It was during the tournament that Hawk fought roughly even with Robby before getting DQ'd and Robby went on to nearly beat Miguel with only 1 arm. If Miguel was above Hawk at the time of the tournament it wasn't by much, and definitely not by THIS much.
Miguel as this point in the show was severely above everyone else as far as the teen fighters went. The writers had the intent of Miguel getting injured in the school fight way before hand. They couldn't keep him like he was doing the forest fight.
I feel like Miguel is really underappreciated, I mean no offence to hawk, he's a beast but overall I think miguel is better, he was the first cobra kai student in 30 years and if he didn't fall he'd be the best of all i think... I just love him man
