  • This time at the Quick Speed Shop I'm turning set of heavy Ford van running boards into a set of tube steps for my 1980 Dodge W200 restoration project truck. I also assemble the door panels after mounting some hand carved wooden armrests. Will all the projects on this build mostly complete I pull it out of the shop and pull in the C10 truck in preparation of the shortbed, stepside conversion.

Hawaiian Blue and cream will make the truck for sure... Going to be a fun build to tag along as you clone your Dad's truck. It was a beauty!!

I'm taking the C10 apart now. Going to be awhile before the paint goes on.

Donut spares on newer cars are usually bias ply anyway. Yes you can get 7.50-16 Deestone D503 thats similar tread just watch as there is a tube type and tubeless versions. I've sold several of these and the millitary jeep tread to local farmers for old trucks and equipment. I still sell retread tires and that doesn't happen very often, usually its been improperly repaired before or had casing damage to the tire before it was retreaded. The post office uses a lot of retread tires. Those running boards remind me of the running board and bumpers on old oilfield trucks.

I bought a Power King Extra Traction. It's tubeless. The recapper did send me a free replacement as well. I'm going to dismount the damaged one and see if I can see what the problem is. If it's just a puncture, I'll try to patch it. Then I'll have a pair to run on my yard Jeep.

Awesome job engineering those steps onto your truck ! You might want to consider coating them with Black Raptor liner someday. They have it in 2k spray cans. It's a little pricey but will last much longer than spray paint.

I'm not worried about the steps because they are galvanized. It's cheap and easy to touch them up with Rustoleum flat black if need be.

A loud bang hmm. I was sitting outside drinking a few beers one summer enjoying some 113 temps I heard a loud bang fairly close, Looked at my vehicles saw nothing wrong. a bit later in the season when it was road trip time, I was going over the vehicle we were taking and I had found that the spare tire in the trunk of the car had exploded. so off to pick n pull I went 40 bucks for a donut spare. good thing too on that road trip we needed the spare tire. Dodge steps look awesome. and I believe all old chevy's have that lean.🤣🤣, It's a chevy thing 🤣Thanks for the video and have a great week Josh

I've had old tires explode before, but not a "new" like this. I want to dismount it and see what the inside looks like!

Now I know why the original armrest was narrow- easier to pull the door handle

That's true. Also the seats are taller which makes you have to reach lower.

Should there not be small metal strips to go on the door strap before the fixing screw? As it looks like there should be one that slides in and locks on the small tab. See in the video at 22:17 to 22:47 . Or is it for a cover to slide in?

There is metal in the strap. There were covers for the screws originally, but they were missing before I got the truck.

It was a failure of the retread for some reason. I bought a new tire that's not a retread, but the recapper also sent me a replacement so now I have a 2nd tire to use on my yard Jeep
