'Horse dead, CROW fat'...not 'cow' fat! This is an error that got inserted and adopted in somewhere along the line!
Crow, the scavenger, benefits from the death of horse. One outcome is the result of another! So if one gets oneself in a situation, for example, there is going to be a contingent outcome! So, often seen as a warning!
I very much enjoyed listening to your beautiful conversation...tinted with humor, wisdom, and innocence!!
I relate so well...as I have nephews and nieces in London...generations down from the Windrush saga!!
So very well done! I'm very proud of you young ladies!!...and to your parents who seem to have done such a great job bringing you up, kudos!!😂❤

'Puss n dawg doan hav d same luck' means consequences and or opportunities are different for different persons. A particular person may get an opportunity from an action and another individual gets a negative consequence for the same action. One has to know their 'place' in society to determine if an action could result in an opportunity or a negative consequence for him.

I am up at midnight in the USA lmao about these things you are saying. I came across an IG clip of Kyra's standup comedy and can't stop watching her, leading to this video.

'Drangcro' (johncrow) is a vulture/crow that feeds on carrion. It is used to degrade/belittle someone who does any negative act to another. Eg. A person who cheats in a game could be called a 'drangcro' as well as a person disrespects you etc

You ladies have me laughing, I’m Jamaican and I was raised by my grandmother. She died at the age 96. I used those same words to my kids and they used them to their kids today. Horse dead and cow get fat means. You’re talking a lot of bull sh*t. I don’t have the time for. I enjoyed the show and also subscribe. Thank you ladies you brought tears to my eyes when I remembered my grandmother.

Horse dead and cow fat😂 I remember saying this to my non Jamaican friend and she was like “what the hell”
But it just means that the person has an excuse or story for everything.
    Jan crow is a vulture

    • @edwardshaw8312
      @edwardshaw8312 10 місяців тому

Many of us have heard it said this way, true! '...dont tell me no horse dead, cow fat!'...meaning 'dont tell me no foolishness'.😅
Actually, my Friend, it is not 'horse dead, cow fat'. There is little sense to that, really. People who did not understand the intent of the maxim, mistook the word 'crow' (johncrow... the vulture) for cow.
When horse...or any animal dies, it's a feast for johncrow! He gets fattened up!!
So its, 'Horse dead CROW fat!'....crow gets fat as a result of the demise of horse.
It can then have several shades of meaning; usually a warning to avoid a particular outcome!😊

A johncrow is a vulture so basically they mean your low of the low since vulture always eats the left over rotten meat and considered low of the low. Puss and dawg nuh have the same luck means I can do something and get away with it but you may not

Horse dead and Crow fat is not gibberish. A Crow (John Crow) is a buzzard that feeds on dead animals. If the horse dies, the Crow will have a lot to eat and get fat - not gibberish.
