    Well I cant say I agree here. We just got out of a lawsuit because of a moldy home. Builder had to buy it back. Mold can be hard to remove and must be done by licensed professionals only and by state requirements. I almost died because of the mold in our brand new home. Trying to breathe was extremely hard and can cause so many health issues. Mold can grow back. Moldy homes can kill you and it should be taken with extreme caution.

      The builder may need to rip out the drywall to use chemical, which can be costly. What builder and where was it originating? I’m sorry you had that experience and a builder put you in that position.
      To be clear, I think we can agree because I’m only talking about taking a problem and solving it beyond the minimum required. We ripped out more drywall than needed costing us more money etc. and hired the most strict industrial hygienist to certify the space before build back.
      That’s the overall message here. Do a great job of removing the mold and make it safer than most homes. It can certainly be done.

      So we dealt with a texas builder, beginning with a "W". The home had horrible AC issues with humidity as high as 88% in home, had several roof leaks and the builder waited about 8 months to address it. We had to fight for getting leaks in the roof fixed, amongst other things. And what's sad is the same exact home builder and the same exact guy who we dealt with is now causing issues for another guy my husband works with since they bought from exact company as we did. The company didn't learn their lesson and now may be facing another lawsuit. All I can say is don't buy a house in texas. The laws here are not for helping the homeowners. But the home builders in fact have bought out the court system too. So homeowners will get ripped off and less than likely find any justice should they need to take them to court. Our judge tried to sanction them a few times, but the builders were able to get it appealed because the Republicans in this state have set it forth that big businesses will always win in texas vs. The consumer. Weird how the builder fought appeal on something they fought for in another case, yet we sanction them on same thing they fought for and we lose the appeal. Imagine that, I tracked down who pays money to certain campaigns in this state, it tells a unique story. Don't trust the builders in texas people!!

      @@hawaiibound62 oh wow. So it sounds like the mold got in the HVAC and became airborne? That is the risk with mold, inhaling it. If it’s on a piece of drywall because a thing leaked, you remove and remediate. Fairly simple. Having it on your hvac especially in Texas where you have central air, that’s a different issue for sure.

      @@movingtohawaii yes it was everywhere! Texas can have mold problems. But it's because alot of builders are not building correctly. Unfortunately the homeowners in texas are suffering state wide.

      @@movingtohawaii You all should do a video on TIPS TO PREVENT MOLD IF BUYING OR LIVING IN A HOUSE IN HAWAII!!! so many people are uninformed on this subject, and bring in local businesses with their tips, so they can gain future customers with their tips. It seriously is a big subject for some of us. Mold disrupted my life and my family. Our health was greatly impacted and may never return to normal. So prevention is key, and some people living on the leeward and windward sides will be impacted differently with who gets drier air vs more humidity. That would be a good video. ❤ so maybe do a follow-up video with tips!!! My husband and I will be visiting Hawaii in a couple weeks to see if we want to make the move to the island. The air is cleaner there, and we are wanting to move because the mold in our texas house affected our health greatly. But now our lungs have suffered to the point we need to change areas to live, to help our health. ❤ kudos for taking up these controversial topics. Keep up the amazing work on your channel❤ Mahalo

    Very informative video guys. Mold in a home, is much easier to treat than termite damage. With mold, you can treat the affected areas and REPAIR them.
    With termite damage, you have to cut out the impacted areas and REPLACE them.
    Big difference.
    Thanks for the video!

      I might want to inform you that mold spores get airborne. Which means they can land throughout the house, and inside your air vent, in your carpets, and if it's growing on studs inside your walls, it must be removed. Termites are narrowed down to an area. Whereas mold spores move. Much different outcomes calls for different measures and methods to tackle it. Mold kills people, termites don't. HUGE difference there.

    That's crazy 😮 Mold is an issue in so many homes in Hawaii. Hard to avoid in Hawaii just like rust on the cars.

    Mildew around bathroom sink is different from toxic molds. Some molds cause cancer, neurological issues like aspergillus, stachybotrus, are some toxic ones. If its growing on walls, thats not good.

    • @movingtohawaii
      @movingtohawaii  4 дні тому

      Understood. As stated, all mold should be treated as dangerous and removed professionally and appropriately and depending on the scale, the space certified by a third party industrial hygienist.

      @@movingtohawaii I agree. And I don't wish anyone to have to go through the turmoil to where it effects their health. Like you stated, some are more sensitive to it than others. But if you all are willing to tackle it, kudos to you, because after we went through thr nightmare of fighting our builder in court, it left a bad taste for us and we found out Texas builders do anything to protect themselves instead of doing warranty work as they should do per the contract. It can be a nasty situation quick with a builder.

    Sad to hear that mold is a problem in Hawaii. It makes sense because of the humidity, but I thought the sun and salt spray winds would be mitigating factors. Some people have a good tolerance for a little mold in the home. Some get debilitating symptoms. The severe brain fog seems like one of the worst symptoms.
