We haven’t replaced the roommate yet, we’ve been managing with 5 roommates but there’s been a heap of arguments, cops have been called 3 times already.
I don’t think it’s just the one less roommate though, we also all pitched in to buy a bunch of flowers for the roommate that passed. Now I’m thinking they might die before the funeral (the flowers not the roommate killed)we bought them too early. This has been the worst 48 hours ever.
Anyhow, to answer your question, 6 roommates or 5 roommates & some petty theft, nothing too crazy but this is the minimum.

Rubio's was already struggling before the minimum wage increase and they just wanted a convenient bad guy to blame. The truth is that they are mismanaged. Their food cost 2 times the equivalent from smaller chains, service went to crap due to prioritizing food delivery, and it is not as good as it used to be. Restaurant hiring actually went up (not down) after the increase and the truth is that labor cost are a small component of costs. Most other restaurants are doing okay but Rubio's put itself out of business.

In fact I rarely see kids working anywhere at the ratio I remember. I can’t even remember the last time I’ve seen a teen working a drive thru. Why? Are they not applying or not being hired? High school kids were great for the roll. Pay was sufficient for living at home with mom and dad and building job experience.

I agree with you. It's all changed. My first real job was at a grocer when I was 17 in 2005. Met a lot of friends there, most of the staff was around my age. Good learning experience overall. I would say 2/3 would be 14-21. Majority stuck around for a year or two at most and then found another job, went back to school etc. Now, not even 20 years later when I walk into a grocery store I would say only about 30% of the staff would be teenagers or those in their early twenties. Majority are middle aged adults........ How did this change so fast? When I started there I knew I would not be there for that long and that was fine... All just a stepping stone for young people... I wonder what kind of jobs young people are taking on these days, or are they just not working at all?

I live in san Diego county. I was looking for work online, many higher jobs than fast food are paying $16-$18. Caregiver jobs are starting at $16? That’s ridiculous. I’m sorry but fast food work is not better than these other jobs, yet they’re getting paid $20. Oh, every restaurant closed here has brought in so much homeless. They congregate in a group but don’t want to work. In our city we have help for them. It’s becoming frustrating seeing this city become another LA.

The government chose to step in and arbitrarily mandate a $20 per hour wage for a specific industry in order to pander for votes without regard for the downstream effect, which will end up eliminating the jobs for the people to whom the governor was trying to pander. This is what happens when you govern based on “feelings”, with no grasp whatsoever on the laws of economics.

Issue is they rause taxes and inflation a bit higher than minimum wage each time over a long time period so the gap of having a liveable income gets further away each time. The worst is that most jobs aren't minimum wage in areas like construction. Guys getting paid 25/hr when minimum wage was 10/hr will still be making 25/hr when minimum wage is 20/hr making it better to just work for big biz than for small biz. Adam doesn’t understand how economics works. Raising the minimum wage is basically a flat tax on businesses. Taxes trickle down from businesses to consumers through higher prices, reduction in quality and/or quantity, and reduction in worker benefits or hours, or outright removing positions entirely. Minimum wage increases to match this arbitrary concept of a “living wage” only makes the cost of living increase.
