I love Stefanie and Tower of Power are still amazing after all these years. It is good to see and hear a young singer like Stefanie who can actually sing and appears to be comfortable being herself and not conforming to some industry standard young female pop singer template. The girl kicks butt!
She's great. She was only 20 years old at the time this video was shot. She has a great stage presence, a hell of an attitude and a booming and aggressive voice that suites the band perfectly. Yes, she may have some (very little) technical dark spots but that's something that time and practice will take away (and man, does she have a lot of time, she's 22, for crying out loud!), but she has something that practice can never create: Attitude, and a whole lot of it. And TOP does'nt need my praises
We first saw TOP in Cleveland Ohio at the Agora when they just released East Bay Grease. No one knew them, there were maybe 20 people in the audience. The next time they came back to Cleveland you couldn't get into the club. One of the greatest groups of all time and should be in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. They are real musicians and have "Soul with a capital S." 🎼🥁🎷🎺🎲
Those that are criticizing this performance obviously don't understand the talent this young woman has. To sit in with a top level group such as TOP and pull off the vocals on one of their early tunes is amazing. Congratulations on a job well done.
Just read all the comments again, i must say this is soul and Stefanie has the soul. I doubt that all the negative comment really understand this kind of music ? I understand that old school muscican have hard days with this, But the fact is, that thay are all great muscian - also Stefanie. Music is all about gathering not dizzering, listen again, feel it and relax, this is pure soul music, Stefanie or not.

Hardly heard a note she sang because I couldn't get over how hard the band were burning the oil! One of my all-time favourite tunes and I must have heard it a 1000 times but this treatment made me feel the way I did the first time I heard it. You guys are unbelievable and long may continue.
Go, white girl, GO!! She tore it up. A chance to sing a song with TOP is a big deal and one of the best lessons in funk you can get. It takes balls to get up there and go toe-toe with them. Good luck, young lady. Hope she goes far.

Still & always the hottest horn & funk band around. Been watching since the original Oakland Stroke days. Stephanie has lots of heart. From a musicians stand point the individual parts are great...but throw all the syncopation in & you just gotta dance..!!

I admend my critique of this performance. I originally said she was pitiful, however I searched her name and see where she has belted out songs with Teena Marie ferocity. She was on the European version of Star Search or The Voice, and she sung the Tower's song with ease , and the house band carried her well. Therefore, her performance with the Tower was what would you call it, a reward for bringing their song to a young European audience; perhaps she won with it, my Deutch is rusty. I would like to see her with a great band and great songs, I think she will be a hit on both sides of the Atlantic.
Louie Colon when you talk about TOP’s David Garibaldi to anyone that plays professional they will tell you that he is considered the best soul funk drummer in the world. He sets the standard for everyone else.

i'm stunned by all the dumb negative comments. how many of you have jumped on stage and performed w/ any live band? she may not have the perfect matched voice to the band BUT watch the band- they killed it for her...they performed at the top and that usually happens when the singer , band, the whole package is putting in 150%. i have played drums for over 40 years and I'd be shxxxxx my pants to sit in w/ this level band. She did fantastic ..keep up the great work!

Not all songs or renditions are complementary to singers. This wasn't a good match.
