    Thank you for this video. Pogradec is my favorite town in my country. Used to spend summers there in my aunt's apartment back before the 90's. The majority of the people are wonderful. Fun fact: the former communist dictator of Albania used to spend time there because Pogradec's air was highly clean and full of oxygen and still is. That lake is heavenly and boy can they cook there our traditional food! Famous for "pace" which can be pronounced in English as "patche." Pogradec is pronounced in English as "Pogradets" which is close enough. Cheers.

    Hope to meet you & April next year. We have been full time nomads in the US since March of 2019 but over a year ago we decided that we wanted to visit Albania & Pogradec specifically so we made reservations way back then for next summer: one month in Vlore & 3 months in Pogradec. It's very cool that you folks are there now and we can preview the town through your eyes. Take care. Judy & Jim

    Patrick, if you think about it maybe show a run of the grocery stores and markets available in winter since its out of season. I am curious as to the quantity and quality of fruits and veggies. Next, what are annual taxes on the apartment per year? We were paying $6500 a year at the house sold in Oregon. In Ecuador taxes were like $45 annual hahahaha.

    • @patrickoverseas
      @patrickoverseas  2 місяці тому

      grocery store there i will. As long as they are ok with me doing it. Some are camera shy. I stray away from talking taxes on the channel. I always ask people to ask a aduditor, and lawyer. I dont blame anyone for asking. But that should come from a expert here. I will say there's a big smile on my face for how little it is here !

    Great video Patrick...If I may recommend, for an "outdoors professional" perspective...for you bike (regardless of type) get a "good" used bike, which will typically be much less expensive, have it serviced and/or inspected by a "bike professional" (assuming you don't purchase a used one form a shop) and if an "electric bike" just get a "new battery" (keep the old one as back up if they don't have an "exchange program" for their batteries there.) The battery for an electric bike is its "heart" and its new, for the most part, the bike is new as the electronics do not wear out unless of a poor quality. The "gear assembly" and "brakes" are the next thing to be focused on and the reason to have a "bike technician" look at a bike before purchase...Good luck!!!

    • @patrickoverseas
      @patrickoverseas  2 місяці тому +1

      64,000...to 85,000..euros for 1 or 2 bedrooms. One bath. Price can really go up if you get 2 bathrooms. Cheaper if you move away from the beach

    LOVE IT! Much prefer a town like this to a big city. How hot does it get in the summer time there? And Albanian is difficult to master. Do most of the people in Albania also speak Italian? Can you use Italian as your language there? Gorgeous and unspoiled. So far. The lake has waves, it is not just a flat body of water. Looks like a tranquil ocean. But Patrick once you hit the magical age of 70 that insurance goes up to more than 1,000 a month. If I were younger, I would love t live there. Also are there hospitals? What about in case of emergency, such as a car accident?

      Yes we have. We traveled and spent time in many cities here in Albania. For us. Our 2 favorites were Pogradec, and Shkoder. As i said those are our 2. Yours may be different.So we decided we would buy, and a deal fell in our lap. 1 minute walk to the beach fully furnished for 64,000 euros...which at the time of sale was about $68,000 bucks. Were very happy.

    I commented yesterday how much I enjoyed this Sunday morning walk.
    I remembered that pier with the waterslides in your prior video there. You turned around at the same spot, but it was much sketchier on your first visit. I included a link to your prior video and said the pier was at the 3:20 mark. I double-checked after I posted to be sure the link was okay. I went to check later and my comment was gone.
