I saw Grace for the first time at the Rochas show in 2004, I knew who she was of course, and saw her, and she SAW ME, everyone else was jostling and bitching to get in the show, she was calm and looked over at me, I was wearing a white Calvin Klein suit (she used to work at Calvin) and she looked right at me and smiled, a long smile, I smile that showed she was considering me, appreciating what I was and what I was wearing. It's a great feeling when an icon makes you feel worth notice. I wanted to speak with her, but Colin McDowell and Stella Tennant came up, and by the time we were finished talking, the moment had passed, but I'll always remember how she made me feel with that smile, that passing connection, a little bit of validation.
Grace is now 80 yrs old. (April 20,1941) I can't imagine what the pages of Vogue would have been had Grace been absent as Creative Director. What a remarkable artist!
There's such an honesty and realness to her that I think makes her stand out. Very refreshing and increasingly rare in a more contrived, PR-obsessed world these days. Really enjoyed it, thank you!
Pretty profound comment about the switch to freelance work instead of working with a team. Almost eery in the current times of Covid19, "I enjoyed being part of a group of people. I work better with a group of people than on my own. One person inspires something. You know conversations…I miss having all those conversations with my colleagues."
She is an indeed deep, profound woman. An expert. A genius. A muse. A sweet friend and companion. I feel that although I certainly don ' t know her .. ☆ .. Happy holidays to Ms. GRACE CODDINGTON .. ! 🤶🎅
To a foreigner like me it would be much easier to read the subtitles, if they had applied at least some punctuation. Not every viewer is a native speaker. I read "A Memoir" by Grace Coddington and I highly admire her personality and her work. She is a very likeable woman.
Agreed. Great to listen to, but visually that hat to the side seemed so contrived and "borrowed" that I had to listen rather than watch. Great interview nonetheless.
Talent with Grace, in both meanings....Like her directnes and the way she describe her in a quite innocent and real way to where she is today. Love her work
Lovely interview! Insightful lady and I´m glad we did not get any fast cuts. What I take from this is that it takes at least two Brits to make an American Vouge and good to see Grace keeps her books like me ;)
She really can make a photo something so special. Had I been in that industry, it would have been an absolute highlight to work with her. Magazines have changed so much since I was a kid in the 90's. I'd always look for American Vogue and pay a fortune for it in Australia! The images didn't compare.
That’s an understatement. It used to be about the fantasy of fashion. Now that idea is ancillary to their main focus: dressing bold faced names for puff pieces and press calls. American Vogue has become a celebrity gossip magazine.
I find it so sad the fashion magazines that i lived on are so different so wrong so uninspiring loved this interview Grace i followed you many yesrs being a fellow red head!!!
What will happen to you after thousand of years how do you look like if it’s nit fixed and thinking touching that building will gonna help you all to recover the mystery of great aunts and uncles um a psychic holding a card I swear to god. Lololololololx2million

That's an extraordinary moment and memory.
Thank God for Grace Coddington. You are an inspiration and beacon for things yet to accomplish. My cats and I salute you.
Grace Coddington is a name that will always be part of the language of fashion. She's truly a icon and a wealth of knowledge.
And one of the few people Anna Wintour hired that was truly talented. None of that Andre Leon Talley fashion victim/clown shit.
I just finished her Autobiography. She is such an icon and a wonderful model back in the day.

Ms. Coddington embodies the awareness that elegance doesn't necessarily have anything to do with appearance.
Grace Coddington and Diana Vreeland two of the most creative geniuses in Fashion hands down!!!!

I read Grace's book 10 yrs ago. Really enjoyed it
There’s something very captivating about her. She speaks, I listen. Love her works, love her personality more.

Besides, some words had been transcripted incorrectly.
That young man was a very good interviewer.
No he wasn’t. It was okay, at best. And the hat put an explanation point on that.
read her memoir and love her! an icon.❤️
I absolutely love Grace - and Christopher Michael is a very insightful questions, very good interviewer.

I really like her. She hit the nail on the head on the over commercialisation of the fashion industry.
