  • Hey panthers,
Do you experience shoulder pain or discomfort when kipping or hanging on the bar?
In this video we chat about one of the most common reasons we see this in our athletes!
    Active vs. Passive hanging.
We see our athletes jumping on the bar, completely relax, and boom they start kipping.
This means your poor little shoulder is taking on your entire body weight while you are flinging yourself around.
Passive also does not allow for a great progression to toes to bar, muscle ups, or ring muscle ups. For that you'll need to develop active strength!
Being ACTIVE means bringing your scapulas down and locking them into place. (Scapulas are your wing like bones in your upper back.) The muscles around them are what you use to stabilize them. (Picture included in video)
Once you lock and load your shoulder no longer takes on the entire load of your body. You now recruit all your muscles! This will decrease chances of injury, make you stronger, and help you develop the strength necessary to crush all your gymnastics!

“Active Shoulders” was not something I used to understand much less do enough and that’s why I now am rebuilding my shoulders! This is awesome information!
