He was so humble, that he was never shy to show his mistakes, nor how he played classical music, even being criticized by some classical musicians. He loved music so much. And we love him. 🎉❤
I play jazz piano and Chick has always been my greatest influence. Yes, there are legends like Bill Evans, Herbie, Monk, Keith Jarrett, Mehldau... but Chick was so inventive, from the use of modal/fourths in "Now he sings.." to Spain, to his trio work with the Akoustic band... I mean you name it. He also had impeccable taste when choosing the musicians he worked with. What a master, I will forever miss him.
we've witnessed how a giant practices. rest in peace chick. your music, your enormous contributions to music and your legacy will not be forgotten... i sometimes come here to fully comprehend that no one will ever reach your level. rip master
True Genius. Many thanks for all and everything you have given to the world. The Great Chick Corea Will be sadly missed but you're immense body of work Will forever be throughout eternity. Return to forever and ever and ever. Just had to pay tribute there. 😊

It's funny to see the new kids discovering Chick Corea, a guy that I fortunately discovered in the late 60s. Yes, he was always awesome, and my main influence. 😅😅😅
I studied piano for over a decade but watching Chick here what differs most from my capabilities is not so much his fluid technique i am relatively decent with that, but it is his memory. As he learns a piece he easily writes what he learned like a pen on a white sheet of paper and it stays there for good ready to be played again perfectly. Somehow i have no been able to organize my mind to do that, memorizing is a long slow difficult process for me. It probably has something to do with lacking vizualizing my own body articulation and sensing fingers touch memory while playing. When i try to memorize i always feel like a blind man trying to cross a busy street or densely maze like market. I wished i knew how to relearn that and get that skill.
Unfortunately, Chick was a nearly-lifelong Scientologist. Luckily, he is one of the easiest "separate art from the artist" types. Undeniable musical genius, incredible pioneer, unsavory personal religious views lol.
This is the real deal and on an entirely different level. Dirty loops is a great band they are without doubt inspired by the fusion era and bands like Chicks electric band.
@@fjzingo Yes. And thank God they are discovering, because most people only hear pop music from the big media. They have no clue what they are missing. And there are others discovering jazz, but only the new kids, like Cory Henry. They have no idea that Cory comes from Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and many others.
The humility to record himself making mistakes so that we all can see it is part of the process
He probably faked those mistakes lol
Well yeah, it's classical regurgitation. A completely different beast to jazz.

Even Chick fumbled on Goldberg Variation, it speaks volumes about how hard these Bach pieces are.

A lot of Bachs compositions were on organ. Which has different fingering then piano, and also had very tricky fingering on his 2 and 3 part fugues.
Hello I was wondering if I've said anything before realizing not, this is such a wonderful lesson by this gigant
