Bad Romance was totally left field when it came out a decade ago and shocked everyone, the song and the video. She changed pop music forever back then and defined a new template for pop music that is still followed to this day. This song and video are her biggest hit to date! Ask anyone about Lady Gaga and this is the song the whole world knows. I can't believe you missed it. It used to play in every shop and radio station constantly! This was her peak. You should check out her song/music video for "Marry the Night". There is a lot of story about her life in the music video (it is 13min long lol) but it is very creative and extremely well done.
Loved your reaction! The use of "Psycho", "Vertigo" and "Rear Window" in the lyrics is indeed a reference to Alfred Hitchcock which itself serves as a metaphor for obsessive love and generally the dark parts of a human psyche, themes that Hitchcock primarily dealt with in his movies. The video is about Lady Gaga being captured by a kind of russian mafia in the future and she is dancing for the boss of the mafia to free herself by catching his attention and killing him basically ! Her songs and music videos show in a very creative way that she had several troubled relationships with men ! A lot of her songs are about toxic relationships as Judas, Perfect Illusion, etc. You should react to Judas Music Video which is a masterpiece but also to G.U.Y. Music Video that was released in 2014 and it was her last true pop dance music video before Stupid Love actually even if she did the crazy John Wayne MV in 2017 ! The G.U.Y. Music video is really really interesting to analyse in particular the Long Version of the video that is called ARTPOP Film
Definitely need to react to Marry The Night (the long 13 min version) The story is about her getting fucked over by her last label and then signing with interscope
If you watch her music videos with a sense of camp, tongue in cheek, kind of way, you can appreciate the creativity. I prefer the campy videos, personally. My favorite, Marry the Night, has more serious undertones in it, but it still rocks. You should check it out!
OMG. Cute reaction Jersh :)). It's the first time in 10 years I've met someone who doesn't know this song haha even here in Spain sometimes I listened to elderly people hum those "ooooh oh ohhhhh ohhh oh" hahhaa i love your videos.
For this music video, she basically did everything, she wrote the plot, the storyline and the treatment. The video is basically about woman’s body being seen as products by men & how toxic it feels.
I love when general people find and react to her old stuff. Being a fan of her since the beginning of her career, I’m proud of what she has done! Ugh. My baby is grown 😭😭😭

The video: She’s trying to present herself in a way that would make him love her or give her what she thinks she wants/needs. In front of him: various perfect looks, behind the scenes she’s “freakish” “not perfect.” The end: she has to destroy the relationship to save herself. It is very post-modern pop. If Munch were a pop star. Very macabre and dark, tongue in cheek and camp. It’s perfect.
watching this music video back there are actually so many connections Ryan Murphy used in AHS Hotel with Bad Romance!! The holding chambers, the cage that she dances in in the second verse. It all has a similar feeling to wear she holds the vampire children!
If you like storyline then you definitely should check Gaga’s earlier videos. Telephone, Alejandro, Born This Way, Marry the Night, G.U.Y. are all +9min music videos filled with story telling acting and choreography.
Quote from Lady Gaga in an interview, “There was certainly some whisky involved in the writing of the record. It’s about being in love with your best friend.” 😄
Couple corrections: Bath Haus of Gaga is a nod to her team which is called Haus of Gaga. In Bloody Mary there are people changing Gaga in that song. The idea of the men in the brothel is close but they are actually bidding on Her and it was a type of prostitute ring. To which one of the men bids on Her and wins a night with Her to which She kills Him
She does, indeed, promote herself, in most of her songs, as she should- most artists began to take note and take permission from her, that branding yourself was a smart thing to do. She also wears her own merch at her concerts, as well as giving some that she wore away, driving sales- she is a smart businesswoman!!! She is fluent in French and Spanish, and highly educated, which is why you see those influences. Did you miss the product placement? She was being sold to the highest bidder. BEATS, and Smirnoff. All the "Weird" fashion came straight off the Paris runways....
From the video I have always assumed that she is drugged in the bathtub which causes her large eyes as she sees hallucinations as if she’s on an acid trip or LSD. This way she is easier to pass off to a man for sex. It’s possible she’s being cloned or trained with the other slaves but one thing is clear, they are all sold for sex. But the men only want her, because she is the real version. However, she flips the script and kills the man who bid to sleep with her. She sacrifices him, and actually has a mind of her own as the true version of Gaga. Yet at the end, she appears as just another clone, a theatrical fem-bot. This ending scene suggests that maybe she really did become a clone at some point but still has her own mind inside of her, where she views reality differently than how it’s actually happening. “It’s not that I’ve been dishonest, it’s just that I loathe reality.” If you apply this quote to each of her music videos, you start to see that she embellishes the truth or sugarcoats it because it is too painful to bear the actual reality of it.
Also visually the video was an ode to the late Alexander McQueen. His last show featured a glossy white runway and this was made its debut there. A lot of his from that last collection clothes are in this video too.
she does sing her name in a few of her songs, mainly her singles! some songs include: Just Dance, Starstruck, Bad Romance, Monster, Judas, Bloody Mary and Government Hooker

The director of the video was also the director of I Am Legend And she does sing Gaga a lot, having that her own namesake was a lyric to RadioGaga
You were really close!! The video is basically a metaphor for how the music industry is like a big brothel where young artists (mostly women) are sold to wealthy usurping men to own, but she says no thanks! And burns the man who buys her
So the reason she throws her name in her tracks a lot especially her older stuff is because waaayyy back in the late 2000s and early 2010s that was the thing to do. It was a way of promotion, so that if it was your first time hearing you’d know the artist. The artists did this with their producers too. At the beginning of Just dance lady Gaga starts by singing RedOne, and all throughput her first album she mentions “cherry cherry boom boom” and “space cowboy” and those are all producers for her tracks
Glad you enjoy her stuff ! She is extremely talented, amazingly intelligent and a damn hard worker 💪. She writes everything, has that killer voice and is a fierce force for human rights ! A really lovely human being !!!
U need to check more videos of her. You and I is underrated, that video is a masterpiece as well, and is pop/country rock ballad u might like it. Judas Alejandro Marty the night Born this way Appplause Guy artpop film And you and I are definitely her best videos alongside bad romance and paparazzi
How on earth have I been both a Gaga fan and a Hitchcock fan for the last 10 years and I did not see the references in her lyrics the million times I've listened to this? I guess I have to subscribe for all this new information now 😂 fuck knows what else I missed
i think the story behind the song and MV is about how you really want to be with someone real bad to the point she would allow herself to transform to someone she isn't. Like selling herself to the devil. At the end of the day, it seems like she's killing it! She's
Dude, with Gaga you need to understand that pop bullshit is never the case: she write her songs in a way that industry and naive people can swallow as a shallow pop music about money and relationships, but if you look to her albums with attention and hear her speech about it you will understand that she uses irony and mockery A LOT. In this song in particular she is actually talking about her relationship with fame and the way she started to understand that it will ruin her, but she still want it since she work so hard to get there. That's why in the video she was sold to be used by those creepy modern-mafia looking dudes (the industry). We also have a lot of references that suggest a visceral vision of the behind the scenes of industry: she been drugged to operate, she as a mannequin without humanity displayed around jewels, she as a anorexic monster... At the end she show some kind of control about herself, burning the one who tries dominate her. It's a masterpiece, really.
Yay! Glad you decided to review it! She does mention her name in several songs as a signature, but not every song. This song is about being in love with your best friend. She doesn’t care what happens because she wants all sides of that person, even his most darkest parts. That’s why she has all the horror references and stuff. The video is suppose to be that she gets drugged and sold into the sex industry. She ends up burning him alive in the end. To me it’s her most iconic video. The song is the perfect marriage of her outré image, commercial ambitions, and very real musical talent. Love her!
She writes her songs and her music Also she directs many of her video clips along with her team! She once mentioned that Bad Romance was written within 10 minutes.... She is a true ARTIST!
I totally believe you when you say you've never heard this song before. I mean I'm proud to say I live in a world where Despacito hasn't yet reached my ears even though I know all the memes.
Yes she speaks french, she is multitalented. She signs, dances, acts, writes. She is a total enternaiment, performance arts monster. Ah and she does all of that while being in chronic pain.
Her name is "Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta" Lady Gaga is a persona she has adapted. So she is not "really" singing her name. Just her "stage name" and persona.
the name that i and the rest of the world know her as and associate with her, for me it's like if metallica sang the word 'metallica' in a song, it is fun to notice it and i kinda look forward to it now lol
You also have to keep an open mind when listening to her songs. All most all of them are personal experiences. There was a time when gaga felt owned so she dressed up to make herself feel like she was in control. I myself am a huge david bowie fan and so is gaga him and elton john where her primal inspirations.
At these times I rarely listened to pop music much since it never peaked my interest. But how can someone overlook Lady Gaga? At first I thought she got some good pop songs for radio and the masses; but I was totally blown away by artpop especially, she always challenges and really respect her for her passion music. Although I don't like all of her music I'm always coming back to see whats shes been up to with her latest release and I think shes one hell of a creative head. My favorite songs by her is "venus" and "a million reasons".
that entire music video was shot in one room. The point of the video is that someone buys her and she kills him. It has a lot of fashion refrences particularly from Alexander McQueen. She does speak french and doesn't speak German but she can if you like. lol.
It's about being in a bad relationship but still wanting it. It's also a Russian bath house where they are selling her. If you notice it says 1,000,000 albums sold. It is believed this song is about the old producer gaga worked with who later on dated then it all went down hill. It left her trauma and for her music is therapy and she likes being transparent with her fans.
I really love this reaction, and how you just watch the final part trying to understand it with no pauses; your face is priceless like “what the hell am I watching?” and I know, it’s a lot of stuff going on specially at the end of the video. The first time I watched it I cried! And I was 14!

You were really close!! The video is basically a metaphor for how the music industry is like a big brothel where young artists (mostly women) are sold to wealthy usurping men to own, but she says no thanks! And burns the man who buys her
Nothing gives me more joy than watching locals discover the genius of Lady Gaga
This widely considered her best song.
The fact that the most iconic video of the 21st century was shot in 1 room
Glad you enjoy her stuff ! She is extremely talented, amazingly intelligent and a damn hard worker 💪. She writes everything, has that killer voice and is a fierce force for human rights ! A really lovely human being !!!
my theory is its a nod to Queen's "Radio Gaga" which is were she got her name. which is why she puts it into the lyrics of her song so much.
I thought that ever single person on earth has seen it!
U need to check more videos of her.
You and I is underrated, that video is a masterpiece as well, and is pop/country rock ballad u might like it.
Judas
Alejandro
Marty the night
Born this way
Appplause
Guy artpop film
And you and I are definitely her best videos alongside bad romance and paparazzi
(she looks like that alien from indipendence day) hahahaha dude u got me with this one
This song played on the radio 24/7, played a parties, everyone has heard it
There u go assuming I listen to the radio and go to parties again, sheesh..... 😁
How on earth have I been both a Gaga fan and a Hitchcock fan for the last 10 years and I did not see the references in her lyrics the million times I've listened to this? I guess I have to subscribe for all this new information now 😂 fuck knows what else I missed
💭; This is my Favorite Lady Gaga video!... 😎🎵✨👍🏼
You can’t be serious for hearing it for the first time. Issa national song in the worlds
i think the story behind the song and MV is about how you really want to be with someone real bad to the point she would allow herself to transform to someone she isn't.
9.43 " SHE LOOKS LIKE ALIEN IN INDEPENDENCE DAY "
LMAO
Love her!
She writes her songs and her music
Also she directs many of her video clips along with her team!
She once mentioned that Bad Romance was written within 10 minutes....
She is a true ARTIST!
I love how he’s bopping to the song but his eyes are also wide with horror from the music video.
I totally believe you when you say you've never heard this song before. I mean I'm proud to say I live in a world where Despacito hasn't yet reached my ears even though I know all the memes.
first time listening.. did you live in a cave by now?
Yes she speaks french, she is multitalented. She signs, dances, acts, writes. She is a total enternaiment, performance arts monster. Ah and she does all of that while being in chronic pain.
Her name is "Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta" Lady Gaga is a persona she has adapted. So she is not "really" singing her name. Just her "stage name" and persona.
the name that i and the rest of the world know her as and associate with her, for me it's like if metallica sang the word 'metallica' in a song, it is fun to notice it and i kinda look forward to it now lol
@@SuperJersh Ok. I wish you and "the rest of the world" continued happiness in all your pursuits.
I was maybe 12 when this came out and this Lady Gaga era undoubtedly saved me.
I absolutely love how you use the Pokemon RSE end credits scene as the background for you videos!
Didn’t know that’s what I was doing lol, but thx!! :)
Gaga is true genius
There is no artist can beat this video music! The old Gaga is phenomenal!!
I hate how people try to find sense in a freaking music video. just enjoy the ride, you don't have to understand it, just absorve it.
Loved her crazy gaga faze. What a time to remember.
Alejandro next....
“She’s a fembot”
“No shit Sherlock“ lol
You aren’t gay If you don’t know this song. You aren’t human.
If you're interested in any of her live performances please react to her Superbowl Halftime Show 💗
her vma performance of paparazzi is iconic
that entire music video was shot in one room.
