which in my opinion anyway, is a whole heck of a lot more truck out to the box.
Curious why you say the Base Camp is a lot more truck? I ask because I'm considering it (or this new Sendero) as a Sportsman Class build.
Not sure how you see the Basecamp as a better truck.
$90 isn’t nothing
@@mitsuman5555 I'd agree when, at least in my case, I'd toss the stock electronics and replace it with a Fusion Pro.
@@robgoffroad it’s not any better of a truck, not sure why this has so many likes. The only downside I see on the senduro is the plastic links, but those can easily be replaced. I think it will be a better performer than the basecamp. Comes stock with servo on axle and foward mounted motor. Get get a smaller battery and mount it up front, And it’ll do anything if not more than the basecamp.
I like it and entry level truck I agree. It certainly fits my cheap skate spending. Good video Matt.
Thanks!
You should review the redcat gen 8 v2 and compare against this
Element enduro sendero sport edition. The EESSE!!!
Looks solid. Those "San Andreas" looking stickers tho. Any chance those bumpers would fit the base camp? Really digging those.
I think Element kept the same bumper pattern, but you'd have to check though!
Great review, Matt. Lots of interesting Associated design decisions to consider. I am not a fan of that tread pattern either. LOL. Seems to me function should go before aesthetics, on something as important as gripping the ground so you don't, say, roll thirty feet down a slope into the creek. Other than that, lots of room for debate.
This will be a game changer at the RTR Trail Truck market .Best Truck for the buck.Metall bushings are a big plus for real offroad Truckers ! I pay more for wear out bearings on my trucks than on any other parts!
Agreed, it's also great for kids.
It looks good visually like too see a more in-depth view on the axles and transmission plus conversion to 3 link with panhard and what it takes also just wonder will it bind to gt5 radio
Those bushing I bet will shine for those who like water and mud. Especially for kids, honestly seems like a smart choice. Are the bushings brass or plastic?
They're brass! Agreed, for kids or newbies, this is a smart choice. Thanks for watching!
I'm liking the transmission and new axles. Not a fan of servo on axle. Inner fenders are nice. Could of come with an interior cover. I'm sure element will just build on this platform. All in all I do like it.
Well done fella
Decent budget rig, I think aluminum or steel links would have been the way to go, plastic links just isn't acceptable. But the truck looks good, ive always like this simple body.
15:52 👍Really nice review on on this I the in-depth details . Thank you.. Some of them didn’t explain a lot you know about it.. I would buy it . But I spent all my money 💰 on a new engine for my 1999 Jeep xj. And I have a 2000 jeep xj too . I’m gonna leave them to my girls one day. A kit Version no electronics no Body no inner fenders just a kit that’s what I won’t .. or Ecto 6x6 :) I can see six wheel steering new axles tires Bam 💥
Cool! Lucky daughters to have such cool vintage Jeeps!
Yes, a 1/10 scale ✌😉. And a element, allready got 3 models and think the are very good and a great platform for the money. This one, as you say, looks like a very good beginner. Nice new small things aswell.
I have to disagree with your comment on bushing wear. Back when I was into RC years ago, bushings were the norm and bearings were a very expensive upgrade. As such, most people would stay on bushings. Running in dirty, dusty scenarios grinds those brass bushings down in a hurry and before long you've got a lot of sloppy fittings. Gearbox and such so long as it's sealed, I agree - bushings will last quite a while. But on the axles or anywhere that they're exposed to the elements, they will wear pretty quickly if you subject the vehicle to regular use. That said, I get it - making an entry level vehicle means cutting corners and not giving bells & whistles. So good on them for that...but for me, a bearing kit would be in order pretty quickly. Thanks for the review!
Absolutely, I totally get it. I think if you're comparing one to the other, for the average consumer, the bushings will still last longer than the bearings. Thanks for watching!
Went to check out your link and it's not listed at A Main. Great video. Your locations always look amazing.
Yet. Amain is usually a little slow on the upload. It'll be there soon I'm sure.
The tires remind me of axial's ripsaws without the depth.
