Frank Vignola & Vinny Raniolo 'Tico Tico / Apache' | Live Studio Session
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 жов 2024
- Perhaps the most entertaining guitar duo today, Frank Vignola and Vinny Raniolo, up the ante with a mash-up of "Tico-Tico" and (of all things) a very souped-up version of the old rock 'n roll classic, "Apache" in the KNKX Seattle Studios on May 30, 2013. Check out the other three songs from this performance on our UA-cam channel.

Saw them doing this tonight in a small town in Wales called Tenby. From the front row no less.
It is wonderful that world class musicians like these play in small towns like mine.

How I'd die to be there! So much envy! I wish you enjoyed it as much I would've
This is what should be played on radio !
These guys are super you can tell their hearts are in their playing it’s so much more than a bunch of notes. It’s great to see guys who love what they are doing. Thank you gentleman for a super job.
Raniolo's Tico Tico is a summer favorite for me and my 7 month old baby goes absolutely nuts when she hears it and always wants me to dance with her when I play it, resulting in absolutely hysterical laughter by her. Some of the best stuff of life.
This is what I love, great musicians that you can tell are having a ball whilst they are playing
We see Vinny play quite often. He's amazing. But it's also great to hear him play with Frank. I have a few of Frank's jazz guitar instruction DVDs. They've helped me alot in my playing.
Had the great fortune of meeting, and spending time with these two when they headlined Big Sky Gypsy Jazz Festival in Montana in 2018. Great players, great teachers, and just all-around awesome humans....I don't know that I've ever seen anyone as dedicated to their craft as Vinny....dude rarely puts his guitar down.
If I die to with this playing I'll die happy. So thankful for the happiness that Frank and Vinnie have brought to my life, just wonderful :-)
you two guys...happy as heck here....look at Vinny ...the happy master....loving your own work ....thats how you get great...and you guys are
I always thought Vinny could tear it up on a guitar. When I watch He and Frank on the Tommy Emmanuel videos, he does a unbelievable job playing rhythm guitar. He can lay down a layer of chords that can weave the whole session very tight indeed. Great job guys, love all of your vids!!!
So nice to see Vinnie get a little solo action... Such a great pair. I really love these two together
Outstanding. Saw them in Tenby last Saturday. They blew the place away.
How anyone could possibly dislike this is beyond me..
cormac kelly they just click the dislike button...
cormac kelly maybe they noticed Vinny's mistake at 5:09, is the only explanation haha
cormac kel
They dislike it because they don't understand it. U learn to love this sound.
it can be summed up in one word, jealously!
Beautiful performance of Tico Tico, a great old time Brazilian classic.
What a couple of very talented guitar players !!
Fab times ten. Love Frank. First I've heard Vinny. Brand new fan. Keep it coming and thanks for the vid!
So much joy! Greetings from Poland!!
Oh, my GAWD!! I LOVE these two, and I am a big fan of Frank! :) :) :)
Just LUV these guys~!~!~!~ They're from New York, Long island, my hometown. I knew Joe Ascione their drummer, he lived right across the street from my friend Russell Sullivan's house in the town of Selden, Long Island. We watched Joey practicing in his basement. He LOVED Buddy Rich,,, and studied with him too, and learned how to do Rich's one hand drum roll. Sadly Joey passed not long ago, and Frank Vignola almost bought the farm recently, after having crashed into a tree while riding an atv vehicle. But he's convalescing well, and he's been doing some online guitar clinics and Q & A sessions. He's a really great guy!!!!
rip joe, you were incredible.
Fantastic.... together with the talent, the amount of practice behind playing at this level is massive!...
Thanks for sharing. These guys are amazing!!
I like how Vinny pays Tribute to Django Reinhardt
Saw them with Gary Mazaroppi five days ago. Best night of live music I'll ever see.
My like is 1200! I love this duo! Frank Vignola has a great technique and great music taste!
Beautiful! excellent performance. Ciao.

I saw these guys open for Tommy Emmanuel in Adelaide about 10 yrs ago. Amazing

I caught their show last week in Chicago and met them after the show. Great guys and great musicians.
this video is now a staple in my practicing everyday
What a great team. You guys are awesome. JM
Saw these guys last night. Synchronized brilliance AND totally entertaining.
Very nice recording here, with stereo spread on the two guitars.
+Daniel Hudelson I'm seeing them on Friday, I can't wait! I saw both of them with the Great Guitars gig and they were incredible.
Chris Row is
These guys are fantastic live, streamed, on CD & any other way you can hear them....
I thought back to your wonderful concert in Clayton, NC, in November 2015 and just had to listen to you. Hope to see you in concert again soon.
good to see vinny get a solo; I always figured he could probably play more than rhythm..
He killed it too
Frank is very kind. All of his musicians got a lot of opportunities to show off ;)
He uses is 4th finger less....
Who could possibly dislike this?!
Pero que buenos. Fantásticas versiones.
Beuatiful skill!
OUTSTANDING!
Miss you guys! ❤️💕🎶🎵

THAT'S AWESOME!
Saw them twice opening for Tommy Emmanuel in SF and they were great! Lots of talent on stage that night.
Ted Hoeborn wow
And they opened and played with him about the same time at the Sydney Opera House. I remember them dancing around each other while playing 'Swan Lake'.
I d kill or die to see those 3 on stage together!! lol

Non ci sono parole...
Due grandissimi professinisti.
I thought I'm not a bad guitar player. After I heard this I could not play the next three days. From now on I'm going to practice more, and more!
I saw Frank with Tommy Emmanuel last Tuesday and he included this in his set.
that collings sounds amazing.
oh how I LOVE this!! : )
Apparently very few people here know that this song Tico tico (no fubá) is a Brazilian song and was composed in 1917 by Zequinha de Abreu and this style of music is called Choro, or Chorinho.
Frank plays Thorell guitars. This is my first time hearing it acoustic, what a sound!
Very well rehearsed! I imagine many hours were put in to perfect the arrangement. Nice job. Vinny's "improvisation" sounded perfectly memorized. 2 very nice tunes for this style. Although the "Apache" I know is a totally different tune. Joe Pass plays that Apache pretty good. Written by Ray Noble? (I think). Guess a lot of people are resurrecting the Rienhart/Grappelli thing. It is pretty amusing watching Vinny play Django style. You know Charlie Christian used to take Django style solos for a chuckle. I used to play that kind of stuff also but left it behind 30 years ago. It was fun and 2 guitarists are versatile enough to do it. My band was guitar-mandolin-acoustic bass-percussion.
Renee Malowitz Apache was written by Jerry Lordon. The Shadows made the first hit recording of it which was soon followed by the Danish guitarist Jorgen Ingmann version. The Shadows also had hits with "Atlantis" and "Wonderful Land" written by Lordon. .
Ray Noble wrote 'Cherokee'. Different tribe and a few more chords.
Vinny's fingering on chords is really something. Look at his A minor and E7th positions he uses at the beginning of the tune. What a stretch. They are a great team.
fantastique
I wonder how many strings these guys go through every session
WOW!
Muy excelente!
Awesome
Raniolo forever
Learning this version in The Monster Room!
Dang that was good
man these guys are bad ass! when they play with Tommy Emmanuelle you never can tell how good they are. not to take anything away from Tommy but these guys are just as good. vinnie usually plays the rhythm line but to hear him play less is just unreal. fantastic duo, good job guys!
Sorry less is supposed to say lead!
fantasticissimi
Nice!
Szuper imádás !!!
Outstanding. Coming to Nova Scotia Canada anytime soon?
Hola esto me iso recordar cuando estaba pequeña pues bailé el tico tico en la escuela!!
I wanna learn that Vinny raniolo chords part! His play so nice !!!
who is the better guitarist? Vinny is right up there with Frank - he's a loyal partner - always liked him...
Way to go, Vinny!
Chur boys fkn awesome
Master and Servant :-)
I like it :-)
ай красавцы....
позитивные ребята
((((:
Solô d'enfer ça me rappelle les chadows🎸🎶BRAVOS
Im meeting him in college :D
As Solid_Cedar_Top_Fan, I have always been wondering why Mr. Raniolo is not using such a solution. The sound offerred by cedar would definitely suit Mr. Vignola's style and sound.
The correct name is "Tico-Tico no Fubá". Tico-Tico is a little bird, from Brazil. "Fubá" is a kind of food, made with corn.
We all know that, but nobody really cares. We're here for the music, not the name of the song.
Отлично играют мне нравится
Top
To be honest I find Vinny's solos way better than Frank's, so much more musical taste in them. Wish I could hear more solos from him.
Sorry nobody in the world plays WAY better than Frank.
Good
i love his acoustic jazz guitar whats the name of it?
I think it might be a person who occidentally clicked the wrong button, cause i don't understand either.
They play like one unit -- exactly together. Their skill levels are equal - here's a later version of their work together: ua-cam.com/video/12X3CfePAC0/v-deo.html
Franky, what guitar is this pls.?
At what age should sy start to play to play once like this ??? -5??😂
Does anyone know what that chord structure is that Frank runs down at about 3:25? Can't quite tell the fingering.
+Gordon c I can teach you to finger correctly
+Juan Miguel Altube Great! Lay it on me.
