    The first true love of my pinball life as well. I played it all the time at an arcade a few blocks from me in the early 80s. Now I own one and still let myself have 3 games a night most of the time. I just never get tired of it sounds. I was lucky enough to buy a mint Black Knight 2000 as well. It is a HUGE part of family gatherings in my house at Christmas and birthdays.

    Oh man this takes me back. A couple boxes of Nerds and D&D candy, a can of Cherry RC, and a pocket full of quarters fed into this beast was my ideal afternoon when I was 12.

    This game was also one of my favourite pinball machines as a kid . Another game that blew me away from around that time was FIREPOWER ... Spent many quarters at the bowling alley back in the day . Thank you for sharing !

    Back when this came out, my best friend and I would go to the bar and play this game for hours! My highest score ever was 7.2 million. I've never come close to that since. It took me over 90 minutes of playing time. The key is getting long play out of multi-ball, getting the bonus full to 5X, and using the magna-save! I bought one in 1984 for 200 bucks - after a couple of years I gave it to a friend who still has it. I still consider it the best pinball game ever! I still play it online now and then.

    A long long time ago, in a U.S.A. far far away, I was a 15-year-old high-school sophomore cheerleader in Colorado.
    It was 1982, and our fundraiser was scarves and mittens. Coincident with this, I got hung up on the pinball game The Black Knight.
    I was still a virgin back then...and in my neighborhood, it wasn't necessarily terrifying, fundraising door-to-door.
    I did pretty well in sales; unfortunately, my Black Knight fever got the best of me, and I spent all of that money on him at the arcade around the corner.
    The day soon approached when I had to account for either, the goods or the ca$h.
    I wound up taking on extra babysitting gigs to make up the deficit.
    It was my first hard-knocks lesson in real-life economics...an awkward situation that gave birth to a lifetime of imagined dirty stories.
    Thank you, Black Knight 🌚
    ❤❤❤
    (Addendum:
    I wrote everything above prior to the 7:20 mark of this video, and I've gotta say:
    Sir, with all that pinball wizardry, you'dve had a half-black cheerleader as your girlfriend that year,
    Lawd, have mercy.
    I
    just wanted you to know)

    So this is the actual game you played as a kid in an arcade? Very cool. I was lucky enough a few years ago to luck into a Black Knight when I answered an ad for another machine, a Firepower. BK was under a blanket in the basement and they didn't even know that it was down there, and as it turns out, it was one of the several Black Knights from Time Travel Warehouse that were still new-in-box back in the early 2000's.

      Yes this is the actual Black Knight I was playing at the Family Fun Center near my childhood home. I was only Eleven years old when I started dumping Tokens into this machine. That's amazing that you ran into a BK that was still new in the box. If you haven't seen it check out my Video of my HUO 1980 Williams Blackout Pinball Machine. This machine was won on the Price Is Right in 81 and sat in a home for many years with minimum play until I got it a few years ago. This game still looks brand new.

    This game was absolutely everywhere for years. At least a decade or more. From the flashest arcade to the dingiest fish & chip shop.

    I used to be quasi addicted to this machine in 1988-1989 when I was a senior in HS. Jenkinsons Arcade on the beach in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ used to have it and that's where I'd play it. "I am the black knight..." I'll never forget that voice & the "magna save" as I think it was called. BTW - on the one I'd play the voice was different. It wasn't robotic and was more like a normal, dark voice. This voice sounds like the same one as in games like Robotron.

    • @727PENGO
      @727PENGO  Рік тому

      There is no difference in speech roms on the 1980 Black Knight Machines to make one sound different than the other. There was the Black Knight 2000 Pinball Machine that was released in 1989 that had the normal sounding darker voice. I have a video up on my channel on that game as well. Robotron did not have a speech board, so it did not talk. Sinistar was the video game that did.

    Ah, the fantastic Black Knight arcade machine. It has always been one of the most popular pinball games in the brazilian arcades, and it has a legion of nostalgic fans.
    Here she is called "Cavaleiro Negro", which is the literal translation of her name.
    The robotic voice sounds very different from your machine. It gives me the impression that your machine uses a digitized voice while our version uses a synthesized one. Not strangely, the synthesizer uses an American accent, so our knight seems to be a gringo trying to speak Portuguese with a thick accent :)
    Look on UA-cam for a video called "Cavaleiro Negro todas as vozes", to hear all the lines from this pinball machine in "portuguese". sort of :)

    Williams always loved using their sounds from other arcades. This one uses “robotron”.

    • @727PENGO
      @727PENGO  6 місяців тому

      Robotron came out two years after Black Knight. Williams 1980 Firepower is where most of these classic William's games sounds originally came from. Most Williams pinballs and Video Games were using the same sounds that can be heard in Firepower.

    Totally forgotten the whistling sound.
    Kinda reminds of nintendo blades of steel.
    What do you have to do to achieve that?

    • @727PENGO
      @727PENGO  3 роки тому +1

      You have to light all the arrows on the drop targets to lite the extra ball. Once you light the extra ball this will give the whistle sound.

    Did you ever modify your bottom flippers to increase their strength? The black knight I have here, the right flipper will not shoot the ball up the left ramp all the way, maybe half way. The previous owner had rebuilt the flipper mechs with all new parts and coils. I've checked the EOS switch gaps and they are ok. The coils are the correct type also.
