I think the point is that the dog is impressive and he wouldn't want to be tackled by that dog. There are police dogs that enter these competitions and many people wouldn't know the back story of each dog. Just seeing a dog in competition doesn't guarantee that its not a police dog because they aren't mutually exclusive.
